  • How many men actually run in the princess/royal race anyway?

  • @austrailianpirate : If you are referring to the 2011 Princess Half Marathon, I believe it was in the vicinity of about 400-500 out of 17,000 runners.

  • Thanks for sharing. This is exactly what I was looking for.

  • Could you please tell me what kind of camera you brought along with you? I'm planning on doing the Princess Half Marathon next year, and trying to find a compact camera to take along with me : )

  • @piratepumpkin: Any digital camera of a smaller size will work for you. A Canon Powershot camera has great resolution. I hope this helps!

  • the one person who disliked this is an idiot. runners unite!

  • Thank you, Lee, for your videos :) I will be running in January 2011 for the my first half, with my boyfriend, his second half, but his first time to Disney! (my 6th time LOL) Can't wait!!! Let's hope the snow stays in Canada! (where we're coming from)

  • awesome video! my boyfriend and I just did our first half marathon EVER at Disneyland last week...it was GREAT. we hope one day to do the half marathon at Disneyworld :D

  • @belvien

Congratulations on your accomplishment! What a great place to complete your first half marathon! And Disney World awaits for you... it will be one of the most memorable moments in your life. Again, congrats.

  • @leehoedl

    thank you! :)

looking at the video the weather conditions were crazy! based on your experience, any tips on training for a run in cold, rainy, snowy conditions? we don't get that bad of weather here in san diego ;)

  • @belvien - Truth be told, out of the five years straight that I've run the WDW Marathon/Half-Marathon, the temperatures have been 60 at start and climbed into the low 80s by midrace (humidity between 60-75%). 2010 was a complete anomaly. I'm from North Dakota and it was brisk for me. I would suggest you bring expendable running clothes that you can layer - don't take off layers until you start to warm up. They have people who will pick up and donate your items.

  • As well, make sure you stay hydrated. You may not want to drink if the weather conditions are cold, but it's imperative you remain hydrated as your body will have no fluid or fuel to warm your body. Train where you are at, prepare for colder race temps by bringing layers to peel and consider purchasing the Runner's Retreat package (on the WDW Marathon site in the coming month(s)) for before and after the race. It's a great place to stay warm!

  • Thanks for loading this! I have had the half marathon on my bucket list and I'm deciding to go for it! And your video has been my final push! I was there that weekend, and with that cold, you guys deserve everything! Congratulations!

  • Congratulations on your commitment to run the Disney World Half Marathon! You will have a fantastic time - whether it is cold or humid. Just be sure to enjoy every minute of it - you deserve this wonderful moment.

  • I'll be 15 when I run this :) I just made the cut at 14 years old when I signed up! I'm very excited and this will be my first major running event. Plus, it will be my 32nd visit to Disney World!

  • I was entered to run this half marathon...then I was struck down with H1N1 along with my husband...who was also supposed to run. I was devastated but that horrible cold weather made us feel a teensy bit better. Congrats to all who ran!! We'll be there January 2011!!!

  • how many people are usually in this half?

  • It depends on the year. Each year Disney seems to increase the capacity of the races. I overheard an official state that all races of this year's Disney World Marathon Weekend were increased in capacity by 23%. That translates into approx. 18,000 participants in the Disney World Half-Marathon. I'm not sure, however, about the DISNEYLAND Half-Marathon. I hope this helps.

  • I have run the past five Goofy Challenges and intend to run them until I drop. (Perfectly Goofy) Thanks for the video. This video and your full marathon video brought tears of accomplishment to my eyes - again.

    See you in 2011!

  • Thanks,I am in your video at Epcot.I wish you would have your two videos for sale, would like to help the Boston Childrens Hospital,I am sure alot of us GOOFYS would like to help a fellow GOOFY in such a great cause.

  • great job I was also at 4:08 and 4:55 in your video

  • Congratulations - I hope you had a great time. My guess is that I was running along, passing you, filming, passing you again, filming... If you really want a challenge in running the Goofy, take an additional 20 minutes in the half-marathon and almost 45 minutes in the marathon to stop and film and photograph all along the way. It was still worth it! And I'm glad you liked the videos - it makes it worthwhile!

  • I did the goofy as well. And did the same as you took some videos and tons of photos. I guess you are right we were passing each other several times in the half and maybe in the full. I finished at 2:00 for half and 4:31 my PB in the full is 3:43

  • Thanks for sharing. I am in your video at #;43 in the red hat. I did goofy as well

  • Dynamite -- here's to moving around the personal budget to make room for this race, possibly it's bigger sibling.

  • I found the Goofy Challenge training program & saw that it was you that put it together. You're one busy guy! Thank you for taking the time to share your videos and knowledge about running w/ the the rest of us. I wish I had found your training page before I ran the Disney Half, it would have made my experience more enjoyable(your info was more helpful than Disneys booklet) Most helpful 1 bring a towel 2 bring cash 3 no place to sit 4 bring a camera. I didn't know we could do that. Thanks again!

  • Thanks for the video. It was my first half marathon and this is a perfect way to share that experience with my friends and family. It was cold for you? Imagine this: I'm from Puerto Rico so our winter is like 85! Anyway one of the best esxperiences in my life! See you next year @ WDWM 2011!

  • I'm from the great state of North Dakota in the United States. Our winters tend to hover around 0 degrees F, so the Disney races weren't that bad at all! (smile) In the past it has been much warmer and is more enjoyable to run when it is warmer.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time it snowed in Orlando was when Ernest Saved Christmas.

  • It snowed in Florida this winter, only a little but this winter was freezing. I hate it..snow and Ice doesn't belong in Florida. Our iguanas actually went into hibernation, lol.

  • Great Video! I ran this race and I still loved despite the rain, sleet, snow, etc.

  • Thank you for that; what a great video! You capture the race exactly as I remembered it!

  • Awesome! I ran it and had a great time. Love the video!

  • This was my first half-marathon and I am so glad that you thought to preserve the memories! I agree with the others, you did a great job of editing and using the music to really capture the experience of the day! Thanks so much!

  • kongratulation to the podcast:)

  • I participated in my first Goofy Challenge this weekend. It was a blast. This video is fantastic and absolutely captures everything we went through that snowy, sleety day.

  • This is an awesome video!! Whoever took it and edited it with the music definitely knows what they're doing! And it captures the weather and the feeling of the event very nicely. Great job, and thanks for preserving these memories!

  • Congratulations Lee. Tell Hannah hi from Mary !
