@jkdsaggers Hey ! I remember Richard when he was at the Lowerdown pottery with my father, back around 1972 ! Vermiculite ? sounds interesting ! obviously it does not burn up, I may give it a try ~ thanks SL
Hey there Simon, I'm just starting to throw and I really enjoy your videos. This is a really cool way to maximize spacer. I still need to watch a bunch more. Keep up the good work and thanks.
Hey that's a great idea with the sand, but do you worry about impurities in the sand discoloring/fluxing/damaging the surface of your pots?
ps. are you still using that kiln or have a bigger one now? (on that note you probably don't have any vids describing the previous commenter's question: reduction (also oxidation) not sure how much of a video you could do about it seeing it's mostly theory =P seeing the flame might be nice though :D
I use fairly clean sand which I sieve beforehand & have no problems with it . Yes still the same kiln !! Collecting bricks for a bigger one now.Kilns & how they work would be a good videoclip topic-thanks SL
Hi Simon...
good idea about the sand! :)

My Master Richard Brooks who studded with David taught me to use sand, but
I changed to using vermiculite instead of sand. Get 20 bowls high.

A step by step video or videos on the building process of your homemade kiln would be wonderful. 8)
