Also, if you see my truck used to rev just up to 4500 rpm, that sucked. @chinchillawrangler it could go down from teh gas being pulled away from the sensor. my 89 firebird and my 96 trans am would do that but only when braking or turnin left. 3/4 turns into 1/2 while braking and if you brake and turn left it went down to 1/4 really quick then back up. in my trans am i could floor it up to about 100 like 8 times and lose an 1/8th of a tank, but it was 14.5 gallons.

@chinchillawrangler well my T/A's highway mileage was around 25mpgs at 65mph. its actually the best MPG car iv had. you gotta remember too that my trans am used less gas to get to 60 than your truck. mine took 5.6 seconds, yours probably about twice that so probably twice the gas. i now have an 08 V6 f150 with a cold air intake. during the summer i can play all day, floor it to 100 a bunch of times...whatever i want, and still get above 17mpg. probably gets about 21 highway.

Your truck only weighs 5700 lbs, mine weighs 10000 lbs, and the only modification i had was exhaust. No chip at that time, you shift at 5800rpm mine at 4500rpm see? I still have lot of things to do to my truck. Its my work truck, and i bet i haul 3 times more weight than you do in your truck. I believe its not bad for a 10000 lbs dually truck.

It's not about where you shift at all, it's about the efficiency of the transmission. I command my shift @ 5500 but the pcm doesn't react fast enough so it shifts at 5895 as per the computer. I overshoot my powerband because of my tq converters' inefficiency, which dumpes me back early in the powerband after the shift.

And as per GM, yours weighs 5299 for a 2wd. If you're a K3500 you'd probably be about 300 ontop of that.

Yours isn't bad, but the transmission tuning did need some attention.

lol think logically for a second. I have a 4dr 3/4 ton HD truck that is 5700 curb weight. You have a 3500 4x4. The transfer case and front axle and all that is probably a good 800, then the extra lief springs in the back collectively are probably 400, and the extra beef in the frame is negligible but we'll say 800 on that as well. So guessing, it should be about 8000 max. You've got to be looking at GVWR. In that case, mine is 9,200 GVWR inside the door.

Trucks and cars with 'pulling gears' generally haul ass on kickdowns. The purpose of a numerically higher / lower rear end gear is to keep the engine in its powerband. Aakv2001 and I have the same transmission, which is a 2.48:1 first gear, 1.48:1 second gear, 1:1 third gear and a .75:1 overdrive. Your point about it being a dually is moot; this truck isnt much heavier and has an engine that is 1.4L larger. Oh and swearing proves nothing.
