If ya guys are wondering about the song played at 3:40 and 4:50, it's actually excerpts from a long unused FFII song known simply as "Battle Scene 3". Search it up on youtube and you can see the similarities between these. ;)
I never thought I'd actually see the song used officially in anything... o_0;
The Boundless Ocean, finally get to hear it performed live. Such a beautiful song, it's a shame it's so rarely performed live in similar performances.
I really admire the pianist. I admire them all, but if one performer makes a mistake they can generally blend in with the other instruments playing the same notes at the same time. The pianist here is right up front and any mistake is heard without a doubt. He did amazingly.
@mangobone7 - its the WDR Rundfunkorchester ( West German Broadcast - Radio Orchestra) - the bass-trombone player is Ingo Luis, an outstanding trombone player, writer and arranger, who became famous in the late 80's through a landmark recording called The Two Bone Big Band "Hornplayers Can't Eat Garlic". He is just AWESOME !!!!!!!
@nastywal Oh ok thanks everyone on the name of the orchestra. To nastywal, wow I didn't know that, thats pretty cool. I tend to listen to the low brass in orchestras since I'm a Bass Trombonist, do you play trombone as well?
@mangobone7 - I used to play tuba in a brass band, but I really love the trombone, especially when it's played so well. The piano kid is killing as well. Great music and fantastic performance.
Funny thing I listened to FF6 OST the night before leaving to Cologne to attend this. I was totally bawling when i heard that, as well as during Celes' theme and the main FF theme. Almost 2 decades playing these games and finally hearing those themes from my chilhood played live by an orchestra ... Amazing, amazing concert. <3
@LegionsRevenge oh yeah!! It was really cool. The best thing was the FF VII Battle Themes ^^. But I doubt i will ever get a seat as good as this time... center of the first row
So, what I can hear is: 0:00 FF6 - Opening Theme 2:40 Final Fantasy Prelude 2:45 FF1 - Main Theme 3:40 ??? 4:10 FF2 - Battle Scene 1 5:30 FF1 - Main Theme 5:59 Final Fantasy Theme 7:10 FF6 - Opening Theme 8:10 FF6 - Cele's Theme 8:28 FF3 - The Boundles Ocean 11:15 FF6 - Darkness and Starlight 13:40 FF3 - The Boundless Ocean 15:05 FF4 - Battle With The Four Fiends 15:46 FF6 - Fierce Battle 16:21 FF4 - Battle With The Four Fiends 17:22 FF5 - Battle On The Big Bridge 18:47 FF6 - Fierce Battle
@Omnishredder@redcloud02 Without any doubt this is not Aerith's Theme. It's the Aria from FFVI's opera Maria and Draco (a.k.a. Celes Theme). Just search for Uematsu's "Aria di Mezzo Carattere" and voilà.
that orchestral arrangement of the omen track from FFVI at 0:36 is so damn epic it gives me chill's i always wanted to that hear that part of the piece orchestrated and im glad that the arranger roger wanamo chose that piece as part of the final fantasy concerto
This Medley alone would have been worth the concert, but all other arrangements were just as magnificent. I'm glad I was there, being a part of this wonderful evening.
This mashup between "The boundless ocean" and "Opera Maria & Draco" was wonderful. It really fits the theme of "a sad love story". It moved me to tears. Roger Wanamo did a great job. :)
@redcloud02 they said before they played this that it is arranged music from FF 1-6 in this part, so I don´t think so. You are right it sounds a little bit like it, but I´m unsure which one it is.
@euchale Yes, you a right, I just looked up the track, its The Boundless Ocean from FF3. I wasn't really familiar with that track even though I've played the game, but it does sound similar to Conde Patie from FF9.
