if you want to make something similar to edge you have to use first of all a VOX amp (Ac30 AC4TV) use a delay with modulation and a herdim pick hold upsidown..... the classic sound of edge is better achieved using a strato model guitar with a compressor...

I disagree with this guy. Although it is true Edge uses delay in all his songs, you aren't going to be able to play most of his songs with a DL4 Delay Pedal. The Dl4 Delay pedal lacks a dotted eighth note time, why Line 6 left that out who knows!? There are other delays such as a BOSS DD-20 or Electro Harmonix Memory Man. Dude. It's a good lesson on delay. Just don't MARKET it as Edge-style when you and me both know it is NOT. Dotted eights, single loud repeat, proper use of picking technique. That's Edge. Plus using an analog sounding delay algorithm on the DL-4 is more suited for other stuff, just not U2.

The looping doesn't come with all delay pedals, just so everyone knows. It comes with the DL4 and alot of other delays, but not every delay has a looper.

MrViv - obviously you don't do homework well. The Edge DOES use this pedal as well as others. There are some great resources direct from him on how to set it up for each song. Whether he has just the right settings here is irrelevant. So I wonder, Did YOU ever listen or play U2? You should be quiet - my guess would be you can't even play a guitar...and if so, I am sure you skill is not at teaching level. He takes the time to help people learn to play. Need more of him and less of you...

You know, just fooling around with pedals and then you realize some very simple thing, which doesn't sound very good without that certain effect, be it delay, but with it makes a great piece of music. I think using effects is part of composing and arranging and using them is a skill itself. Just like using colours in a painting. It's a skill to use them and not to use them when they don't fit in.

DL4 is a pretty handy little box. I've witness these things getting loved into the ground, though. The knobs get really loose, the toggles get worn out. Mind you this is after years of regular practice and performance use.
