The revenge story of Jacob was actually my favorite plotline...but then again I really liked Malee and Leonard's stories as well. This film really shows that you don't need millions of dollars to tell a great story. It kind of reminded me of "Stand By Me"... except for the disturbing Asian girl's crush on an older man...which was actually very affective.
Great review. I remember Josh talking about the film in one of his videos. Looks interesting. While we are on the subject of coming of age film, I would like to recommend Risky Business and Breaking Away. They are both terrific in a different way. Keep this series up, you are doing a bang-up job.
Glad you saw this; the Asian character's story is by far my favourite, too. I thought the revenge-esque plotline was the weakest of the three but I appreciated it's conclusion. Some excellent acting from younger actors, and really quite refreshing to see a realistic story with a cast of characters in this age range.
I really enjoyed it a lot.I loved the Asian character's story. The revenge story is pretty weak at times so I can see how that was the weakest. The bully kid in jail's acting wasn't so good in my opinion but every other kid in the film was very good. O and just to let you know I got netflix recently and Chinatown is coming very soon and I will review it :)

If you like intense foreign drama movies. You might like the movie Be With Me.This is an awesome movie.Touching and unique.
If you get the DVD.The movie is way more effective in the original language.
