Your correct, SUMMER WARS was excellent. Thanks for giving the heads up on SW's concept art. You are also correct, concerning African-Americans and Anime: It's Time For Us To Make That Next Step....We have a rapper on every street corner; they are excellent story tellers; but, we need to mix Moving Art, with are Music. Take it off the walls and t-shirts; and put it into books, and on the screen. Telling our own stories, and in a dynamic way.
damn i want all the three! SC is one of my fav animes, mugen is in my top 5 of fav characters.
loved the afro samurai movie! and that storyboard is off the hook! i cant believe it look like printscreens from da actual movie.
and last but not least... takeshi koike on afro... damn! i got shivers down my spine! hes like my fav animator of all time! this is all grrrreat! and inspiring! please continue doing your reviews! love them.
Thats really cool! Amazing stuff! My comic book stores near me dont really cover the whole anime and manga thingy but I sure would hope they did because after you showing this I just wanna go there and spend my whole money savings xD I would love to have some art books in my shelf!
I have a maxed out hard drive a few gigs worth of model sheets, reference material, inspiration from other artists, tutorials, etc. Plus I have a bunch of art books, and art instruction books. I've also been trying to by a few graphic novels to get inspired that way too.
OMFG LeSean your art book collection is great. I stay on Afro samurai and i wish i could get my hands on one of those books. Best references i have right now are is the art of Avatar, and bunch of manga and anime plus the internet. I hope to get my hands on some foreign art books like FLCL if i ever get the money for it
Hey wassup, my name is ernesto-alonso on dA and after asking you about your books, I'm happy that you actually did a video regarding your current inspirations. Thank you so much. I'll post a response when I can.
Your stash is truly inspiration, raw inspiration man! If you ever get the chance, pick yourself up a production book from Gainax. I personally feel they're one of the best animation companies producing work. : )
just in case anyone else is interested--i was actually able to find the second artbook online by searching the title. =) here's a link to the amazon listing: amazon.co.jp/トップクリエイターが教えるキャラクターの創り方~『サムライチャンプルー』『エルゴプラクシー』にみるアニメーション制作現場-マングローブ/dp/4901972944
