  • Our highschool is doing this musical

when we were practicing for this scene everyone was in tears by the end of it

  • He did this for our sins , our uncleanlyness, and all he wants is for us to know him and follow him, yet, " Theres no proof, Prove him, Christianity starts wars, we ignore science, we control the government, we prefer to be uneducated, WE ARE ALL HYPACRITES.

The holy spirit dwells in those that follow and know him as our master, our friend our savior and redeemer. I would rather be one of these clown followers of Jesus then to be a cynical, critical, hateful biggit. Long lives God !

  • i hate how the guy who plays judas looks just like my dad 0_o

  • id love to do this did anyone see this in witham at the public hall

  • i saw a production where the cast carried him out dead. but them carried him back in alive all of them cheering, and then EVERYONE started cheering... i'll never forget it

  • I can't see this without crying! So I feel like I will be a wreck when I have to preform it for the fall play (we're the backing chior) concidering my cousin is playing Jesus!

  • I like capsicums

  • Oh goodness. I don't think I've ever had such intense chills when watching a movie scene.

We're performing this at my high school. I have no clue how I'm gonna get through this scene. There will be tears, of that I'm sure.

  • I love this musical, and I hope next year the high school I'm going to does this, and I get casted. But! I'm confused, when Jesus is dying why are the other people climbing and shaking the fence and screaming in horror?

  • @circusm139 When my brother and I watched this a few years back with my Mom, she told us it was to show how Jesus sufferent in silence, but those who loved him suffered aloud and felt his pain...

    Something like that x]

  • At 2:37 and onward, Pink Floyd anyone?

  • How does he die from that???

  • @1028mikey Someone told me that it was supposed to be an electric fence

  • @1028mikey He doesn't actually die from that. This is supposed to symbolize Jesus's death.

  • jesus christ superstar also didn't have a resurrection

  • Cool. Looking forward to watching the whole thing again one of these days. se

  • I'm an agnostic and I like this movie mainly for the catchy music not the message.

  • *clap* great movie. Three cheers for napoholic for posting it.

  • He didn't resurrect in Jesus Christ Super Star either..

  • Bejjinks --Oh, I understand alright. I just don't go along with your kindergarten level of spirituality.

  • i'm putting this on with my drama group as a production and am loving every minute!!

  • A rapper named Q-Unique sampled this, long live hip hop!!!

  • I saw that decades ago and it make me chills till now.

  • @queenpuzzle -- No, it doesn't answer, or even address, my question. but you are probably not capable of comprehending what I am asking. So don't worry about it. Jesus loves you anyway. Even if he had an abusive Dad.

  • @kimchalister Actually, you are not capable of comprehending the answer if you would even ask a question in that manner. Jesus wasn't just another God in a panoply of Gods. There is only one God and He took on the form of flesh because all of creation had become corrupt. This was God himself redeeming us because the alternative would have been to wipe us all out. But your mind can't comprehend something this big so you reduce Jesus to just a son of God and you reduce corruption to minor sins.

  • I love this musical but, 1/5 of the world is white. I love the lack of representation of others in this and most American Christian films.

More than likely, Christ was brown.

  • @tommyrock69 WEll, not brown, like he was black, but He was Hebrew though so he would have had tannish olive skin.

  • @staticfan1 So, we can agree that he didn't resemble Ted Nugent in the paintings in my church.

  • I love how the white light shines down on him to show everyone that he truly was the Saviour. That was a cool idea to put in there in that scene.

  • Like in Jesus Christ Superstar, I think its a good idea not to go any further and show Jesus's resurrection. Because we all know what happens next, the rest you could say is history because we're here right now. Rising from the dead was important but him dying the greatest feet of all.

  • I saw this on tv last night for the 1st time in a long time. The only thing, I think they are missing is the resurrection of Jesus defeating death and the devil at the end

  • @phildaddy4 You know thats a major critisim of this movie/play. But you know I consider at the end when all of the people come back to the streets I see that as his resurrection; in everyone else he lives, through us! Long Live God!

  • @Under79in9 I agree, I think the ending is very inspiring :)

  • @Under79in9

But the whole show is still a satire.

  • @tigredavid I wouldn't say that. I would say its a comical way to spread the word of god. I think people are turned off to the whole straight faced religon, I think this show spreads religon in a fun and upbeat manor! But I totally understand where you're coming from though!

  • I am in this play.... I can't help but feel like it's... disrespectful. Does anyone else feel this way? I'm thinking of just quitting... I don't feel like this is something God would want. It's almost like it makes fun of the crucifixion, and well everything before it too.

  • @LotusButterflyBlossm

Here's something to think about. The parables were told to serve 2 purposes: help people without formal education to understand the theological principles and enable them to repeat what they had learned. Jesus spoke to His audience, not down to them. The play and film were just another way to bring the Gospel to another audience. You're witnessing just as much as a preacher in a pulpit or someone taking a sandwich and a blanket to a homeless person.

  • I've ALWAYS loved the rock guitar solos in the background. Epic.

  • intense...

  • hahahha im sorry but i love that awkward wave Jesus/Victor does at the beginning

  • I'm in this play for my church:)

  • i miss this i did godspell in 10th grade and i am a 12 th grader and it was my fav musical to be apart of it so if your school does it i would be in it

  • *Continued

He thought that the joy had been taken out of the Gospel. So he wrote a show showing that joy. It's also symbolic of the community of the disciples, and then they have to take off they're make up and go out into the world preaching to everyone else, leaving that community.

  • @WAIARA4U

the man who wrote Godspell did not mean it to be like that AT ALL. He did not write Godspell to make fun of the religion. A lot of people think that the clown make up is a way of making fun, but it's not. The story is that he went to an Easter service and everyone was annoyed that it had snowed and he was upset that no one was rejoicing or happy about the resurrection.

  • @b3lov3d11 Um...no...I suppose people can perceive it any way they wish, but the creator of this production used the character of Jesus from the Christian faith only to further illustrate his point about building a community, they used sections from the christian holy book and the Jesus in order to build their community. I believe that this production's primary goal was to illustrate the community, not the religion behind it (though using the christian religion was a way of furthering)

  • LONG LIVE GOD! ....DAY BY DAY.....THREE THINGS I PRAY, TO SEE MORE CLEARLY, TO LOVE MORE DEARLY, TO FOLLOW MORE NEARLY.

    I'M PROPERTY OF JESUS CHRIST

  • He didnt ressurect! This is missing so much of the point of the Jesus story!

  • @Marshmally823 agreed!!!

  • What I love about this show is that I am not a Christian, and yet this last scene never fails to make me cry.

  • @mseula1 How can you not be a Christian after seeing such a powerful message of Christ in this movie??

  • @mseula1 Same I'm an atheist and this and Jesus Christ SuperStar are two of my favorite shows ever

  • Where are the credits? The music JAMS! Thanks for the uploads.

  • doing this musical right now in New Philadelphia, Ohio ♥ couldn't be happier to do it.

  • @Showtunesilly. The point of the movie was not about Jesus and his resurrection, it was about the forming of the community, and the struggles.

  • @FredCoProductions "prepare ye the way of the LORD, light of the WORLD, LORD your DYING"..... this is not about Jesus??? i highly doubt this.

  • @FredCoProductions "prepare ye the way of the LORD, light of the WORLD, LORD youre DYING"..... this is not about Jesus??? i highly doubt this.

  • Crucifixion was a stretching of the diaphragm,(the musculomembranous partition separating the abdominal and thoracic cavities and serving as a major muscle aiding inhalation) the spear did not kill him nor did starvation or thirst, basically this method of death was suffocation from the inside, the muscles did not allow you to breathe.

  • so confused. that wouldn't have killed him. the reason why jesus died is because he was nailed in and hung by the branches of the cross. How would he have died this way?

  • @Thejokerjuniorshow - i agree as far as strict biblical doctrine. however, it is also art, not meant to be a line-by-line teaching from the bible. so, as art, it is simply conveying that Jesus had to die for our sins.

  • @Thejokerjuniorshow Crucifixion was a stretching of the diaphragm,(the musculomembranous partition separating the abdominal and thoracic cavities and serving as a major muscle aiding inhalation) the spear did not kill him nor did starvation or thirst, basically this method of death was suffocation from the inside, the muscles did not allow you to breathe. This was not specific to Jesus but used as painful execution for many during this period

  • @Thejokerjuniorshow In other words, crucifixion was sufficating. the nails, hunger, and thirst were just a bonus

  • Offering up your life in behalf of others is so very different from quitting...

  • So from Jesus self sacrifice we see that suicide is approved by god, funny that the church now says its a sin.

Loved this movie so many years ago and still love it, still a Pantheist

  • @pkristen100 - Jesus' sacrifice wasn't suicide - He didn't want to do it as a man (see "Gethsamane" from JCS or in the bible) - but as God did require the sacrifice of a pure life for the forgiveness of sins, it had to happen. so, He chose to give himself for us in the ultimate way.

  • @njiuma I disagree, he knew the movements of Judus and the path set for him. His choice to follow the path to his death or by denying "The word of God" to live. How is this different to saying I am sick of this world and wish to see the hereafter and my maker and by means of self demise to end ones life????

Jesus allowed himself to die ergo suicide

  • @pkristen100 its not suicide because Jesus died for us and He did not kill himself.

  • @pkristen100 Jesus knew from the beginning of time that He was going to end up dying for our sins. He did not let himself die as an escape, because He could have gone to heaven at any time. He could have had thousands of angles to come protect him, but he chose not to, and that was not for a selfish reason like suicide. He know the minute He was born that he had to give up his life for us. He came back to Earth later; he did not die so that he could escape, or why else would he have come back?

  • @Brookewildfire What kind of a God requires a death to pay for anything? I hope God has grown up and matured since then.

  • @kimchalister God gave humans free will. Judas betrayed Jesus by his own will.

  • @ImTheFaceTutorials Your reply doesn't address what I said. Besides that, if God is omniscient, then there is no free will, if there is free will, then God isn't omniscient. So, what kind of a God requires a death to pay for anything?

  • Respond to this video...What kind of a God requires a death to pay for anything. It makes no sense.

  • @kimchalister His son's life to pay for everyone else's sins, and still people are not grateful for the sacrifice made.

  • @kimchalister Jesus was the perfect human. The only human who truly deserved to go to Heaven, but he loved us so much that he took all of our sins, the sins of mankind onto himself. He paid the ultimate price for us so we could be with God in Heaven. but He was raised again!! and by accepting Jesus into our hearts and lives we become Jesus' !!!

I hope this answers your question

  • @Brookewildfire

It's true that people who commit suicide do so for selfish reasons, but so what? Do you know who is more selfish? People like you who expect others should have to live a life they never asked for and don't want. When you are blind to your own selfishness you are the worst kind of person in the world. Take the log out of your own eye...

  • @you12bme You sound like you have a lot of pain in your life and my heart goes out to you. Almost all of us have contemplated suicide at some point but please try to remember that while the storm can last years or even decades, it will pass eventually. When you kill someone you remove them from the world. When you kill yourself, you remove the world from you.

  • @73rwe My point was that people who kill themselves are no more selfish than those they leave behind. A slave who wants to escape is no more selfish than the slave owner who wants him to stay. And a slave does not deserve to hear from his slave owner any B.S about being selfish.

  • they performed this at Canterbury just a few weeks ago :OOO it was sooo freakin good!!!!!!

  • I am an atheist and love this movie, mostly because of the music and the common sense of most of the parables. My co-workers get a kick out of hearing this soundtrack coming from my office. "There goes the atheist praising the Lord again!" Good music can do that!!

  • We're doing this for drama...this is one of the hardest scenes to do

  • @ 8:30 when the disciples turn the corner and people suddenly appeared...What is the symbolism there? The Lords' children? Life goes on? I haven't seen this since 79'.

    Thanks for posting. :o)

  • @WAIATA4U Departing from the actual ending of the Gospel, the movie shows a dead Jesus who did not rise from the grave. Consequently, the disciples return to the same monotonous meaningless world they left. The infinite regression image during the end credits is to show this meaningless life goes on forever and that the only temporary relief is in the escapist fantasy of religion (which is for fools as the disciples’ clown suits imply).

  • @bellatrixg & @WAIATA4U - "...dead Jesus who did not rise from the grave..." - no, it shows that Jesus had to die for our sins - which doesn't depart at all from the actual ending of the Gospel. Jesus did in fact die, He had to, for us to receive forgiveness from God the Father. His shed blood covers over our sins.

  • @WAIATA4U & @bellatrixg "...only temporary relief is in the escapist fantasy of religion (which is for fools as the disciples’ clown suits imply)." - only those willing to be "fools" for God have a place in His kingdom, we who follow Jesus are viewed as "clowns" by world standards, science etc. from the beginning of the production, only the chosen hear God's call, the busy people of New York don't hear - "narrow is the way to life, and few find it" as Jesus said.

  • "infinite regression image during the end credits is to show this meaningless life goes on " - Jesus taught that seed and harvest, marrying and being given in marriage will continue - until the return of the Son of God. so, it could easily mean that life indeed does go on, as the many only view pursuit of worldy concerns important - but those few of faith have a greater calling on their life but are dismissed by those Godless souls, blind to His love and power.

  • @WAIATA4U - I think it's symbolic in the respect that throughout the movie they seemed to be in their own little "religious" world but that at the end of the day everyone has to mingle among each other. It's up to each individual to carry the message with them, in them and spread the message among those who may not be fortunate enough to "get it" on their own.

  • amazing play! we're performing it at my school (:

ik the fence is metaphorically the cross and the ribbon is his blood but...like how did he die?? he just sat there then died...doesnt anyone think thats weird?

  • The "Prepare Ye" Reprise links the disciples being called out of the world with the hope of a living savior and their returning to the world with a dead one while incoherently celebrating around the corpse. A morbid twist on the Gospel that made for controversy. Some revivals of the play "fixed" the end with a resurrected Jesus returning to the stage during the Reprise. The difference between hope and insanity.

  • This movie always gives me a warm feeling. Long live God!

  • We often say if we could relive that moment things would turn out differently with benefit of hindsight.

I think this prooves that no matter how many times we had to relive a moment the results would always be the same.

We are a flawed species all we can do is learn.

  • Actually Godspell is based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, not John. although you can find the same stories in all four of the Gospels: Matthew, mark, Luke, and John

  • godspell was amazing

  • how is he dying? electric fence of what? or did they just used symbilism with no definate answer

  • @Ryanthe0man Its symbolysm, the fence would be the cross, and the red ribbons represent the blood.

  • wow , so amazing..

  • godspell 2: Zombie Jesus.

    j/k <3

  • For any Godspell fans in NY (or visiting NY), the final scene was shot at 56th and either Park or 5th. I shot this Youtube clip with my cell phone and brought it with me and used it as a reference to find this exact spot. Visiting there was a nerdy dream come true for me.

  • Judas=coo koo

  • When Jesus sings here it reminds me a lot of Super Heroes from Rocky Horror... and he wears a Superman shirt :)

  • When Judas/John started going "Yata tatata", I thought he'd lost it XD

  • The first time i watched this i was crying my eyes out

  • I LOVE how Prepare Ye bleeds into a Day by Day reprise.

  • that was awsome im touched :'( :)

  • Thank you for posting all these. I do appreciate you!

  • awesome soundtrack

  • this is from, john, the most abstract and different book, but it still gives a great point of view

  • LONG LIVE JC!!! PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD :)

  • Wow, the ending isn't morbid at all...

  • Remember that this isn't the original story. If you really want to understand what's going on, read it in the Bible. Although this presentation of the story just get the overall story right there are many things that were altered for artistic license. So please don't base your belief on this movie without reading it from the original source.

  • i don't understand the thing with the police coming and the next day jesus was dead. explain that to me please.

  • Im a new found christian, and i want to know what the people are doing as jesus dies.

  • @BADESaBEAST Really, it can be taken a couple of different ways. One way, is, because Jesus died for the sins of the world, it could be a representation of their sins being transferred to Him as He is being "crucified". Another, is that this is just a more exaggerated way of the apostles mourning Jesus' crucifixion, as the rest of the movie is also exaggerated. I've heard it interpreted other ways too, though.

  • I asked one of my schoolteachers, way back when I was still in high school, what the point of him dying without a reincarnation scene was. She said that them carrying his body was really them "Carrying the word." I understood it much better from then on.

  • omg this seriously opened my eyes

  • We perfomed this at my school

  • NOOOOO! wait.. how did he die??? And why were the police there??

  • @NightOwlEyes1 ELECTRICAL FENCE LMFAO:L:L

  • @NightOwlEyes1 Police were the Roman guards there to arrest Jesus Christ after Judas betrayed him.

    Not sure how he died.

  • UGH! I don't like this ending!!! I wanted to see Jesus resurrect!

  • I'm sorry but this is the wierdest dying scene ever! but it fits the way they tell the story!

  • I was the drummer for this when we did it back in '06. The dress rehearsal before the performance, our Jesus literally couldn't sing, he was crying so hard.

  • ahh whenever we are acting this part out on stage i get so emotional that i don't have to "fake cry". haha. :P

  • I love this musical.

  • I find it interesting to compare Garber's role in Eli Stone

  • A classic!!!

  • It is a brilliant movie. There is no resurrection, the Baptist is Judas as well, Godspell is crucified with red ribbons, John and other apostles are women, and God is just the ability to have joy: that is precisely why the original Godspell theatre story is played by clowns, of which a red nose on the tip of Godspell remains in some scenes. The final shot, since the moment it sunrises till they turned around the street corner and become the crowd is just one of the best cinema moments ever.

  • really good movie, the crucifixion scene was really powerful and emotional, but i when i watched this in school today, one thing struck me as weird..if he was dead, how could he sing that he was dead? :P

  • @Jobafan08 yeah, I asked mom about that the first time I watched this movie. She just snapped at me and told me she was trying to watch and I should be quiet :-)

  • Im Judas in my production of GodSpell. Watching this makes me feel bad because I think to myself. I have to do that?

    :*(

  • Ya i am in the play too but im not judas i sing beautiful city and o' bless the lord my soul but my friend and i have to cry on sene and trust me its not going to be that hard. :`( but this is an awsome musical

  • @allaroundmoviemaker

Without Judas doing what he did, none of us would have been saved.

  • @KajiShinKun If it wasn't Judas , it would have been Peter. Our sin put him there. We all put him there. But he had to do it. He paid for all our sins and gave us a way in. Thankyou God !!!!

  • @KajiShinKun that's not the point of godspell dude...

  • @KajiShinKun thats a real brain puzzler, judas did wrong, but it caused us to be saved....but what about Judas? does our Father have compassion on him? Will he be in Heaven? We will not know until he calls us to the gates.

  • @Ryanthe0man Judas is in hell for all eternity. He committed suicide; a sure sign of all loss of hope in a merciful God. Unlike Peter, who repented for his denial of Christ, Judas did not. He had no faith, and without faith, it is impossible to please God. God is also just. It is a grave sin to take your own life....thou shall not kill; including self. God is the author of life, and death. Seek the truth NOW. For it is too late when you're dead.

  • @Ryanthe0man It is not our place to know what happened to Judas. His fate is between him and God.

  • @happylmc I believe your right, we'll just leave it to God. That's the best way after all :) I performed this play last night as John the Baptist (but not Judas) and was so moved

  • @Ryanthe0man . Judas has been an enigma as old as the gospel itself, not very much was known of the man himself.did he do what he did in service to God? did Jesus ask him to betray him to fulfill the prophecy? or was it sheer greed on his part? if you look at this scene, and granted it is just for theatrics, it certainly seems that Judas was reluctant to say the least to follow through with the deed, and did so only with the prompting of Jesus.

  • @seany722 In one of the gospels, it is mentioned that Judas hung himself out of guilt. So the fact that he appears to show reluctance in this film is realistic. It can be inferred that he showed a great amount of regret for what he did.

  • @KajiShinKun Judas was the fall guy, just another part of gods plan. I think it reflects worse on god than judas.

  • me too...and I'm not Christian. ;)

  • i wish that they had made a sequel about the ressurection.

    love this movie!

  • @ShowtuneSilly YES!

    And make it Godspell II.

  • @drummerlead theoretically we or belivers or whatever ARE the reserection-we/you live it out 'day by day' as we/you go about our/your daily lives. it's not just about pie in the sky in the sweet bye and bye. You're supposed to be "being Jesus" to everyone else, right here and NOW. Jesus is supposed to live in you, right? Go be Jesus if you believe anything he said. Go feed some hungry people, cloth some poor people, you know....Love one another.

  • @ShowtuneSilly - I still believe the final scenes of the masses of people represent resurrection and eternal life. The movie is full of symbolism as you would know - what if it had ended just with them carrying Jesus' body off to the corner?

  • @ShowtuneSilly Me too. For a project I once did, I rewrote the lyrics to the "Finale" and all the lyrics were about Easter. I announced it saying that it was a much-needed epilogue to the show. I still stand by that. I think having Jesus resurected in the show is unnecessary, but as an audience member you just feel so bad for Jesus.

  • @ShowtuneSilly my moms friend wrote one.... its called pentijoy.. ill post a vid of it

  • @ShowtuneSilly Godspell is not about the ressurection of Jesus. It is about the formation of a community. Also, many productions use the curtain call as a symbol of the ressurection, having Jesus appear in a white T-shirt.

  • That's a very interesting interpritation of the Easter story. I was wondering how they were going to show the crusifixtion. Very clever. And for those who don't understand or haven't read the script. John the baptist becomes judas to show the contrast of good and evil. Somthing along those lines.

  • I dont understand. John the babtist comes and hugs Jesus but even after that he blows the whistle and then kills him?! and after that he helps carry him off. I feel like I'm missing the whole point. Can someone please explain what exactly happens?

  • The actor who plays John the Baptist doubles as Judas. Judas blows the whistle, betraying Jesus.

  • @rosie11954 John the baptist and Judas are essentially combined into one part.

  • Amazing, truly beautiful music. I can still appreciate the musical, even if I am an athiest.

  • wonderful; wonderful; wonderful - amazing

  • i really like the crucifixion scene, it's so powerful. but i don't like that there's no official resurrection scene. :-/

  • il doppiaggio di questo film era affidato alla sedief con lionello,la monica, cortesi, foschi ecc. e l'interprete principale gesù è stato nel cast di titanic come ideatore del transatlantico e poi il serial alias non dimentichiamolo

  • I've seen this movie dozens of times. I know it's coming.

But when morning comes, and Gilmer looks up at 6:00, I start crying. I'm crying as I type, in fact.......

  • I don't cry, but I do get the most amazing shivers up and down my spine whenever I watch that bit or hear it on the soundtrack.

  • this is a great film/musical/play, but it still has nothing on Jesus Christ Superstar

  • @BillyandBarry Oh NO! I am sorry but I will disagree to the end with you there.

Godspell totally treats the Gospel with respect and scriptural accuracy (where it counts anyway) in a way that Superstar didn't...and didn't on purpose. Just watched this for a class and fell. In. Love. The crucifixion makes me cry in a way that no Jesus film except The Passion can.

  • Im..confused, how did Judas betray Jesus?

  • yes he did

    read matthew 26 14-16

  • I don't understand why Jesus kisses Judas instead of the other way around, but otherwise, this is amazing.

  • @GiveZeeAChance Jesus kisses Judas, because in this version, he's telling Judas to do what he has to do aka betraying him, but he still loves him just as much as he did before the betrayal. That kiss was about Jesus' love for Judas.

  • When I go to NYC in March, I'm going to visit the exact corner featured at the end of the film, something I've always wanted to do. (I sent an email to someone from the movie and got the location - If you're interested, it's 56th at either Park or Fifth.) Nerdy, yes, but it makes me happy.

  • It's not nerdy! It's a cool thing to do, if it's in your heart. (And it looks like Park Avenue to me.)

  • Godspellisn't about the resurection. It is about how Jesus touched people and made them realise things about God.

It explains itall at the end of teh script if you have it.

There's too much to type on here but it basically says how people complained about itor how people saw teh body carrying as teh resurection but it wasn't about him resurecting.

It's not the point of the play.

    X's

  • It really bothers me that there in no Resurrection. They're just carrying Jesus' dead body around and dancing. That's not what happened. Jesus died, was put in the tomb, and three days later, HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD!!! And what I read is true-in Godspell, Jesus never sheds blood. Don't get me wrong-this is in my Top 5 favorite musicals of all time. But it isn't entirely accurate-the whole point of God's sacrifice of His Son was so that the shedding of His blood would save us. God Bless!

  • @Treblemaker09

In the modern stage versions they present the Ressurected Christ.

  • I think you'll find that the ending where the corner is turned and all the people come forward is meant to represent the resurrection in an odd sort of way. A return to life I think.

  • @chucksfan1 I was confused about the ending, then I remembered this was based on Matthew's gospel, so I looked at the end... "Go ye therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name or the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you, always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 My interpretation is that the NY street represents "All the nations", and also, that Jesus is with us, even today.
