The Uragaan is very intimidating, because of it's massive armor-plated tail, and it's big jaw bone. (can be called chin).

i'm now fighting with 3 parts of lagiacrus for wich you don't have to bring up horns. i have a spiral lance + and an acrus lance. but everytime i want to beat uragaan or rathalos or barrioth i don't succeed. what do you suggest?

@dudryan90 Heat Exhaustion or Fell the Lava Beasts. High rank is best but by that time you have no need for any shard weapons, so... Just do one of those two depending on what skills you can bring. HE is harder but usually nets more rewards.

@eldest91 As SD said, a critical from barioth= a regular from 'Tower at green sharpness. A critical at purple sharpness is about double what the barioth lance does. Since Barioth lance reaches it's full potential 55% of the time even at its lowest Fiendish Tower still beats that, and at it's highest it doubles it. Take sharpness multipliers into account (or you'll waste Uragaan rubies on a Gigas hammer like me...)

But purple sharpness gives the same multiplier as a critical hit, meaning 'Gleam and Fiendish Tower have 100% affinity for quite a while (about 4 minutes with ' Gleam) so i think that beats 55. You don't need to tell me I was a fan of Barioth weapons until I found purple sharpness' multiplier.

Why do you not bring in mega dash juice when using the lance or the hammer as i could imagine it would be a great help? Is the amount of time spent making and gathering the materials simply not worth it?

For breaking the uragaans jaw the bowgun, of all things, i am positive is a good choice because of the ability to line up water shots through it, perhaps i am wrong but that's how i grinded for his jaw.

on a side note would you recommend buying MHP3rd from Play Asia?

@COHeth Mega Dash Juice is usefull for a lance when you constantly need to be on the offensive and be able to block, or need to charge a lot. For the hammer it's only good if you fight a monster where you really need to constantly be moving and get off snipe-shots.

It's usefull, but I would not waste it for any fights exept the hardest ^^ Why waste materials on it, when it is not needed? I mean, if you can kill something under 20 minutes, it's pretty decent. In my book that is :)

Search for a weapon calculator and you'll see; blue sharpness gives pretty much NO bonus, and the bonus it does is smaller than the bonus of Fiendish Tower's added Affinity/raw. You're one to talk when you can't accept the Barioth lance is laughable once you get actually get good gear.

maaaaaaaaaaaaan UNDERTAKER?! this weekend I have done about 15 mining quests. In that time I got probably five rustshard and not even ONE turned to a rust weapon. I think with that rust greatsword and the rathalos plate after the 4th run I gave all my luck to the devil...

Actually the stones you want for rustshards are the light blue ones that look like they have shells in them, you can kind of seen one on the right side right after SD mentions it. You CAN get them from the dark blue and red (rarely) but it's a much lower chance (like 8% compared to 32% or some such).

And in case you haven't looked it up yet, Uragaan does give 4 carves. That's the reason you typically want to kill instead of capture.

Umm, that spot in area 5 was not a Rustshard spot. That spot will give Mystery Charms and Adv Armor Spheres at a high rate, but never Rustshards.

The problem is that I'm using two different programs to record both the game and then my commentary, and then I have to resync manually. If it's just a minor desync it'll just have to do!

@MustEnjoyPie9988 No, not at all. Fiendish Tower has either about 500 raw and affinity or about 450 raw and 20 affinity. Also with purple sharpness it has a 1.5 multiplier for raw and elemental. Basically it's a critical hit all the time, either that or a critical critical hit (1.75). Meaning a regular has 750 raw and 225 Dragon, critical has 1,125 (with reductions from the monsters defense) and 337.5 Dragon. So its a lot stronger.

@MustEnjoyPie9988 Okay you're still not getting it; Fiendish Tower has purple sharpness, meaning 1.5 damage increaser to raw and elemental damage. That's the same as 100% affinity. 100%>55%, okay? And it also has 50-100 more raw damage and 5-20% of a critical hit, which with its sharpness is a double critical for 1.75 times the damage. Just look up the weapon calculators before you say things when you don't take all parts of a weapon into account.

@MustEnjoyPie9988 While the Sabertooth is amazing, a critical hit from it makes it only equivalent to the damage of the fiendish tower.

368*1.25=460

Fiendish tower (P) has a raw of 460, and usually has a bit of a boost in the beginning due to extra color sharpness.

In the end game though, you can't go wrong with any of those three weapons. They all do great raw damage, just match them up with the elemental weaknesses as best you can.

Wel IMO lance is a really good tailcutting weapon. I can always tailcut Lagiacrus with lance, even if it's the repel quest. The worst tailcutting weapon for me is Hammer. XD No, i'm not an idiot and I know that hammers CAN'T tailcut because they are only impact damage weapons.

@haggis855 Hm... I agree on cutting Lagiacrus tail with Lance is best .. but I personally found the switch axe to be the best tail-cutting weapon. Without the switch axe, farming my 30 rathian and 40 rathalos for 3 plates each would be a pain.

@Kammorremae Well Uragaan is weak against Water, Dragon, Ice in that order. But it's hard to say about these 2 weapons since Tusk Lance + has that 40% affinity. But i would propably lean against Undertaker since affinity is only useful if you have +50% of it.

@Rarnd666 He's mentioned in a few of his videos that growing stormsender seeds and selling them will make quite a bit of money on top of what you'll get from quests.

@Rarnd666 It depends on what stage of the game you're in. In general stormsender seeds have the best point->money ratio. In general if you're running your fish farm efficiently you should constantly be gaining in both moga points and money.

@Rarnd666 Once you've upgraded your fields to level 3 you can make a lot of money growing and selling stormsender seeds. Just make sure to fertilize them with something first.
