Hi donyboy73, i was following your vid on how to do this but then i got to un-doing the cylinder allen bolts, i managed to round off the heads on 2 of them! Is there anything i can do to fix this?? any help much appreciated. thanks.
After you get all the plastic off and BEFORE you take the air, cleaner, carb and cylinder off, blow the whole saw off with compressed air. There is so much caked saw dust, it's easy to contaminate the carb and lower end with all that crap.
Removing the piston as you did in this video, would the procedure be the same for like a 372? gonna need to replace the piston in a 372 my son is bringing home
@mag7rova not really, usually not enough oil in the gas, overheating from using a dull chain and carbon build up on the piston which breaks apart and scores the piston walls
Husqvarna 55's are known for scoring the cylinder and piston ! its either causes by a bad mixture of fuel or it got hot. Causes of it getting hot could be cutting with a dull chain etc ! these saws work good when they work but they are an expensive saw to fix ! i do not suggest going to purchase one of these!
their educational. I try to make them that even if someone has never done the repair or teardown that they should be able to just by watching the video.
My HusQ 340 use low quality 2T and got trouble like this.....

@62ssab Gap just use a business card will do, make sure it is between the magnet side of the fly wheel and coil. Tighten down and then remove card.

HugoRibeiro1975 1 year ago
you mentioned carbon could damage it like that? what's the cause? carbon build-up? too much oil or running too rich?
seasonedtoker 1 year ago
@seasonedtoker TOO MUCH OIL WILL CAUSE CARBON BUILD UP AND ALSO LIKE U SAY "RUNNING RICH"

why do somechainsaws have the floppy tube thing instead of a solid manifold?
shinyfuzzy 1 year ago
@shinyfuzzy stihl has a lot of saws with the intake boot. the boot absorbs vibration better and takes less space.

@Zorack10 pretty close, i think the 372 has a small impulse line from the cylinder to the carb

The shop said dust probably got in thru the filter. It didn't make sense.

Great video! Thanks for the info. Is it possible for the cylinder to get scored because of not doing a yearly tune up?
