the unending battle mobil and castrol. it started with a legal battle many years ago wherein mobil lost its case, until now they still stretched in in the minds of consumers. there is no real synthetic oil at all, real syn is so costly that no motorist would even dare buying it, what you have now are oils claiming to be real syn.there is none only a component tagging
if you use conventional for 200,000 miles then all of a sudden switch to sythetic it fucks your shit up.... even going from conventional to a blend isnt that good. if you use blend or full synthetic or conventional for lets say 50,000 miles then keep using it dont switch
I use Diesel Oil (good quality) on my gas cars, Boat engine & bikes, cause I believe the Diesel oil has a greater detergent capability against other oils despite higher cost & keeps the engine clearer (in fact it becomes black sooner then others although remains very fluid).
Do I make a mistake ??? Should I go to the Gas oil for gas engines ....
SYNTHETIC OIL LASTS LONGER THAN REG OIL , BUT THAT JUST MEANS IT STAYS IN YOUR ENGINE LONGER...ITS BETTER TO BUY CHEEPER OIL AND CHANGE IT MORE OFTEN..AND IF YOUR ENGINE SITS FOR LONG PERIODS THE SYNTHETIC TENDS TO SHEET OFF EXPOSED SURFACES LEAVING THEM UNPROTECTED FROM OXIDATION (RUST)
@omarG19100 High mile oil ARE NOT Synthetic oil....Just like shampoo with perfumes for sexy smell as you need to know what they are!! get what u paid for...MOBIL1 0W-20 Full Synthetic (Understood--Brotherhodd)
u shouldnt go by mileage on when to change ur oil in a older vehicle check ur oil clean oil is golden yellow dirty oil is dark brown/black change when the oil gets dirty use a good filter
u shouldnt go by milage on when to change ur oil in a older vehicle check ur oil clean oil is golden yellow dirty oil is darkbrown/black change when the oil gets dirty use a good filter
It's better to use a semi synthetic oil in older cars because older cars don't run well on full synthetic oil. You should read your Subaru user manual and go by that I own a 1996 Subaru Impreza and I run it on Castrol Magnatec 10w 40 because the owners manual said it was ok and also Castrol said it was ok. I also confirmed it with the dealership always do your home work first. My car runs like a dream couldn't be better Castrol It's more then just oil it's Liquid Engineering.
Castrol Oils are no good.. My dad's truck (Dodge Ram) oil was changed at 5,000 miles and his oil cap would not come off because of the sludge.. He will never use castrol oil and/or go to jiffy lube again
wow wat an idiot. if you have an old car that has always used reg oil then switched to synthetic...the synthetic will remove build up and could be bad for your engine. if you've been using synthetic from the beginning then i believe that thats the only way you can benefit from it.
never heard of valvoline beein a bad oil used it for a long time and it worked great many mechanics i know have used it also. Recently started using mobile one and i will never go back its just a better oil. I never used a synthetic valvoline oil but i dont think i will try it i like mobile one to much to change.
I have all ways used Moble 1 fully synthetic. At Kragen or O'Reillys I guess it is now. I don't know they allways change the names. I get 6 quarts of fully syn Moble 1 and a Moble 1 oil filter for 37 dollars. Next to using a good synthetic oil doing regular oil changes is good. I change @ 3,000 to 4,000 miles
@aqinthe - By the way, don't take my word for it. :) Just have a $25 oil analysis on that 3,000 - 4,000 mile oil that is being tossed out and you'll find that the oil is in fine shape and doesn't need changing. $25 is cheaper than $37. You can thank me later. :)
I'm using valvoline fully synthetic in our car. I never have any single problem with that fully synthetic oil. The anti wear additives of valvoline is superior than mobil 1. My car running more than 145, 987 miles & it is running like new...
I have a 2004 Lancer ES and at 50,000Miles and almost 5 years of age I switched 2 full synthetic from conventional. The car never used synthetic until late 2008 and from then its much better than ever before. No matter what make, year, model, and even mileage, 100% synthetic is the only way to go.
Guess what? Mobil 1 is not full synthetic either. Most of it is group III base stock just like 99.9% of all over the counter synthetic oils are. Amsoil and Redline both use REAL group IV and V base stock which is REAL synthetic oil not derived from crude oil and then hydrocracked.
I say you have some other problem going on......My hyundai 2.7 v6 does what you say your subaru does, but I have had it to multiple people, including two hyundai dealers, and they say it just waht it sounds like ast idle......62,000 miles later and running strong, the noise is still there at idle,no louder, and goes away with rpms.peace.
I have used mobil one for years, and I swear by it,it keeps your engine really clean ans the anti-wear properties are proven.I would never use a conventional motor oil, especially valvoline,it has tons of minerals in it that settle in the cracks of your engine ,oil pan,you name it.When we tore down my buddys old 5.0 ford engine with 110 thousand really hard miles on it,it still looked like brand new inside and the bearing tolerances wear still at the factory specs, thanks to mobile 1.Peace.
If the motorcycle gearbox uses same fluid as the engine (there is no separate reservoir and change interval) then you should only use motor cycle oil not car oil. Valvoline oils are mediocre, I´ve experienced noise caused by the oil lifters when I used Valvoline. No such noise with Total Quartz, Castrol or Mobil1 synthetic oils.
AKA: Wet clutch. ALL jap sport bikes have wet clutches. using 'car oil' will wear out your clutch because it has friction modifiers that are supposed to lubricate regular engine parts...which also lubricate the clutch in a bad way. Definitely 'should' use 4 stroke motorcycle oil for those....(although i have used car oil in an emergency for prolonged periods of time. It did wear my clutch faster)
you are an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
