  • this wasnt 1992.

in 1992 both goals came in the last 20 mins as we were attacking a empty stretford end due it being rebuilt for the allseater requirements.

any respecting united fan even young ones should know that as it was a big game in the first season of Premier League.

  • this was the second goal, first was a pen by Bruce. Sharpe scoed the 3rd with the scousers scoring a minute later to make it 3-1. Next round we battered Aresnal 6-2 at Highbury, but lost the final to Sheff Wed 1-0....in was 1990-1991 season when we won the ECWC against Barca.

  • I'm going to be honest here. Ruining the video by plastering a link right over the top of the video I'm trying to watch, makes me want to do anything but visit that link.

Marketing 101: If you want people to use your product, don't do anything that could piss them off.

  • thanks for ruining the video with that link

  • it was united 3 - liverpool 1, think it was the rumbelows cup

  • This is the league cup game that United won 3-1. Dogleash went to kick the ball back into play and fell on his arse. Payback for the scousers batering us at Anfield a few weeks before.

  • You can tell this is 1990/91 by the kits...

In 92 Liverpool had that horrible green away kit, and Utd was wearing that umbro kit with the shoelaces on the neck..

  • im a liverpool fan and even ill admit i like mark hughes..

  • @bbkingshat :O

  • You're both wrong lads. This Hughes strike was the first goal in a 3-1 Rumbelows Cup (League Cup) victory for Utd in the 1990/91 season. Bruce and Sharpe got the other goals. I was at Old Trafford for this game, sat in North Lower.

In the 1992/1993 season we did draw at home to Liverpool 2-2, with Hughes scoring two great goals. One a side foot volley and one a diving header,

The famous new years day 3-1 victory was in the 1988/1989 season. McClair, Hughes and Beardsmore. It's on youtube.

  • @bruntacus The only correction there is that this was the second goal, not the first. The first goal was Bruce's penalty, given for handball by (I think) Steve Nicol.

  • That wasn't 18/10/92, I'm pretty sure that was new years day 1990. The game in October 92 was when the Stretford End was being rebuilt.
