Go aussies. We tried to make a dirt pipe but the dirt turned to dust when we shaped it. If only they had something like that with a bunch of trails just before it somewhere near or in canberra.

Thought so. Wouldn't it compact the dirt or something if you rolled carpet over. Because somebody told me that putting carpet over a dusty halfpipe or something woul'd make the dirt "sweat" and constant riding would compact it to near concrete.

yeah, that could be an option, we had carpet on our downramps, it works pretty well but yeah it does eventually dry out again in the heat.

I guess so but maybe the carpet would compact and dirt would get inside the carpet therfore making the carpet solid. And constant 'traffic' on carpet flattens it. 90psi street tyres with 50kg+ people riding 12kg+ bikes would be enough traffic to keep a carpet solid. And if it doesn't work? We'll just have to use the quickset or bug the council to build a skatepark in the town.

I'm from a small town/village type thing near canberra in aus and nobody here will get the hint that we would kindly LOVE a skatepark. Even just one of those metal above ground ones where it's just a qp on both ends and a funbox and/or spine in the center. we made a dirt qp on a bank next to the road (it was banned), We signed a petition to get one built but it didn't work. the town got a grant from the council a few weeks later and a silly path and n ball court were built. NOBODY USES THEM!

Yeah i should.. There is a skate park near here but there's no point in going there like everyday. At the moment i'm building up my bike so i just keep things like the pipe etc in one peice and then shred it once it's done. Plus it's hard to keep the dirt pipe in tact because the property owns cattle and they fuck it up everyday. If i go down there once more and find cow prints all over it, i;m screwing the idea and i'll just build jumps/pump tracks etc.

Aww ok i've been to a few parks there, tuggers and i forget the name of another one where the riders dont really bust many tricks but the height and style is so dialed. Your BMX right? I'm on MTB so Stromlo was good haha sounds like a pain haha

Yeah tuggers is really nice. My old bike is like two years old and all the parts on it stuffed up so i'm gonna to get a whie subrosa frame and cover it in red and white bits with a tad of blue and it's gonna be pretty sick and light. I fixed up the pipe and made a fence where the cows used to go so now it's sick & the rain made it muddy and riding it has made concrete lips on it. At the moment we're building a pump track and trails etc and it starts as a sorta hip coming out of the pipe.

We talked about how cool something like this would be ages ago after watching Bestwick flow the half pipe like a trails rider and figured it would only be a while before someone thought of bringing pipe and dirt together, but this is something else...
