Gloria cries to much over every little thing it was the one thing about her character I didn't like, it was annoying. I'm not saying she shouldn't cry when she is unhappy but the way she does it was annoying as hell.

Archie's pre-wedding talk with Gloria is so touching and so natural, I just felt like crying.

Wonderful actors, every single one of them. This show will always be timeless for me.

Basically, it's implying that Archie only recognizes Lionel or what he is saying when he speaks ignorantly and does not use proper English, which is the way black slaves used to speak since they were not able to be educated. So the pun is that Archie was acting as though he couldn't understand Lionel when he was speaking as he normally does using proper English I guess because he likes to hear him speaking incorrectly because he likes hearing blacks sounding uneducated.

Well,Mala....Lionel was just 'playing the dumb Black man' with Archie and speaking to him like an ignorant moronic Black man in order to be better understood by Archie who thinks that is the way Black people speak,and Archie is too ignorant to think Lionel is really just putting him on. This makes for typical American humor.

You know what is funny? People make it look like Archie is the bad guy in this Episode. Uncle Kaz was actually the problem. Gloria wanted a Christian Wedding, and he was against it. He basically told Mike 'To hell with your Wife!'

Uncle Casamir wanted a Catholic wedding. Catholics are Christians. In this part of the episode, he was talking about helping Michael handle things fairly without being a hypocrite.

Michael and Gloria wanted a civil ceremony since it'd be hard to please both a Protestant family and a Catholic family when the bride and groom are Agnostic.

I love when Gloria cries, she shuts everything down just by crying. Sally Struthers is really a great actress at least as far as making Gloria stick forever in our minds....In fact they are all great actors on this series.

I disagree...I think Sally is a great actress and I really don't think anybody else could have been Gloria, but that cry just ruins every scene it appears in...I hate it when she cries.

It was annoying back then, too. I grew up in the 70's and cringed every time Sally had one of those crying scenes. Fortunately, there were only a few (from what I remember) :-)
