Johnny is one of the Top 3 male 'pop' vocalists of the entire 20th Century...and that means, of all time. This version is Mathis - perfect.
The original by Richard Harris, is also A-1. Harris doesn't pretend to have JM's vocalism, but he has emotion...and, for RH, his version is perfect, too.
I love Johnny"s version of "My body Keeps Changing My Mind", from Mathis Magic album. Unfortunately I only have this on cassette and can no longer play cassettes. Would you have this song? and if so, would you please upload it so I may enjoy it once again. Haven't heard in many years. Thanks so much !!!
I have loved Johnny Mathis since he first came on the scene. "Didn't We" is one of my very favorite songs. His version is so hauntingly beautiful and moving. Thanks for making this available for all to enjoy !!!
Wonderful!!! thanks for this version of Didn't We, written by Jimmy Webb. I think Johnny's version is musically perfect. And I love it. Also enjoyed it by Peter Allen.
Johnny' s version of "Didn't We?" and "Turn Around, Look At Me" are my two favorite recordings of all time. Both are poignant, beautiful songs, sung in a deeply moving, deeply heartfelt manner by the incomparable Johnny. There are a few lovely versions of "Didn't We?" but the only one that brings tears to the eyes and a lump to the throat is this one.
Thank you, ReadMeReadYou, for making this video available.
You're so welcome. It's interesting that you mentioned, "Turn Around Look At Me" because I have that one on my mind for a long time but I'm stuck (artistically). I love the way he sings this and that as well. But I love just about everything he sings. I put my favorites up, except for requests. Thanks for coming by and commenting and I'm happy you liked the song too.
Sturday Mornings in my house when I was young was filled with Johnny Mathis - My mother's way of starting her and my weekend off right. Thanks for bringing back a happy memory of my mom.
Thank you so much for sharing your memory of you and your mother. It's a lovely memory. Johnny has given us all memories of the best times of our lives.
Again I thank you, ReadMeReadYou, for posting one of the most haunting and beautiful songs ever written. Sung by Johnny Mathis, this gem reaches heaven. How wonderful. Thank you so much. Larry
In the movie Mr Hollands Opus, there is a line where he says, if you don't know what a song is about, then you can't sing it. Johnny Mathis showed he knew exactly what this song was about. He put the right tone and phrasing into it, that by the end of the song there is a lump in your throat. Perfectly delivered.

Flawless vocals and phrasing. Check out his live performance of
"If You Remember Me" on YouTube - with Marvin Hamlisch at the piano/orchestra. He has no peer. Bravo.
