The rotten tomato meter works by finding a bunch of reviews and finding what THEY gave the movie. They add them all together, do some nice little math calculations, and come out with the number we get. So it doesn't mean that 54% of people like it. It just means that it's okay. Normally, 25% or below means it's bad. 25-55% means it's okay-ish. 55% to 85% means it's pretty good. and 85% and up means that it's definitely worth it.

It's hard to read, but it's there. Sometimes i think we just didn't get it because we get absorbed in the shocking events and characters.

Kind of like the show Eastbound and Down. Jody Hill does that show as well. On first view you don't really find it funny and you hate pretty much everybody. But a couple repeat views and you start to "get" it.
