I can't see any tilt at the beginning (even though the roll is quite clear)... I think the roll of the second stage may have been intended (for even heating and/or stabilizing) but got a bit too fast and uncontrolled at the end. I wonder if the roll at the start was realy an anomaly or if it was kind of an very early roll program, like the space shuttle, just earlier... but it's more likely an anomaly since any planned roll program wouldn't make sense that early and with that kind of rocket.
@echalone Yes, I watched it several times and the logo on the side of the vehicle as it rolls misled me. I did not note any pitch. I wonder why it rolled, though. I have read about 'tower avoidance maneuvers' where the rocket pitches to avoid striking the service tower. Perhaps it rolls for the same reason? Maybe it is rolling so that the outboard engies are out of line with the service tower.
The big question, though, is: Did they recover the first stage? That would be a first.
