  • great fishing skills , what slingshot do you use in this video?

  • alot of work to catch bluegills

  • Thats a brim pole.

  • in europe this is nothin srange

  • Such a big pole so small fish lol

  • lol your crazy man hahahhahahhahha

  • Wow that would work so good for trout in Alaska... Lol.

  • Try maver and preston innovations to find a set up like his .

P.S For americans who want to try this style, of fishing out ...

  • Are you fishing a whale?

  • 00:24 What's in the bucket? Pole Roller

  • WHY?!

  • in my country they are used in competisions (I live in europe

  • Thats really cool!

  • @WoOSprintCars The thing is, he will catch a lot more Bluegills in a short space of time than anyone on a rod will. Thats important when fishing competitions, which is what poles were primarlily developed for. Try one, they are a fantastic piece of kit.

  • thats just normal fishin ! lolol

  • You know they make boats? Right?

  • that is an very very good pole rod and fast caching

  • A: Dynomite

  • interesting method, but i think i'll stick to bobber flipping for panfish.

  • Where can I get a seat box? Is there a link?

  • at a fishing shop

  • were can u by magguts

  • @Prededer2426 This is going to sound horrible but you can produce your own if you have the stomach for the smell. Take a large bucket, put in the bottom a piece of mesh about 4 inch high. Then, this is the horrible bit, put a dead chicken or rabbit inside. Put a lid on with a hole about the size of a golf ball in it. Leave it for a couple of weeks. Flies get to the carcass and lay eggs, thus producing maggots. The mesh allows them to collect underneath the carcass.

  • It's a French rod called a loaching rod. I have a 15 footer

  • ^^^^Bluegills are really easy to catch.^^^ just use little doughballs

  • its also possible to catch carp over 20lb on these poles

  • Crazy

  • getting myself a new 11m pi

  • In Britain its normal to fish with poles

  • A step in the right direction for america there.

  • in italy is NORMAL! ^_^

  • Yay. Great stuff. Jon

  • 'i think i could cast 4lb line on an 8 foot ultralite 48 feet....'

no doubt you could, but you would have to use a much heavier float which wouldn't give you very good presentation, therefore less bites. and if there was a slight wind you couldn't keep your float in the same position, so you would have to wind in and cast back out. you can't catch without a bait in the water.

  • bait stores. walmart. vending machines. you could cast 48 feet, but with traditional gear, there's no way to keep the float in the strike zone if it's windy. so you'd be casting over and over and over again, instead of keeping the bait exactly where the fish are. get it? I do. and my longest pole is 9 ft. but I get what the system allows you to do.

  • Wher would one buy maggots???

  • i think i could cast 4lb line on an 8 foot ultralite 48 feet....

  • i got a fish and it was small ans see through with a blue strip down it and a narrow mouth anry ideal what it was

  • A little much for bluegill fishing yu think???

  • $500 worth of equipment to catch bluegills? lol goofy

  • didnt they fish with poles in the usa years ago , fishing for catfish. This style has been around in the u.k since the mid 80's.it came over from europe , they used to win all the championships , a 16metre pole is about the max length for a hand held pole

  • Nothing wrong with this style of fishing. But in my opinion its definitely an acquired taste or personal preference. Id rather use spinning/conventional reels. I feel I have more control and obviously can land larger fish with them. Plus sometimes I need to cast further than 40ft shore fishing.

  • Yeah i dont know about this type of fishing. Not for me, but if you like it, more power to ya.

  • where did you get that rod

  • @jimjammers27 lol it is not a rod its a pole i got 3 of these 1 also is 18 meters they are from Uk i fish maggets

  • we use poles all the time in uk great vid

  • Whats wrong with bamboo?

  • @mamasboy815 can you still buy those....?

  • This guy is a legend! He should have his own TV show.

  • @WoOSprintCars nice one

  • you rock dude, nice to see people try this stile in USA

  • sweet i want one now

    lol

  • 45secs. "it was pretty long pole"

  • Why not just cast out there with light line?

  • mmm i like to use 13ft rod for deep sea and 7ft rod fresh water

  • it depends on what type of fishing your doing depends on what line you have

  • i dont think i ned one that long a good 7 ft is good and a 9ft and 10 ft is good and shorter

  • A lot of people use them here in the UK. By the looks of it he was using a maver pole. Biggest i know of is 16m poles, can cost up to 3000 pounds. For a cheap 16m one you are still looking at around 1000 pounds.

Like he says you can put the bait on top of the fishes head straight away without scarying them away.

  • just getta boat buddy..

  • world Championships 2010 Merida Spain (lots of long poles :-)

    w w w.youtube.com/watch?v=HM6myDE1cqE

  • whats the biggest fish you ever caught on that?

  • if a had a 40 foot pole i would be fishing sharks not bluegill lol

  • @DandelionMidget youd get dragged in wit a slight tug, or lose a 40 ft pole whihc costs who knows how many hundreds of dollars

  • Finally, at least one American is catching up with the rest of the world.

  • cool.. fish on..

  • is he serious???

  • you can buy a 13ft one at walmart for $7.99. But you can't get it at any walmart. check at a couple walmarts.

  • You have the biggest rod of us all

  • This is a joke right???

  • Fair to ya trying a different style, and the pole is a great way to present bait perfectly for smaller and larger fish i've just come back from a holiday in Cornwall where we we're catching 15lb/7kl fish (carp) at 14mtrs 16mtrs and incredibly at 3mtrs down the margin lines. Anything that gets people to the bank and enjoying the sport is a good thing. Tight Lines.

  • a 14M pole cant reach the other side of a 250foot lake though can it

  • @dhudson369 No your right and over here I would use a tip to catch that far out but for sensitivity it's a great way to fish. Don't knock it till you've tried it kidder honestly a great way to fish and a lot more work than your think. Tight Lines

  • why dont americans use poles over here in the uk there are more anglers with poles than rods on commercials lol

  • Seriously whats the need for that? Just cast

  • a pole role? You must be a tackle junky then.

  • thats why you go and cast out past where you want to fish then real back slowly and while your reeling back slowly you might geet a bite

  • wooww.. you could catch them on a peice of stick. whats the need for that

  • i put sights and a real on it and use it as a beach caster lol

  • i think im gonna stick with my 12 foot pole......

  • @wilddanny1andjessie and I with my 6 foot...

  • @WoOSprintCars yeah but we catch carp on them here in the uk and i belive people use them for bass ad cats in the states

  • Haa my maver 421 is lighter at 16 meter than yours at 10 lol come over to maver larford in the midlands and we'll have a match

  • thats awsome

  • where u buy ???

  • wow never seen like theese before

well in kosova(new state -europe) we have rods with reels and without them that are from 3-8 metres not longer ? !

  • u think he likes fishing

  • im sure its fun to fish like that but id rather use a cane pole on a small boat. or a cheap pole from land. it looks like hes got way to much stuff for just bluegills. and letting them go..

  • VERY cool !

  • I moved to the States with my fishing gear ... People give me a look with that big pole. Mine is not as sophisticated, as this here is the professional match setup. I use a 22ft pole with a solid fiber top which goes rather thin and can bend very easily. That is doing a fine job instead of the elastic and is maintenance free. The rest is in the hands and the feel.

i caught me some nice channel catfish on it.

  • haha 40ft, thats only 14mtrs, thats pretty short by euro standards, 19mts is not uncommon

  • i like that seat thing he had

  • lol I have a 4 ft pole its sick tho

  • seems like a lot of pickledicking around just to go fishing. All you need is a rod and a pocketfull of bait

  • I just got an Italian one and it is 20ft long, and it colapses to about a 3 meter section that holds it all, i can't wait to try it. Anyone have any advice on how to best use it.

  • Best to use ? Maybe you can say brand, and where and what you gonna fish ?

  • I fish every method I can get my hands on but this just looks too ridiculous for civer.

  • @RazorWar360 but you catch the fish and matches are won in the uk on poles!!!

  • Nice catches, congratulations, dude.

  • 48ft is only 14 meters, i have a 16m Maver pole which is an extra 5ft longer than that. Pole fishin is awsome. I only use rods when i go pike fishing

  • in tournament you can only use max 13m

  • Where can I get one of the 40 foot fishing poles?

    Barry

  • see my videos i fishing with this rod¡

  • good video in spain and europe most people use this rods for fishing carps and barbels, i fishing with a colmic 407 13 meters and is the best rod for big fish.

the pole fishing is the best¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • iv never pole fished, i want try it but no1 i no has i pole i can borrow :(

  • funny how the english anglers,of im one of seem to think that there the best anglers, remember we got our arses kicked with the pole in the world championships from about 15 years ago from the italian and french, when all we did was float fish with rods and swimfeeder.usa would greatly benefit from taking up the pole, but the fishing needs are vastly different from ours, and obviously if they didnt invent it then it takes even longer to take off, lol.

  • wow!

  • poles spoil the fun of fishing because u can put the bait any wer u want dat aint fun because its 2 easy

  • i use the same floats there the best only use them in matches

  • what are the name of the floats? i want to buy some they look real sensitive and will be perfect for the pond i fish at :D

  • what are the floats called? i would like to buy some :]

  • Sensas is best, and Auchy model will be right for something like this lake

  • regular matchman myself here in england id say 80% of my fishing is with a pole.. its presentation is amazing an can fish on a pinpoint.. once you get use to shipping it back an forth its not really any hassle.. most poles are very light weight design and a lil more stiffer than the guys in the vid.. he's also striking a lil to hard.. a gentle lift will set the hook an then let the elastic do all the work.. wont be any american fishing team for a long time ;) england ftw ;p

  • reugular rod like spinning/baitcasting would be soo much easier than to lug that thing a round

  • dude i would get very tire of poling that long pole back and forth!!!!!!!

  • Never seen a pole that long, I prefer a 15ft pole myself.

  • Ive got a 15ft pole that i use for bluegill, that one looks cool but it would be to much effort to assemble it and take it apart on a nice relaxing day of fishing. but thats just my opinion.

  • you need to dot your float down abit more and use spade end hooks you get better presentation i have a daiwa connaseur i dont think i spelt that right but i fish for wales im happy to see americans getting into pole fishing 6 is not the lightest youwant to use i use like a no3 on the canal

  • most people try to catch big fish with small poles.

  • wow, i thought americans always used rod and line. cool vid

  • what number elastic would be best for carp around 4-6 lbs?? i really need to know because i want to buy a pole

  • i would use size 8 maybe 10

  • i think this is very neat. i used a cane pole when i was a little boy and it was alot of fun... i think it is just more about tradation that success!!! thanks for the vid.

  • most people in europe use

  • thos maggots are clean

  • A very popular method in the UK and europe with poles varying in lenth and prices and of course types , this set up couldnt catch a big fish on no.6 elastic but match fisherman can easily pull in 20lbs + carp on the poles they have nowadays some say its even bullinging carp as they can be brought in a hell of alot quicker than with rod + more fun due to the lighter tackle

  • this is rediculous for such small fish. control and presentation. blah!. extra work for no reason. i could probably buy 100 excellent rods for the price of that one i bet. and my shoulders wouldnt hurt so much after a day of fishing because i have to pull 40 feet of pipe to the 'pole' holder. not my style of fishing...maybe yours...have fun!

  • ts actualy not as heavy as you think one section is probably about 100 grams the more expesive the more lighter usually but its very easier to get to places you want to fish like under a tree or even in the middle becuase you can put the bait at the same spot every single time, and the splashing does not spook the fish. Its alot easier is you get to try it ive caught a 12lb Carp on 2lb main line on oe of these i bet you couldnt do that on a rod.

  • Yeah it's very light probably more weight on a rod and reel.

If you're fishing stocked pools you stand a much better chance with a Pole, simply because the fish are much more fearful of hooks and line.

I've caught 15lb carp on a pole and seen bigger, you just use a different weight elastic depending on what you're going for.

  • poles are also good for canals ;) its an all rounder.. only down side is the length.. but if i fish further than the pole would be on a tip rod :)

  • is that at ky fish and wildlife?...i think i have been there before

  • or u could just use a regular pole and cast in 6" of water and catch a thousand pumkinseeds.. I hate those stupid things

  • I wanna see you hook a 5lb carp and see half your rod go swimming or you go swimming lol

  • what are the pros of this type of fishing compared to casting.

  • that is way Awesome!

  • this is a very good video im subscribing!

  • were would you get maggots?

  • Yanks cant fish to save their lives

You want to come to england in frezing wether

oo maggots what a new bait

  • most course anglers in england have a pole.

  • yeah come 2 england and that guy would get a big shock with the gear we use :)

  • Is this actually from television? From a fishing programme??

  • i got a 7.2m one never used it yet gotta try it next year for walleye

  • if i was fishing for those tiny fish id use no1 elastique to get a little fight from them

  • seems like allot of work for allot of smaller fish come england fish there youll see wat i mean

  • lol thts not much gear compared to some british match anglers but thats what 12 m pole. not bads :D good lenght pole

  • that's a lot of work for bluegill

  • i know all i need is fishing line some hooks and some silkworms

  • hoping to buy one soon

    :)

  • americans always ten years behind in fishing lol

  • noddy

  • british r the best anglers lol

  • cant argue with that mate ,Bob nudd, will raison the brillant alan scotthorne ,stu conroy ,gardener the list goes on and on

  • the funny thing my dad is all gd friends with them they ar everyy nice

  • European poles catch everything

  • Trade it all for a Barbie pole...you might catch something.LOL

  • cool

  • i catch 25lb carp in jersey on a 5'6 pole with 8lb test talk bout fun

  • Where can i buy that fishing pole?

  • i got a 38 footer

  • i have one. it's a Russian pole though.

  • hi i just got a pole rod its 5m long how do i hook it up and get started ? ? ?

  • is it a whip pole??

  • do you catch big fish

  • lol pole fishing takes america by storm

  • You should use a "tulip". With that you can bring the roller closer, and the pole is never gonna fall in the water ;)

  • Thats practical. After watching this, I don't know how anyone will go back to their ultra light gear.

  • Works well on light fish, but try setting the hook on a red fish or speckled trout with that and watch him take off with all 40ft of pole...

  • i dnt know how big them fish grow, but ive landed a 23 lb carp on a 40ft pole before, took about 35 mins to land though, but u can land massive fish on poles if you use strong elastics such as size 18 to 24

  • lol..."they've got three in Georgia and I got two".

  • Maggots can be put on the hook with baitstick glue, it works great

  • lol

  • yo where is this fishing place at... someon tell me ... is it engle wood park..

  • lol i been pole fishin for like 4 years now, i live in englnad and i think its gr8, ive never touched a rod since..xept those really far out distances. my pole size right now is 14metres... very big but very good for fish,i also have 22's elastic on! so if u imagine hes got 6 and thats one of the lightest, think of 22

  • lol a 22 elastic on 14 metre pole?. That's insane. Ive fish matches with a 16 metre pole and i use 12 elastic.

  • you can be incredibly efficent with this method and put together huge hauls of fish great video...

  • looks fun but not worth all the effort for them silly little fish.

  • Great video you raise a lot of good points but I'll stick to my pflueger rod and reels.

  • no thanks...i don't need a 40ft pole to catch fish. Nor would I want to hall around all that gear. Interesting technique though.

  • great vid kyafield ,great reactions from passerbys :),tight lines.

  • cool i use a strong elastic and today i got my new bream PB of 5 lb lol on 8 m pole

  • nice to see this used in the states hopefully it will catch on as it really is one of the best ways of presenting your bait and having complete control playing fish. I fish without mine its 16.5 with 1.5mtr parallel extension!!

  • u know u can get the same result with a light rod u just have to be decent at casting because their is no current in a pond so u dont have to worry about your bait moving...ive seen long poles used for crappie before but nothing like this so its pretty cool

  • Great video, always curious how it is done in Europe ;-)

Seems like the long 15' plus crappie poles in the US are going in that direction.

I cannot get a good hook set on a largemouth with a pole over say 12' though. Prolly a lack of skill on my part ;-)

  • no6 elastic ? lol best to use 8 m8..

  • Wait until you guys get hydo, latex, blue, purple elastics, then you will think the world is going crazy :) I use a pole as the norm in the United Kingdom in matches, nice to see it being exported to the states :)

  • that,s how we do it in england and have done for a long time...... tight lines
