How could anyone not like this? Anyone with the balls to pull off early Genesis has my respect. My God, this piece might be remembered as one of the greatest musical triumphs of the 20th century. It's HARD! It will be remembered as classical music unless we blow ourselves back to the Stone Age. Thank heavens we have recordings of it -- unlike Bach, and I wish we had recordings of him, too. @pgzzz Haha! Maybe he is, but I dig this... I got to see the origial Genesis perform the whole "Lamb Lies Down"album at the San Diego Civic Theatre in 1975!
Simply Absolutely incredible job!!! ...But I just think the singer should relax a little bit with the arm and hand motions, since bands that are the "real deal" never over-act anything.
I know what you mean! I fell asleep on a road trip once with my ipod on listening to Genesis, I had these really strange but really cool dreams and the backing track was Genesis!!! :D
Yeah, I think there is something very strange about Genesis. I woke up one morning where I was crying inside a dream. I'm not sure what was going on but I was in another place I remember it so clearly. And the ending of Firth of Fifth note per note was playing. I woke up and was just fine though. I wasn't wearing an Ipod or anything though. I also woke up one morning and could play the Serpant, from their first album, on my guitar and I'd never played it before. So, yeah, weird.
Listen to Michael Tsarion on the youtube. He is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecturer/author. Leo Zagami and Dr. Bill Deagle are highly informative and very comprehensive as well.
Nothing can beat the original with PG as singer, but this comes so close to that, the way the give treir own swing to some pieces and the way they perform, absolutely GREAT.
Nice version. I agree with the emphasis of the guitar at the beginning and near the end changes it a bit. And, by the way, without Genesis there would BE no Spinal Tap!
Every performance has mistakes. As a musician, you learn to live with them and just keep going. As a listener, you should expect a few here and there even with the best musicians - and yes, there are musicians even better than those in Genesis.
What I am amazed by is that there may be about ten people in Hungary who sometimes stills listens to classi Genesis, but in Italy there are at least the members of the band, and the people because of whom it is worth to make the concert, so definitely quite a few.
I feel like a traitor to the band saying this, but there were definitely some moments in there that perhaps improved on the set-in-stone recorded versions of it that exist. (I'm thinking of the heavier guitar approach towards the beginning of the bit here, the power of the vocal, etc.)
It's great to here this music alive and breathing again! Thank you! ^_^
On another note: i hope we get a new classical album from Tony..
The vocals are Gabriel's sound to a science, but the music was lacking emotion and power in some parts. We need full blown mellotrons in this song....
Light show with the fog is quite stunning, well done indeed! I saw Genesis in L.A. in 1981, they performed the entire piece. At the beginning of the Apocalypse the stage opened up and Phil rose up out of a cloud of fog bathed underneath in red light. The had their lights bordering the stage like on the cover of Seconds Out. It was a fantastic show!!! They were still doing a lot of their older stuff then.
Very well done....heh, and you gotta laugh at the 1:03 mark when the operator of the dry ice smoke effects machine gets a little bit carried away..! :O)
Who are these guys!!! That was incredible!!!I am 53 yrs old , seen Genesis a bunch of times and never heard this song played so powerful!!! Where can I find more?
these guys are great, except for a few words not pronounced right, but thats ok, i do like the extravangence, but the musical box is better, i like the more pure recreation.
very good-seconds out version ala collins flavoring on vocals. Yes it is a big sound. I prefer Musical Box version of this( montreal band.) The fog guy is ridiculous-make him stop.
This is one of those songs that you shouldn't cover unless you get it completely right, and I think these guys did a good job. I think Bach would cream his jeans if he were alive to hear this.
What is the fanatiscisim with "authentick" hardaware? Ohhh a Mellotron man, wow, must be good. Old Analog gear (Mellotrons, Taurus pedals, Arp synths) suck to haul around to shows, unrelibable, lack of spare parts, crap out during shows, etc. Time to move to new technology (Roland Fantom X keyboards for example)you can sample the old gear or buy exact sounding samples, and have a reliable system. Would you still own and use a 486 PC eh? And the new Mellotrons for $5k?Fugghetabout it...
you have a good point, i think for a lot of people when it comes to that, choosing between authenticity, it just depends on pesronal preference. i personally think that whatever sounds indestinguishable works for me haha
Authentic equipment = authentic sound to the era. If you're gonna replicate the song and show... Why not? We'll never see Gabriel doing this with Genesis again and it really is a time I personally grew up in. This song and the Foxtrot album were one of my favorite back then.
Perhaps we should do a sound test, put up a few MP3's of "authentik" synths, mellotrons, etc vs new technology and see who can REALLy tell the difference? Much less in a live concert with room ambience and typcial "mix" for live shows. and you must have not read my post, old gear is prone to failures, so what are you gooing to do you do with 2000 fans staring at you as taht old gear dies in concert? Screw that! BY THE WAY ESTRO IS VERY GOOD, anyone know where they are from?
Even this cover band has more to say than 1,000 Green Days and Brittany Spears--I wish the 21st Century pop culture would wake up and smell the Genesis!!!! Kudos to the singer--phenomenal!!!!
Fat hacket caked in smoke. Funny. Its a very good cover of an impossibly hard song but a massive misinterpretation of how it should be played, much to heavy on the lead guitar on some points. and the dragging out of "wont be easy" to "wont be easyyyyyyyyyyyyy" kinda destroyed the poetry a little.

you guys are very very impressive. I used to see genesis tribute bands in Ney York when I was a kid but you guys are much better.

eccezionali. la voce è spaventosamente simile a quella del grande peter gabriel. aspetto con ansia una vostra data in Veneto magari vicino a vicenza.
Complimentoni per il sound(fedelissimi anche i suoni delle tastiere)!
