@therealheavyj Now you are right, it i not illegal to ignore these suggetions.. but you will be in viloation of CFR 91.13 careless and reckless operation of a aircraft. You are ignoring common sence.
Is it illigal per the FAA?, thought that some of the fpv sites said you could go 400 feet legaly(yes I know that looks higher than 400 feet) IDK, just asking..
Yeah, what is the range? In the specs for this system, under range, they only have a link to this video. But this video doesn't tell you the range? WTF?
Great video, very clear! I have a RV 900mhz 500mw setup and get horizontal interference lines on the video...running separate batteries for video. Have a look at my videos, any suggestions?
Hey. I got the XPS system and a RV 900mhz 500mw tx as yours, but I can't get my XPS system to work at anywhere near that range with the Vtx on. How did you position your gear to make it work.
What if you kill someone in a airplane? What your doing is dangerous to people who fly. If you dont think a 5lb model will go through a GA airplanes windshield, you are ignorant. BTW you wont get arrested, A civil fine from the FAA is what will happen.
These are not 5lb models, they are styrofoam and much much lighter than that. Flying out of traffic patterns is obviously a good idea... I am a pilot too and I understand the concern, but a thermalling buzzard is more dangerous than these models.
@helipilot727 , true, I looked up the weight of a slow stick. it is about a pound without the camera setup.Have you seen the idiots flying 40 sized trainers with these cameras? Do you want one of these hitting your rotors? These people have no regard to the possible danger they put others in. This is illegal per the FAA. I know I would not want to hit a 40 sized trainer @ 160 knots.
@therealheavyj Call your neighborhood FAA Flight Standards District Office and ask them if you don't trust me. Ask for a Operations Aviation Safety Inpector. Then ask him to explain AC 91-57, how it is the modelers responcibility to see and avoid full scale aircraft. It is also the modelers responcibility to fly at or below 400 feet.
Hello reznikvova; I have seen the equipment at Range Air site. I use currently 2.4 GHZ on my planes. Are you using Range Airs patch antenna on RX 8 DBI? Is this on 900 MHZ? Also is it better not so line of sight?
Data rate???

Are you mad? Why the hell would you put this thing up at like 10,000 feet, if it stalls its coming down on someones house or a plane could hit it.
nbarile18 7 months ago
Honestly, I understand some of your concerns, but I can't imagine the odds of a plane striking one of these to be more than 1/1,000,000,000

What range did you get on this?

Reznikvova,
What max range acheived with the standard 900MHz 500mW transmitter using the receiver with its standard antenna?
Thank you

Is this the 900Mhz unit that the FCC just forced you to stop selling?

I want to fly this thing, can you stream it live on a web site or something?
KH198 3 years ago
r u retarded?
scolen3 3 years ago
it would be totally possible to stream the video signal live if you had an internet connection at the airfield.
tnick2 3 years ago 6
@scolen3
No you are.
Of course you can do that. It's easy.
Use video feed from receiver to laptop video plugin and wi-fi Internet connection.

You aircraft is really high in the vid. Are you beyond vivual range flying with FPV using goggles?
chrisfev01 4 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
he has remote spotters in nearby baloons so he is always flying within visual range as the law requires.

I yet to get arrested for flying my RC too high/far in FPV. LOL! And yes, I take advantage of the 3+ km range of 1000mw systems.

So keep your eyes open. I promise to fly only planes that are big enough for you to see. 15'+ span and very bright colors.

@paulflyer Advisory circulars are non-regulatory and as the intro says, "voluntary" and "good practice." but not illegal.
