  • asian ppl rule in piano:D

  • any1 no if hot cross buns is on the grade 8 syllabus? :P

  • sorta puts my grade 1 pieces into perspective a little

  • @ejc2006 still good on technique side but work more on the emotion things it is like he is totally dead .... ( i am grade 8 don't give me a fuck )

  • OMG if this grade 8, i must be grade -23. XD

  • this is really good yeah woohoo

  • preettyy coool:)!

  • .....one word.......amazing...

  • hydian poop stain

  • I hope I get to be as good as this one day. I'm taking Grade 6 in October/November time... Hopefully! I'm awaiting the theory results yet! :S

  • @piano1996No1 with such poor grammar and language you are not going to Oxford LOL. You're not 16 either. From your username you're at the most 15 XD

  • Nice smooth page turns.

  • gah I'm playing this piece right now. It's increasing the speed that I find so much difficulty in :|

  • Meh, thats nothing!!

    jk's :l

  • @MrBlobert11 hahaha funny.

  • how old is this boy. thats mad talent bro.

  • I've been playing piano for almost a year and only now am I beginning to master this song.

  • @yitzchak13 It is not possible to master a Grade 8 piece with less than a year's piano experience.

  • @yitzchak13

It takes much longer than a year to master grade 8 pieces. I started piano at the age of 9 and did not get to grade 8 until I was 16. I am now apply for my DipABRSM and going to study English at oxford.

  • A bit harder than grade 8

  • @dragonfly3895 I disagree.

I'd say this was slightly easier.

I had to play Etude opus 25 no 12 for mine. That is much harder.

  • Awesome

  • 好厲害 . ."

  • Is this the B piece

  • Comment removed

  • OMG its grade 8 pia...oh never mind he's Asian xD

  • @TheCoasterpimp mehh they just work hard

  • @TheCoasterpimp init

  • A truly magnificent performance from you. Your dynamic colouring of this piece is very good. With an excellent wrist control when playing the scale movements in this piece. With a clear use of the chordal progression and a clear scale understanding indicates that you are a very talented pianist indeed. Keep up the good work.

  • What does it take to get to that level?

  • @jnmdjc957 practice.

  • Woah. You got some serious talent there dude. But i gotta say- your expression is stone hard, no offense. But you are really great at this type of piano pieces.. well- you've got talent, like i said. :D Keep it up, lad!

  • are you chinease? because chinese people are amazing a piano anyway but this is amazing! no matter what you are

  • It sounds perfect. I like it!

  • err, how many pages?

  • ur hand finger movement quite smooth...but at the beginning, the dynamite of sound are not very well...but after the middle part the sound dynamite quite nice...

  • cool!! i just started grade 8. It's rly hard...:P ure REALLY good!!! :P

  • MY GOD! How old is this boy?? amazingggg :O

  • Super!

  • Great job , keep it up

  • That was amazing. You played it so well!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm oso a high score-rer of grade 8.. i will giv some comments :D for me, ur phrases r clearly shown, but.. the way eu phrase it is a bit too 生硬 :| & haydn is a classical composer, so the dynamics, especialy on the P part isn't so clear enough.haha. since eu gt a distinction, i am sure that eu can do it better~~ :) keep going!

  • grade 8? when i searched grade 8, I was half expecting a rachmaninoff prelude... but who cares, you played great

  • That was pretty awesome.

  • wow..

  • u r amazing - i wanna be as good as u

  • vewry good ;)

  • 開始 XDDD

    good job!

  • What is the score you obtained in this piece?

  • totally no variation of dynamics bad performing of mood changes, his just scraping thru the notes and hit them correctly.

  • @runset123 what?!?! there are clearly loads of dynamics!!! i think someone's just a bit jealous...

  • I did this piece for my ABRSM Grade 8 and also got a distinction, just over two years ago now. There is no way this is a distinction-standard performance. The notes are largely correct, and the technical runs are very even, I'll give it that, but there's NO dynamic variation, it's not at all legato, there's no shaping or sense of direction. A completely robotic and unmusical performance.

  • haha nice page turn.

  • Amazing. You've inspired me to play classical piano again.

  • Well done on G8, but if it was a UK exam, I'm sure they would have wanted a lot more 'interpretation' than you offered in this piece. Distinction is surely offered under extreme performance, and I have only ever known 4 pianists to recieve this in my teaching, 2 went on to become concert performers, they had the direction and skill to perform, this, I feel, is bland, and would only offer a pass under serious G8 grading, as you offer no result on the rest of the exam.

  • jotihu, shut the hell up about god. he didn't give him that gift, he just practiced really hard. nothing to do with GOD.

  • he was complimenting him you idiot

  • BRAVO! Congratulations on passing your grade 8 with distinctions, that's awesome. You should be very proud, that's a real achievement and you play wonderfully!

  • I passed my grade VIII 2 years ago and played this as one of my pieces. I was 18 then and definitely could not play as well as you are here. Congratulations - God has given you a great gift here - use it to His glory!

  • @jotihu God doesn't exist, faggot

  • Guys, give it a break. At least he HAS a video here. Where's your with emotion? I can't seem to find one.

  • Congratulations with Distinction! I just recently passed grade 6 with merit.

    Thanks for the post!

  • absolutely astounding!! my only complaint is your elbow bowing out at the end... but hey! good job!!!

  • I really hope you make it to music college, you will make an excellent performer.. today!!! ~ What will tomorrow bring for you !!

  • wow. your are the next yundi li! fantastic

  • Great Job - Im grade 6 and can really appreciate how difficult this piece is :) 5 Stars!

  • wow!!!

  • i hate u

  • the kids amazing....only a grade 2 here but catching up slowly but steadily...lol...AznPwnageFTW?...wtf identity theft?....what a load of bull...the kid is great...so no need of being jelous!

  • i don't understand why u guys r being so emotional.its just a video.CHILLL

  • OMG!!!!! You're amazing!!! How old are you?

  • WOW! You're amazing! Screw what those other people say about emotion-- that's something you will acquire over time. Technique is just pure hard work, and I admire that! Great job!

  • well the examiner obviously thought he was great cos he got a distinction :L

  • It was very... in your face. I can see where people are saying that it was emotionless.

Although you have perfected everything else :)

  • i am a 8th grade exam taker. I agree he doesnt fully understand the dynamics and emotions of this piece. But i will also say he does exceptionally well for his age especially technical wise. Most people have trouble understanding the emotion in pieces. But i will say he definitely has the potential to do so =)

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Azn easy to give all this big talk.....so where's your youtube video with all the emotion then? The proof of the pudding is in front of you....this guys good man, and u got no right to run him down, you wouldn't have if u were a real musician....

  • Comment removed

  • Ha. Man what a loser you are....this isn't about me. I said a true musician never runs another musician down. Do you even get that or do you need English classes now? If you don't get it now while you're wallowing in pride about your playing ability, u soon will, mate - life teaches everyone to be humble.

  • To AznPwnageFTW

Would you please explain why posting videos of one's self is identity theft?

  • sweetheart, posting videos of OTHER people and saying it is yourself is called identity theft. posting videos of yourself is called youtube.

  • hence YOUtube, although posting virally popular videos is ok as long as you dont claim something thats untrue

  • yes i understand that's why i said videos of yourself. my point is i don't understand how this video is untrue.

  • only probably cause youd steal the video of this kid, play it on a cd in the background and pretend to be playing.

also, someone who's actually good at playing their instrument doesn't go around being like "oh yeah your just jealous because you aren't as good as i am" unless they're being sarcastic, which clearly, you are not.

  • Now this is what we call 屈機 @_@

  • OH MY GOSH! You are amazing! I have just started doing my grade 5 and I am hopeless!

I hope I will be as good as you one day. :D

  • Diplomas....waste of money. If this kid wishes to study music then he should do so by the usual means. Here's why.... DipABRSM = 160 smackers....nice! LRSM....£420 - still worth it?? How about this then(!)....FRSM...£600...I think not... Anyway, he's a fairly good pianist for his age(as far as I can tell), in term of technique, but the examiners of the diploma exams are searching for the music behind the notes...just getting the correct notes is skimming the surface.

  • Wow - this kid should sit his professional diplomas - I am sure he would do very well!!! He would have to wear tails tho....lose the t-shirt etc!!

  • wow such a kid is edi grd 8

  • Your good :)

i on grade 3 and learning the songs atm!! :D

  • im grade 4, and you so good!

  • how long u learn tis song?

  • how pages is that?? =O

  • wow.. im due to do my grade 6 exam soon.. but impressive, how old are you?

  • Really marvellous & awesome..... it was one of my 1993 LTCL performance pieces took me long to master the 3 movts. How i wish all of my students can play as good as you. Keep up the good works. Now you are eligible to go for your ATCL or DipABRSM. All the best.

  • @flyhilos hey i take it you're a teacher, can you please tell me if there is ANY way to de-code examiner notes? i mean im looking at them now and it honestly looks like a turkey stepped into a puddle of ink and ran across my page!

  • holy crap that was amazing, my piano teacher would love you lol. This is a nice piece i wish i can play it as well as you did

  • amazing technique...how old are u when u playe for grade 8

  • can i ask... what's after grade 8?

  • diploma ,lrsm (bachelors) frsm (masters)

  • 9 10 11 12 but you can only do it in america or U.K

  • hes AMAZINGGGG! i wish i could play like that.

  • loool i usually play by ear i cant really follow music, but if i get this high i am not going to remember aaaalll that

    very well played

  • When I first attempted to read music I gave up by the time I got to 3rd tune, which was a Waltz.. but I went back to it, now im half way throught by grade 2 book.. but I still play by ear bcoz some tunes are easlier to play like that at the moment

  • lool i played flute when i was very young aswell, i just found it so much easier to remember rather than read, it distracts me and then i end up getting it wrong

is does mean i kinda suck at sight reading though

  • My teacher tries to teach me to count the timing .. in doing so I mess the timing up ^^ - Two hands playing - Two eyes reading two lines of music and all the dynamics, one foot pedalling one beating a timing.. and they say split the brain in just 2 ???

  • Which shows the wonder of the piano. :)

  • Brilliant!

  • great going! (and that yamaha piano is exactly like the one i play on lol)

  • did you ever fail the exam?

  • your flipping awesome but puffyjoe stop pretending to be modest everyone knows ur not and mizzyuri stop boasting it doesnt suit u x sunshine rock on and teddystone ur kl x this was played like god would play the drumz x

  • im 14 now, and gonna take my grade 8 exam in june! wish me luck!

  • u got a discticntion??? wow..please tell me any tips?? thnk u ..and welldone =]]

  • wonderful.

  • wow your amazing

a wish i could play that well

  • you should try french horn, its complicated but sounds beautiful if played well !!

  • I'm 14 and stuck on my grade 2 piece (Wonderful Tonight) lol!

    This is amazing though!!!

  • is that in the B section..? im in the middle of that, i recommend The Last Snowdrop, much easier, if its in the C section then i recommend Mozzie, and in the A section i recommend Rondo

  • This is a monstrous piece, especially those fast demisemiquavers. I scored 29/30 for this piece.

You're excellent =] Keep it up

  • Nice i am doing the same peice for my piano exam

  • i find grade 5 hard enough gawddddd

  • LOL. "kai shi" ahah (: and wow, proness (:

  • STUNNED!!! how long do you practice a day??? HONESTLY????

  • Your hands are powerful enough to play this long song. My hands are weak....

  • wowooooooww your incredible! :O I'm 13 and I'm on grade 4 and I started when i was 9! :|

its gonna get so hard! I already find my grade 4 pieces hard espec cattle call! :) xx

  • How long did it take you to get to grade 8?

  • I started playing piano at 6, and took Grade 8 at 14.

  • @ejc2006 whoah! I started when i was 7 and am 14 now, i'm only on grade 5!!! :o but then all i did for the first year or so was learn notes and play simple songs. xD

  • @ejc2006 I started playing piano at 6, and took Grade 1 at 15! Omg right?

  • @nerinarosli WOW u will pass grade 8 at 71 at that rate xD

  • @nerinarosli don't worry man. I'm the same.

  • omg that was so amazing! gosh it's gonna get hard! im only on grade 4!! aaah!!! x x x

  • Please post all exam marks on the site...your playing is amazing

  • O.O jaw drop

  • im doing grade 8 the aural is so hard! i skipped grade 7. how old were you at the time?

  • I was 14 years old that time.

  • That left me speechless!

  • That was brill. My keyboard broke down an died so havent been able to practice...Its a beautiful piece btw

  • good job im over here with my mouth open

  • when u flipped the paper i giggled. you kinda hit the two sides of the paper

  • Hmm Im trying to get an idea of the spacing between the grades, since I never had a piano lesson it's tricky to know what level I am (I taught myself). Does anyone know what grade the first promenade in pictures at an exhibition is?

  • Improving from merit to distinction isn't really that hard. I agree. With a little more practice, it shouldn't be that hard. One thing that helps when you play the piece is to play it with confidence. Good luck on your next test. :) It helped me a lot to get grade 1-8 all passed with distinction. Again, good luck!

  • NICE! Awesome!

    You good! xD

I always get merit ._. Need more practise...

  • Wow im doing my Grade 7 now and thats hard...i wonder how hard this is going to be...

  • i always get nervous on my exam and screw it up eventhough i know it SOOOOOOOOOOO WELL

    how old are you?

  • The trick is just to relax and take it easy. I was 14 when I passed grade 8 with distinction. Good luck! :D

  • brilliant.

  • A flats

  • I admire anyone who puts up a post of themselves playing on YouTube. But you really need to correct the wrong notes in this. And you play it rather aggressively and snatch too much at the ends of the phrases. But you've done very well for your age and you've done well to gain a distinction at Grade 8.

  • The control, is gorgeously wonderful, but I think you you played Haydn abit too, hard.... Which I think it should be played 2 volumed lower, as long as I turned down the volume of my computer, it is GORGEOUS

  • Incredible.... The only comments I would like to make is your posture. Don't you think u sitting a bit too low? your wrists were sunk most of the time....Due to your youth and talent, u r able to overcome all the obstacles. Moving forward, u may want to review this......

  • ...You are absolutely amazing.

I love the piano, and I am only on grade two.

    This is really inspirational.

    Thanks

  • hey people,

just want to say to the owner of this video

    you are an amazing pianist!!

how often do you practise if you don't mind me asking!! ???

    W.B!

  • I usually practice 50 mins per day.

  • is there exam on contemporary piano ? or just classical? is classical compulsory to learn comtempory?

i wana learn piano to play and sing but i dont know much about piano. if u dont mind i'm asking/

    thankz

  • This exam has three sections: Baroque, Classical, and contemporary. So it's a mix of all three.

  • You handle the scale passages with great ease and you make it sound quite clean. However, your touch is far too heavy. The chordal accompaniment in the left hand and the chord at the end of each section are far too "bangy" and need to be as loud but with less pressure. Perhaps it is partly due to the piano, but you must relax your wrists. Also, sit closer to the piano by making your bum sit at the edge of the stool. This will help to keep the wrists lower. Congratulations on your distinction :)

  • Thanks a lot for your comments.

  • Bravo!Congratulations on your pass!

  • Distinction way to be azn!!!!!!!!!!

  • it was a good attempt.. i play it too but faster and deinitely lighter...well done on the distinction!!!!!!!!!

  • I really think this is the hardest in the book, and by far the nicest; well done mate! Ok, as someone pointed out, a little harsher than I'm used to, but you play those scale runs with so much ease. 'Fraid I am sticking to the Mozart (B3) though. Well done on your results, I'm doing my exam in December. :)

  • you should sit an inch or two higher :) get a higher chair if you dont have adjustable stool, the angle between your upper arm and your forearm should be 90 degrees, not less like it is in this video

  • to harsh it is classical you should have scrapped a pass

  • I got 26/30 for this piece on exam, and played much better with exam's piano. Maybe I will load the another one later.

  • There are many wrong notes in this performance! Check the score! Also, too heavy throughout. It is Haydn and lacked a lot of the grace. You are very lucky to get distinction, maybe the examiner took into account your age. Also the slurs, you accent the second note, when the first note should have emphasis (i.e, around 1:40). Very difficult piece for sure! I struggle with this!

  • He accents the 2nd notes because there is an accent on teh 2nd note!

  • Heyy! How old are you? You look a tad older than me and i'm only taking grade 3! LOL! XD
