Why would you shoot with the mag out? Let's say you're in a firefight and you empty a mag but still have one in the chamber. If you drop your mag to load another, what are you going to do if you need to shoot during this process? Would you rather wait until your new mag is loaded or would you rather have a round in the chamber you can fire with the mag out?
I keep hearing crap about the 9mm. I'd rather have a 9, than nothing. It is all about placement. And then there is the .380. Same thought. Better than no .380 or nothing at all. Hell I'd hate to be shot with either of those calibers or a .22
@daveaz85635 9mm +p with 124-127gr expanding ammunition is definitely effective. I like how a lot of the people that dog on 9x19mm carry .38 Special revolvers. I'd bet that I'm more lethal with 9mm than, say, .45 ACP because I can put more rounds on a target and do it faster with 9mm than .45 ACP. There isn't an automatic pistol cartridge around that will stop a man dead in his tracks, every time, without question.
Great vid i have a 9mm m&p my first gun. i tried the glock19,17,26 an then i tried the m&p i love this fucking gun a cop at the range i go to was pissed cuz he was given the glock 19 he has had it for a year now an the frame kinda cracks but the m&p was built with a thicker polymer
Just so you guys know why smiff went the mag disconnect route. They started it back in the 70s on their first auto loading pistol series (i think it was the 57 or 59).
Police departments were smiffs main customer. the idea was if an officer got into a struggle with a bad guy over the officers gun the officer could drop the mag while wrestling. Thus rendering the gun useless. Now the officer has options what to do next. Pull out a backup pistols, use his baton... or whatever.
Why would you shoot with the magazine out? Because in high stress situations, you can make odd mistakes, such as hitting the mag release on accident. Or even if the mag wasn't seated properly. Anything can happen, and it's better to know that you can shoot if one of those situations actually happens.
Hey Man, I am all for you when it comes to trolls. Fuck them, nice vid. Butt my one criticism, and I expect it to be constructive and that is a field strip does need to be easy, because if it happens to become dirty and is jamming on the battlefield, then the user must be able to easily strip the gun to dislodge any debris etc. on the field. Hence the name Field strip. This is part of the reason the Beretta M9 was such an effective weapon. Bc if it malfunction the user could strip with one hand.

Special Forces are trained to be the weapon. Someone could shoot them in the pinky with a big, bad .45, but when they reply with a shot between the eyes, it's over. I think it's all about accuracy and skill. A true shooter could make a .22 deadly.
But, I would rather have a USP .45 or M&P 45. rather than a Glock 9mm in the field anyday. However, ammo capacity and the "tumbling" bullet effect of the .45 is enough to make me think about a .40 or a .357 like yours.
@SamLFisher Or you could just buy a Glock (or M&P) and have 100% reliability out of the box. Seriously, anyone who owns both Glocks and 1911s will tell you that Glocks are more reliable. Same with that M&P in your hand. An M&P will run 100% right out of the box. No break in period or sandpaper necessary. Many 1911s are not that way. By the way, 1911s were made in . . . umm 1911. Why all the Glock hatred? Your M&P is such a good gun because S&W took notes from Glock. Both great guns.
The reason you might need to shoot when the magazine is out is so that you can do a "condition 1 reload". They teach you to try to do that in the military. The concept is you leave a shot in your pistol/rifle while you are reloading so if someone comes around the corner with a gun right after you drop your magazine you have at least one shot to try and kill/disable your attacker while you put your next magazine in. It's a good thing to do if you are doing reloading training IMO
To all you 1911 fanboys who love to correct everyone on your precious (overrated) gun, let me give you some advice for when correcting us noobs. The 1911's name doesn't mean when it "came out", it stands for the year the military adopted it. It had been in production and development for the military a few years before that. So suck on that, by the way SIG, HK, GLOCK, and Walther before any 1911. I don't mean a beauty pageant either, I mean hard use and low maintenance firearms.
His tattoos are Resident Evil tattoos. The red and white things are Umbrella Corp and the vials are the G and T virus. They are also cool and ingenuitive.
hi, I just purchased the M&P and it seems like you are able to take out the the takedown tool very easily. But mine doesn't seem to want to come out when I turn it and pull on it. Am I doing something wrong?Any suggestions?
Sounds like comparing 7.62x25 to 9mm is identical to comparing .357 sig to .40 S&W. 7.62 tokarev has the same case width as 9mm, but the casing is lengthened 6mm and necked down. Sound similar? Also, you are very correct, M1911/A1 rapes face.
Nice review, I got an M&P .40 and love it! If it had a finger I'd put a ring on it. I don't have any interest in flocks purely because they are mostly praised by the young "jump on the bandwagon" types. Plus they aren't made in the good ol' US of A. Mine came with the mag safety which isn't a big deal. Safeties don't mean anything on a firearm. They can fail which is why following proper safe handling and rules are very important. The only way a mag disconnect is usefull is if in a struggle ove
@m1dn1ght5un it was actually in the works since 1900 and was released for 4 years of field trials in 1907 before officially coming into service in 1911. The 4 years before hand was still the same gun and design it just was not named until brought into use by the military.
Thats why he couldnt remember when it came out.
and i suppose the war of 1812 happened during the year 1812 right? wrong... 1812-1815 the name doesnt always match the situation
@m1dn1ght5un - The 1911 was adopted by the military in 1911. It was started in the 1890s and was in military trials in 1906 and 1907. Firearms are not spawned out of thin air by magic and instantly adopted by the military. Ass.

The M&P can be field stripped by dry firing very similar to the Glock.....actually easier than the Glock using the dry fire method. Im not sure why you kinda make fun at the Glocks when the M&P is a very similar design striker fire polymer frame pistol? I have both Glocks and M&P....only thing really dont care for on the M&P is the trigger reset compared to the Glocks. Both are great choices just a matter of fit and personal preference. M&P available without mag safety as well.
hello Sir: I own an M&P 9----do you notice the finish on the slide scratches VERY easily> I havnt even fired it yet and the slide is scratched up already.
I have shot mine countless times, drawn from both plastic and leather holsters and there are no scratches or wear marks on mine. You should contact Smith and Wesson and ask them it they can refinish the gun for you.
Well actually, if you're in a gun fight and for whatever reason, you need to take down your weapon, you may not have the "finesse" needed to take down the Glock.
I got an Hk p30 and love how it shoots. However a REP for Smith and Wesson has been trying to convert me and saying that i need to check it out because once i shoot it it will convert me forever. What is your take on it? Have you shot the HK and seen any difference that will make it much better for me to get the Smith and WEsson?.. besides the price point, haha i do know they get pricey
Dude nice video of the tear down procedure. Regarding the Mag Safety. I bought my M&P Compact 9mm without the Mag Safety for one specific reason. My M&P is used for home defense/personal defense. My wife rarely shoots and I wanted to make sure that she at least had a chance to fire off one round in case she is in a highly stressed, defensive, situation and accidentally hits the mag release. At least without the mag she can still fire the round that was chambered when she pulls the gun.
I was at gander mountain the other day and nearly peed myself when I pulled the M&P's trigger! I'm definitely going to buy one, but not at overpriced, overrated Gander Mountain.
I love the m&p and don't like the glock but man you get defensive about every damn Glock thing it makes you sound like your in the wrong end of the argument. Just ignore the glock fanboys.
Also, firing the gun without the mag is very important for dry fire practice. Which is why I got the model without a magazine disconnect.
I love the scalloped serations and that they put the sights to give the longest sight radius as possible...being the replacement gun for many law agencies That were using glocks and now is the offical gun of the DEA! It's more accurate and sure accessories are cheaper with the glock but the stuff just isn't on par with this new stuff...i've bought this the moment i shot it...
SO when people talk about Glock clones they have no idea what they are talking about. Glock is NOT the best pistol, not even close. No officer I know nor soldier I know carries 1 or wants to! Glock is a sluggish, ugly, inaccurate pistol. It is however VERY reliable and that is about it. Only the G17 is worth a shit, the rest are like holding 2x4's! People that know dont shoot Glocks! Before the hate mail arrives I have a Glock, I talk about it all the time. Gen 3 sucked ass! M&P is a superior
Nice Pistol Bro! Just for the record I say this all the time but I wanna say it again because I saw Glock lovers talking shit. I PERSONALLY Witnessed the pistol trials in 09! I was a Federal Officer and I over saw a majority of testing done by a independent contractor. Long story short they tested every leading pistol and conducted over 100k function tests. GLOCK failed miserably! Didnt place in top 10! S&W M&P was 1&2 trading places with the XD! S&W M&P was superior to all other pistols!
First off what is a Tach reload?? If you mean tact reload then ok. I am pretty sure 90 percent of the US wont do that. They will shoot till the slide locks back. And I will bet that if you actually got into a real shoot out you would shoot till it locks back. So please stop with the bullshit comments about the possiblity of needing that one round. That is just the bullshit Glock being drilled into your simple little brains.
@SamLFisher yes that was a typo and i have had police training so i do tact reloads (not when you are in a fire fight of course) and what they call the one in the chamber drill that you remove your mag shot while getting the second ready then reload
@SamLFisher: I agree with you that the M&P is a good gun, and some like most popular items Glock fans can be unreasonable and in some cases ignorant. Glocks are not the best gun out there....period. Like every gun they have their issues, But listening to your review and reading your comments made me want to turn my M&P on myself and pull the trigger.
if the take down looks difficult with the tool, screw it and pull the trigger. it's not required that you use the fag tool folks. M&P is a great gun, but im also a glock fan. I prefer the feel of the M&P, fits my hands more comfortably and the trigger is far superior to the glock's.
I have this in 40S&W, you can pull the trigger to field strip the 40 however you can also fire when the mag is released. Yours is probably slightly different but great gun none the less.
First off, Fuck Harley and all the yuppy faggots that think that is a motorcycle. They are just over priced bullshit, get off your high house your all gay. I'll take a Yamaha and have it last twice as long for half the price.
@RunThemAll Glock clone? My ass! They're similar, but so are so many other weapons. Sure you can make variations of striker fired pistols, but really how many differences can you possibly create and still maintain functionality. It's the same as comparing Rack and pinion steering gears in cars. Ford has them, GM does too, Chrysler has them, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, Jaguar...How different do you really think they are internally? Little to none. Same with pistols.
If the M&P is to hard for you to take down, then I want you to go out and get your glock. Then once you have it place the barrel in your mouth and pull the trigger. Because you are a tool and need to be gotten rid of.
So I like the vid, but my stance on the mag disconnect is not the same as yours, I read some of the comments and they say in a grapple a person can hit the mag release, thats garbage why are they so close to you anyways??? lol
The reason I hate mag releases is because of tactical reloads, say you shoot 10 rounds and you start a tactical reload and a BG comes around the corner, that 1 bullet could save your life. Just my 2 cents I can live without the mag disconnect.
So the cops took my sigma series 40 away for bullshit reasons. They said it was concealed but it wasn't. The pigs wont give back but because of my lawyer and the second amendment the judge got told. So I have been thinking about buying a new s&w gun and the mp40 seems good. How much is this in range of price?
I've always heard that the ability to fire the pistol without a mag in, was there in case the owner is wrestling an assailant for the gun, and the mag release gets pushed.
@SamLFisher So if I cock it just for hell of it and dry fire it to release the hammer without the snap cap.. would I fuck it up eventaully since this gun does have the same kind of hammer like the sig?
i thought you could shoot the gun with out the mag in the M&P? good video though. i dont understand why people get hung up on fast field strip either.
@OregonBackpacker It depends on the model that you get some have a magazine safety and/or the external safety or neither safety. Look on S&W's website to learn which models have or don't have the mag safety. Then get the one that meets your local laws and your desires(needs) ;-)
Hey good review thanks for it. Just wondering why you have a problem with Glock. I have never owned a Glock b/c I thought they were very ugly, I didnt like the little mag release or the slide catch. Well when they came out with the Gen 4 I bought 2 model 19's which have improved grip with adjustable backstrap, larger mag release. I just dont understand all the sarcasm when you reference to the Glock. Am I missing something. By the way I also own an M&P so not knocking it. Is it just you own 1.
Hey bro, love your review. I did not see this question in the comments. I shoot .40 S&W mostly and came across a few .357 SIG shells for reloading. I'm interested, is their a difference in the .357 and .40? What do you like about that round? It looks like a fun round to shoot. Let me know.
No Offense Mr SAMLFisher..why youre so RUDE about person who post a comment..as i know a patient person who's carrie a gun its an important manner to wisely GUN used..
@SamLFisher hahah..ok.perhaps they need some opinion of you MR...okay thanks for uploading the review..wish i have one SW...thank Mr SAM...kind regards Eka
Thanks for the review. I just picked up the M&P 40 FS. Can wait for my Fing stupid 10 day wait period to be over so I can take it to the range! Thanks man!
I know you were trying to impress the ladies with your 'I need the large grip' routine, and I know that projecting the image of being a 'manly-man' is important to you considering your super kewl tats, but you need to grow out of that phase and embrace your dainty little girl hands that you have put on display here and use the appropriate grip, namely the small one.
What the fuck are you talking about?? I could care less about impressing any one. I am just giving a review. Please never leave another comment or I will ban you.
Good video man. I just bought an M&P .357 sig compact and I love it. I like that I can buy a .40 cal barrel for it and use the same mags. Mine doesn't have the mag safety. I don't know why people have to like one or the other(Glock or M&P). I own both and love them both. My next purchase is going to be a XDm which I have also shot and love. I don't think that there is anything to hate about any of them, but its hard for me to hate any gun unless its a cheap piece of shit.
No mine is not a Pro series because they dont the .357 sig in Pro series. The only main difference between the normal M&P9 and the Pro Series is the length of the barrel. The normal one has a 4.25 inch barrel and the Pro Series is a 5 inch barrel.
nice review man im thinking of buying one of these my local store has a deal going... i dont know why everyone on every youtube video has to be an "expert" in the comments part and hate on everyones videos... thanks again for a good review
I agree on how easily something can be field stripped. I would like to know how many people (Glock die hards) carry their cleaning kit with them everywhere they go. If they did that then sure, it would make more sense for a firearm to be fieldstripped easily. But, they don't. So it DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER. Rockin' video man.
"The 1911's been around almost a hundred years if not more." "I'm not really sure about the year" That's pretty funny. Hey try 1911 - 2011 = 100 years.
I hate it when people kill for their Glocks, and after a few rounds of shooting without the mag it will stovepipe, it happens to pretty much all handguns.

PS dont pay any attention to the retards. They know who they are. LOL.
MrAlanrox 9 months ago
Sounds like comparing 7.62x25 to 9mm is identical to comparing .357 sig to .40 S&W. 7.62 tokarev has the same case width as 9mm, but the casing is lengthened 6mm and necked down. Sound similar? Also, you are very correct, M1911/A1 rapes face.
P.S. Fuckin cool Resident Evil tattoos, man.

SamLFisher 10 months ago
@m1dn1ght5un LOL at you not really knowing...
railroadtrash09 8 months ago
@m1dn1ght5un it was actually in the works since 1900 and was released for 4 years of field trials in 1907 before officially coming into service in 1911. The 4 years before hand was still the same gun and design it just was not named until brought into use by the military.
Thats why he couldnt remember when it came out.
and i suppose the war of 1812 happened during the year 1812 right? wrong... 1812-1815 the name doesnt always match the situation
minniman42 8 months ago

M&P available without mag safety as well.

richbo666 11 months ago
I have shot mine countless times, drawn from both plastic and leather holsters and there are no scratches or wear marks on mine. You should contact Smith and Wesson and ask them it they can refinish the gun for you.
SamLFisher 11 months ago 5
Well actually, if you're in a gun fight and for whatever reason, you need to take down your weapon, you may not have the "finesse" needed to take down the Glock.
MovieTheaterHead 11 months ago

I love the m&p and don't like the glock but man you get defensive about every damn Glock thing it makes you sound like your in the wrong end of the argument. Just ignore the glock fanboys.
Also, firing the gun without the mag is very important for dry fire practice. Which is why I got the model without a magazine disconnect.
seth2472006 1 year ago
M&P's come with a version where you can shoot with the mag out.
Sting3733 1 year ago
I love the scalloped serations and that they put the sights to give the longest sight radius as possible...being the replacement gun for many law agencies That were using glocks and now is the offical gun of the DEA! It's more accurate and sure accessories are cheaper with the glock but the stuff just isn't on par with this new stuff...i've bought this the moment i shot it...
GrenMoyo 1 year ago
SO when people talk about Glock clones they have no idea what they are talking about. Glock is NOT the best pistol, not even close. No officer I know nor soldier I know carries 1 or wants to! Glock is a sluggish, ugly, inaccurate pistol. It is however VERY reliable and that is about it. Only the G17 is worth a shit, the rest are like holding 2x4's! People that know dont shoot Glocks! Before the hate mail arrives I have a Glock, I talk about it all the time. Gen 3 sucked ass! M&P is a superior
CorruptArsenal213 1 year ago
Nice Pistol Bro! Just for the record I say this all the time but I wanna say it again because I saw Glock lovers talking shit. I PERSONALLY Witnessed the pistol trials in 09! I was a Federal Officer and I over saw a majority of testing done by a independent contractor. Long story short they tested every leading pistol and conducted over 100k function tests. GLOCK failed miserably! Didnt place in top 10! S&W M&P was 1&2 trading places with the XD! S&W M&P was superior to all other pistols!
CorruptArsenal213 1 year ago
well i look at it this way if you do a tach reload and have to shot your 1 in the chamber with the M&P your screwed
masterofnotmuch 1 year ago
First off what is a Tach reload?? If you mean tact reload then ok. I am pretty sure 90 percent of the US wont do that. They will shoot till the slide locks back. And I will bet that if you actually got into a real shoot out you would shoot till it locks back. So please stop with the bullshit comments about the possiblity of needing that one round. That is just the bullshit Glock being drilled into your simple little brains.
SamLFisher 1 year ago 6
@SamLFisher yes that was a typo and i have had police training so i do tact reloads (not when you are in a fire fight of course) and what they call the one in the chamber drill that you remove your mag shot while getting the second ready then reload
masterofnotmuch 1 year ago

SamLFisher 1 year ago 6
@RunThemAll Glock clone? My ass! They're similar, but so are so many other weapons. Sure you can make variations of striker fired pistols, but really how many differences can you possibly create and still maintain functionality. It's the same as comparing Rack and pinion steering gears in cars. Ford has them, GM does too, Chrysler has them, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, Jaguar...How different do you really think they are internally? Little to none. Same with pistols.

I've always heard that the ability to fire the pistol without a mag in, was there in case the owner is wrestling an assailant for the gun, and the mag release gets pushed.
Nice John Moses Browning reference.

U can get some snap caps that is the only way other than dry fire. Which is not bad for the gun.
SamLFisher 1 year ago
@SamLFisher So if I cock it just for hell of it and dry fire it to release the hammer without the snap cap.. would I fuck it up eventaully since this gun does have the same kind of hammer like the sig?

OregonBackpacker 1 year ago
@OregonBackpacker It depends on the model that you get some have a magazine safety and/or the external safety or neither safety. Look on S&W's website to learn which models have or don't have the mag safety. Then get the one that meets your local laws and your desires(needs) ;-)
BigOStyle1 1 year ago
Hey good review thanks for it. Just wondering why you have a problem with Glock. I have never owned a Glock b/c I thought they were very ugly, I didnt like the little mag release or the slide catch. Well when they came out with the Gen 4 I bought 2 model 19's which have improved grip with adjustable backstrap, larger mag release. I just dont understand all the sarcasm when you reference to the Glock. Am I missing something. By the way I also own an M&P so not knocking it. Is it just you own 1.
hammy517 1 year ago
Hey bro, love your review. I did not see this question in the comments. I shoot .40 S&W mostly and came across a few .357 SIG shells for reloading. I'm interested, is their a difference in the .357 and .40? What do you like about that round? It looks like a fun round to shoot. Let me know.

First of all nice REVIEW. ALso is that A PRO SERIES or normal one. And whats the difference in regular M&P9 and PRO SERIES ?
gtvapsamtik 1 year ago
No mine is not a Pro series because they dont the .357 sig in Pro series. The only main difference between the normal M&P9 and the Pro Series is the length of the barrel. The normal one has a 4.25 inch barrel and the Pro Series is a 5 inch barrel.

@SamLFisher The Pro series has the Performance Center sear and night sights if I'm not mistaken. Also, the Pro series can be had in 4.25" (9mm).

I agree on how easily something can be field stripped. I would like to know how many people (Glock die hards) carry their cleaning kit with them everywhere they go.
