Afghanistan never has and never will be a united functioning country. Too many ethnic, linguistic, tribal and religious rivalries. Nor will Afghanistan ever be able to produce food for all its needs under any circumstances, even with plenty of fertilizer. Indians have over 70% approval of the Afghan people. The Americans have over 50% because Americans don't know how to spend money the right way like India(via hospitals, culture, media, etc).
@wabdinur We went to the moon, I think we can do anything we put our mind to. We have thousands of troops in Japan but we don't have any on the border, sheesh. Anyway, I hope these talks work out..
You can't get an unconditional surrender from them because Afghanistan is not a united nation to begin with unlike Japan or Germany. NATO is not fighting a standing army...these are civilians turning into insurgents for several kinds of reasons (religion, criminal activity, ethnic rivalry, nationalism, etc).
I heard the better option for Afghanistan is to build up enough Afghan forces and to quickly leave that country so they can continue battling the insurgents.
By letting the Afghans fight the insurgents with the help of the UN...it legitimizes the government in the eyes of the Afghan people. It shows that their government is running things and not the foreigners.
So far now, the Afghan government can't even protect the capital city (Kabul) so why should the rural folks put their faith on this weak government? They are caught in between NATO and the Taliban and both sides are telling the rural folks to join their side.
@Yochananable well i think its time for you to suck my big black dick dumbnut.
