  • If you play this on low, it makes an excellent background to 70's porn

  • sounds like this is from starships "red octupus"

  • @wingman572 I am reasonably sure this IS the Jefferson Starship recording from RED OCTOPUS.

  • I,m feeling Quaalude flashbacks :) QC

  • That's some gud mofo'n shit right there man

  • Rock and roll with the sweet sound of the fiddle loud and clear. It does not get any better!

  • I think Pete Sears and David Freiberg used to switch off between bass and keyboards, so it's hard to say for sure which one play keys on this one (unless someone knows!)

  • FYI, this is inaccurately labeled. While Papa John is on it, it's not a Papa John solo song. It appeared on the Jefferson Starship album "Red Octopus". That's Craig Chaquico on guitar and, I think, Pete Sears on keyboards.

Kick ass that you posted this either way.

  • I am so blessed to have seen him in concert and meet him. I am sure he is still kicking ass up there in heaven!!

  • Hello everyone,My name is Robby Thompson, I was catgut's band director and drummer during the 1980-1981 years we did a jazz version of this , that made this socittome groove look bad! He was a great man, a pleasure to work for.

  • Any chance you might point us at a recording of that version? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate it!

    Thanks!

  • This tune is an all around favorite for many, what a great fiddle player he was!!

  • just perfect!

  • A true musical gentleman. So generous.

  • Great class !!!!!!

  • I met Papa John at the hospital that I worked in I think in 1975 or 6 He was there to visit a friend. He was in town playing at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach cal. He was also the [if my info is correct] first to "amplify" a violin, I think it was 1940.

  • Yes me too... heard this wonderful gentleman play in the '70's in New Zealand no less! Good news travels!

  • thanks poppa john creach..r.i.p.

  • I heard him play this in the mid 80's at the 4queens in vegas. He was old but great.
