  • 8 minutes. No beam shots. :/

  • Would this work with a folton military flashlight? Please reply

  • where can i get metal reflector in europe?

  • will this hurt any of the rest of the oem maglight parts

  • Hello cutlerylover; Once you appear to have quite a knowledge on the topic, here's a question: is there any problem to use these holders (that transform rechargeable AA's into D's) with a STANDARD Maglite? I'm asking that because i believe the voltage output out of these holders may be different compared to a D batt, which could somehow damage the light... Or am i wrong? Best regards and thanks for your attention!

  • @cmtecarvalho

With regular D cells in there, you're getting approximately three volts running to the bulb, which is what it is rated for. Go any higher and you're going to start pushing it, step up to nine volts (which is what these battery holders put out) and you're almost definitely going to burn it out.

  • I must ask you Cutlerylover, Pelican or Surefre? I want something bright for relatively cheap

  • it there any parts to mod my 6 D cell mag that i can buy from an online. besides the forums. if so what are some web sites

  • do you know what i can do with my 4d maaglite to get that kind of lumen out put ? please let me know that would be awsome

  • I did the ROP mod some time ago. 6AA Sanyo Eneloops, MOP reflector and glass lens. Works great! Starts to smoke black paper in seconds and melts holes in garbage bags! Although it's never actually set fire to anything like the higher power incan custom builds it must be close.

You will never see a LED do this as they don't put out enough IR.

It might not be as efficient as LED but they are way more fun!

  • is the camera attached to your head?

  • It has a auto focus feature that somehow shifts the image you see

  • no, he sit's behind it.

  • With the extra power of the 6 AA cells, couldn't you install either a cree mce or a seoul p7 and a suitable circuit board? I would think those leds would be more efficient than the incandescent pelican bulb.

  • hey i was wandering that you could tell me where to buy this from because i went on candle but i couldnt find anything and got lost chould i buy this from a store or something. pm me with the link if you can thank you

  • you have the same grandfather clock as me

  • where I buy the aluminum reflector?

  • what torch do you think is best for edc and giving out the most amount of lumens fenix tk10, the furefire g2 or a 2d mag light stock.

  • tk10

  • TK10 ! ALL THE WAY

  • I have a Fenix l2d and love it. They have a new version the Genix ld20. Maybe look into those lights a bit.

  • couldnt you use c or d cells for batterys

  • Nice

    Peace

    @_*

  • imnot going to lie ur hands are fucking huge

  • My brother has a pretty compact led light and it really good.

  • why does it always sound like a store were you are it sounds like people are walking in

  • dude, in the beginning i thought this was one of those small maglights, like one the 6 inch ones, then your hand came in and it freaked me out. haha

  • lol, I actually cracked up out load after readin your comment, that so freakin funny, lol, yeah I cna imagien thats a shock, haha, like it looked as if it was just a closeup of a small light...lol...

  • I know, haha, then your hand came in and I was like "Baby hand? Wait no, BIG flashlight!"

  • lol, baby hand, you crack me up man, haha...

  • Your welcome! =]

  • Comment removed

  • What about his welcome?

  • look every body im part of youtubes longest reply conversation lol

  • Good job man

  • How do you determine "lumens" ? I bought a surefire 8X years ago and it was rated at 105 lumens and it was by far the brightest flashlight that I'd seen to that point. Pelican's website shows a 600 lumen rechargeable light that weigh 4+ pounds and runs for less than 2 hours. Just curios.

  • determinign lumens happens on a light machine, which I dotn have access too, but I am going from specs that light guys, I mena flashaholics go by some even have their own machiens to test output levels, its kidn of complicated but again all info can be foudn on CPF...this specific light is puttign out a bit more than the light the bulb was meant for due to the batetery source run tiem for this is also an hour with the high bulb...with all lights the more power usually means the less runtime...

  • it was a really awesome video it probably took you guys forever to get that. great man i loved watching it keep getting your stuff out there.

  • 800 Lumens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I haev a pelican dive light and love it. cool video.

  • COOL!!

  • Really cool vid. I am definitely going to try this out after I get some cash.

  • great vid priceless...lol

  • Ok, this may be a dumb question, Jeff but I think I will ask anyhow. When replacing any kind of halogen bulb (car, standing lamp, etc.) they usually tell you to never touch the bulb as the acid's from your hand can decrease the life of the bulb. Not sure how. The question is, do you think this advice should apply to changing bulbs in these mag lights? I mean I don't think it could hurt and latex gloves are like 25 cents a pair. What's your opinion?

  • you know my dad always told me this for any bulb otgher than a standard 60W bulb for like lamps, lol, so I have alwasy done so, even with this light used a clothe to put it in as gloves were not an option at the time...cant hurt to be extra safe, actually I always heard the oil from your skin may actually heat that part of the glass to create a break in the glass after its on a long time, I ahve no idea of its validity though...if thats even a word, lol...

  • It happens. The oil stays on the bulb and causes a temperature differential when it gets heated. It's not uncommon for large studio lights to implode because they became soiled when handled. At least it's not a projector arc lamp... those things will blow up if you so much as look at them funny.

Nice mod, by the way. I'd use two 33650 li-ion cells (D sized, 3.7V) instead of AA carriers, but I understand a lot of people are leery about lithium chemistry.

  • in theory this mod with just the bulb the reflector and glass lense would work in a 6d cell mag as the 6 aa cells being used may be of the alkaline type being 1,5 volts each with all 6 being in total 9 volts as is the 6d cell maglite being 9 volts when loaded with regular 1.5 volt alkaline or if loaded with rechargebles totalling 7.2 volts but being of the high mah varietry admittedly the 6d cell mag being a lot bigger and heavier but bassically the same as 2d cell with 6 aa's but heavier

  • This this work with the 3 D Cell Mag light if I used 3 of the AA Holders (9 AA Batteries)?

  • 9xaa if there 1.5 volt alkaline if im correct is 13.5 volts or if there rechrgeble 9xaa being 10.8 volts the mod in this video using 6aa's being only 9 volts im no genious but 13.5 and 10.8 is a little over 9 volts there may be a bulb similar to this that can operate at these voltages i dont know lol

  • a 9 AA setup is whats used in the Mag85 setup that pumps out just opver 1000 lumens, but that uses a 1185 bulb, I beleive the votage woudl blow up the pelican bulb...so no that wont work for this specific mod, but will for the use of other bulbs...

  • How many lumens if you keep the normal D cell batteries vs the AA holder?

  • with normal D cell batteries it will be duller than the stock bulb...its just not enough juice to power the bulb...

  • Nice song Jeff... You have a big light... a big gun... Hopefully you don't get a sports car one day... I'll be questioning your song choice.....

  • lol Im using this song for the new FATOC vid tomorrow since its fitting for blade grabs, lol...

  • nice i like the gold on it

  • lol, flashlight hobby

  • Dude, thanks for the tip!

I'm really interested in trying this now!

  • pelican's don't roar but they will steal your fish when you're on the pier.

  • i wish you could show the difference between the standard mag-lite and the modified. It's hard to tell online

  • difference like how? I have a video comming on using them at night...do you mean like side by side? they look identical from the outside...

  • i meant the brightness of the light. It looks pretty damn bright to me but, I was saying it would be nice to see a comparison of the brightness, before and after mod. Side by side or before and after.

  • thats what I did in the other vid I posted, this compared to the stock 2D cell maglite, search cutlerylover MagROP

  • No video reviews on youtube compare to yours !!

  • where is the link

  • posted my last comment as a reply to someone elses comment lol try again is the bulb used in this similar to an halogen bulb or is it better cause in the past before the led craze came about i use to use halogen bulbs in most of the lights i had it usto say on the pack 300% brighter

  • Yes its a halogen type of bulb, just lower power than other halogens...

  • Can you review some "very powerfull flashlights" you know, one of those "1 million candle light power" hehe. I couldnt find any on youtube :) I tried some halogen flashlights before, but i was really disappointed by period of battery service. It would be great if you'd suggest some of these in the near future :)

  • I have a ahnd held search light, advertised as 1 million candlepower, but from what I read those estimations are grossly overrated, its god a good beam nice and tight, mayeb Ill make a video on it...alot of throw but NO flood...

  • awesome mod. I will definitly look at one of them in the future. Was that sng at the end ACDC big balls?

  • yup, Im also suign it for my next balsiong vid!

  • wow, i want to do that.

  • now thats bright is it similar to an halogen bulb or is it better

  • great vid thats cool

  • The weirdest thing. My wife and I pretty much live beside where she works. The other night I had to walk her over to her workplace to get something she forgot and I took my Maglite with us...and I remember thinking, "man, I wish thing thing put out more light." So...yeah, I'm definitely doing this. Great job cutlery, thanks for the idea.

  • no problem, you cna also buy these already done from tiem to tiem when people sell them..

  • Is it ok to keep the stock factory bulb socket? Or is it a good idea to get ceramic? Thanks!

  • not neccesary for the ROP, in ym opinion but if you go brighter like the Mag85 then yes!

  • cool

  • Put some tape on the top of battery holder save $5

(if they fit in the tube, might be a squeeze)

  • the problem woudl be the contact points need to be conested, I will probably just buy a custom pack that holds 6 AA's properly for this light...

  • I didn't know there was such a community around flashlights lol! Nice!

  • its almost as big as knife stuff, lol they get really into it, some pretty crazy lights too!

  • cool

  • I meant NICE vid
