Oh, Cracker....I know the album well. I think I was about 13 when it came out an I memorized every song, every word. Perhaps one of the greatest albums ever....every song is classic and some obscure..I love "Harmony".
@petere1959 From a less popular album? Man, are you way off base. GYBR is Elton's MOST popular album he ever made. And his best, And biggest selling album, with over 15 million copies sold. He never got this good again.
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, a double album, is my favorite Elton album. Every song is so strong. This man of great talent, was at his absolute peak at that time.
Great video to a truly fantastic song which has soooooo many memories for me. I want it played at my funeral, Its so amazing. Thanks Elton and Bernie, one of your masterpieces.
Fantastic video to go with a great song and a fabulous ending to it. This was one of those rare LP's where you could listen to all four sides and enjoy the whole thing!
@weottertalk He is actually quoted as saying that it took him TWO DAYS to write the album as he was stuck in a hotel room in Jamaica too scared to come out because of the heavy atmosphere on the streets at the time. Amazing what fear can do. Perhaps he should've been scared more often! Still a genius.
This was my favorite album as a child and I was born in 1967.discovered in 1974 when candle in the wind carried every radio station period. This song is incrediable and the album will never be outdone. The hits overshadowed so many songs but really every song brilliant. You will never again find a CD with 17 songs with more hits and musical genious.I was blessed to live it and still today applaud it
It's amazing how we all forgot this song. blame DJs an music critics who always pick up on the wrong songs. 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me' and 'Candle In The Wind' are not in the same league as this epic, yet everyone focuses on them. This is a bad mistake, to ignore valuable gems in favour of the bandagon-jumpers' choice.
Absolutely love the guitar solo on this one! I remember when this album came out and I nearly wore the vinyl out listening to it over and over again. A true classic.
I love this song.. I think it may be the best Elton/Bernie song of all.. We have all been in that frame of mind. having to read people to protect yourself.. 'Sweet Painted Lady" is also great. Remeinds me of my port calls in the Med , US Navy 1072-73..
thank you . any way it is a masterpicec!! pleace come and see my videos in my user. and i hope that "this song has no title" will come faster as you can.
Thanks for vid to go along with the song. Great memories for me too - in fact taught this one to my son on piano - I'll share this with him as he's never heard Elton sing it (I only have it on vinyl which just won't play in his mp3 player...)
Yeah vinyl dont play that good on mp3 players , yellow brick road was the first LP I ever bought on vinyl as I fancied the girl in the music section in Woolies , turned out to be best LP I have ever bought since and I went on to marry this girl .
