Two of my favorite theologians of today in one video??? Sweeet!!! Thanks for doing what you both do, gentleman! You are both such an incredible source of inspiration for this young theologian who is trying to make sense of understanding Christianity outside of the Eurocentric context as one who is culturally outside of dominant American culture.
Selling your misery as if they have had to actually live any of it. These guys don't live on a reservation. These guys like Twiss, are embracing your historical injustices as their own and selling the notion that they are owed something! They quote statistics and use that to produce guilt, pity, shame, anything they can do to further their own agenda or feed their ego. But, the attention they produce, usually is accompanied with a plea for monetary compensation they alone enjoy!
When we become Christians, we must learn of Him, this man, Jesus. How do we do that, read His book, His love letter to prove how much He loves you. The biggest thing you may ever have to learn is to forgive. Unforgiveness will hold you back, not the other person. And I know that most Native Americans hold offense against other Native Americans, usually someone of their own household. Lastly, there are a lot of false teachers out there making merchandise of you, that means selling your misery.
to all Native Americans- this is the bottom line if you call yourself a Christian. We are ALL sinners outside of the grace of God, There is a literal place called hell. God loves you and has provided a way of escape- John 3:16. There is not one thing of you or your culture that will save you at the end of your life. Only by calling on the name of Jesus, confessing and repenting of your sin and asking Jeus to come live in your heart will save you from the wrath and judgment of hell.
There is no special gospel to preach to a group of people that feel they have been done wrong. We are all in the same boat and we are all lost apart from the saving grace that God bestowed on us when He sent Jesus. Now, if you chooose to listen to false teachers teaching a false gospel, that is your choice. The bible has emphatically warned us that this day was coming. In listening to Twiss, I know that day is here! False teachers and prophets secretly bringing in destructive heresy-2 Peter 2:1

Rom 2:2 Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 2:3 So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment?
God has taken the time to prove to all of us that He is on our side. 1 John 4:9 says He manifested His love, by sending us Jesus. To merely compare your present state with Europeans is to try and contain yourself, not God, in a small box. God created all humanity and in His omniscience, He foreknew that all mankind would be disjointed from Him because of sin. We are all destined to death, the grave and hell. But, God, sent His Son to die in our place, so we may live.
First of all, Twiss is not a true traditional and so has no authority to speak of traditional things. Secondly, the gospel has been misrepresented since the time of Jesus and Paul, so we are not alone in that plight. But, it is not an excuse to reject the true gospel today based on some historical injustice you did not have to live through. Thirdly, if your relationship feels disjointed today, it is not because of history, but because of your lack of fellowship with God and time in His Word!
People don't often realize that we feel very disjointed in the traditional way the gospel was mis-represented to us. Pieces are missing. I need to know that G-d is on my side...a side He created other than European. Twiss and others like him are doing a wonderful work. G-d bless them!
