  • awesome

  • Wow, really awesome.

  • Excelente :)

  • Wow, this is really amazing!

I want to use this engine for my 2D Action MMORPG "Forgotten Elements"!

I wonder if it would be possible to use your work in combination with a JAVA game, feel free to contact me if you see a chance in this symbiosis!

  • I was looking for a good 2d game engine but couldn't find anything in my price range (zero), so I was watching a tutorial an making games in visual basic when I decided to type in "2d game engine"

    O.o

  • Those real-time shadows totally kick ass.

  • is this finished, looks fucking awsome, makes me wanna create a final fantasy rip off.

  • wow! im impressed!

really nice job on the illumination of the objects!

  • I am making my own mmo right now and i was wandering if i could use your engine?

  • totally. now just you should provide the tool to generate the normal maps because if the artist has three times the work as a more classical engine, its a pita that can have the consequence to chose another engine.

but i love it, its so neat it makes me urge to to an RPG with it...

  • Thanks, I'll consider your suggestion. Maybe not to include a normal map generator with the SDK, but to provide the tool that may be downloaded separately and also a tutorial on how to use it.

  • @AndreSan87 OR you could just write a short tutorial on how to use the easy, free and good Normalmap plugin that's been available for years for Gimp which is also free and multi-platform. ;-)

  • @eGax I already made it, its link is on the FAQ :) asantee.net/ethanon/normalmap_tutorial/creating_normalmaps.pdf

  • @AndreSan87 You did a good job with it too.

  • Very impressive.

    So it's all 2D ?

Could you make an example with isometric view ?

  • Yes, it's still 2D, it's all based on sprite bitmaps. But the normalmaps and the positioning system have three axis.

I don't have any isometric example yet because I don't have the artwork, but I'll try to show you something soon.

  • Thx for reply !

And I wonder how do you have the normal map images. Is it an automatic render with a software ?

  • Some of them are made with a regular "heightmap to normalmap" tool with a little help from Paint Shop Pro and some were rendered from 3ds max.

  • that looks awesome, well done
