@thechoosendude Yeah the closest to Baldwin would be either Pensacola, or Mobile. There's plenty of places to railfan in either place, but choose wisely. Both Pensacola and Mobile have places that can be dangerous at certin times of the day.
Yeah, I'm not really a fan of certain areas to either Mobile/Pensacola too much.
It's so sad that the old L&N line in Baldwin is no more. There's only a 2-mile Rails-to-Trails in Robertsdale and then a short, 1/2 mile Rails-to-Trails in Foley, adjacent to the Foley Train Museum to remember it by.
As a matter of fact, the Foley Train Museum was supposed to get an old L&N caboose and restore it to a working restaurant beginning last year. Any idea what happened to that project?
9 Mile, Chemstrand, Downtown Pensacola, and St John St are my favorite spots to wait for trains, especially St John because that is right next to the CSX Railyard, so I can find out which trains will roll out next without using a scanner. I never use one, I just sit back, relax, and wait for one to show up.
yeah. Most of the CSX trains I catch here are usually short ones. The only time I see long freight trains are when they are run with Union Pacific Power. If you want to see an interesting one, check out 9 Mile Rd (Sideways).
I actually like the sound of that K5HLL. It sounds very nice. Especially that first blow. You're going to find lot of these new ES44AC's with this kind of horn.
Nice GEVO's.
