  • hi are u doing a master or a PhD there?

  • I agree with you. When we were in Japan, we were treated very nicely at the MickeyD compares to the gum chewing attitude here in the States.

  • I live in Japan, but I don`t usually eat out weekly. Customer service in general, whether in a cafe or at the mall, is much better than in the US. If I`m eating by myself, a worker or two will chat me up, if I`m with a friend, they leave us alone and won`t interrupt our conversation. Service for cell phones, iPod repair, etc is much much better, as well.

  • Whenever I go back to visit the US, I find customer service-restaurants, clothing stores, mall shops-to be very rude in comparison. But that`s the common complaint people usually have, every single American (and Canadian) I`ve met in Japan who`s mentioned anything about it said that the customer service back home seems rude in comparison now that he/she has lived in Japan.

As for hitching, always wear tops with sleeves (no sleeves=slutty in Japan) and `日本語はOK` works well from what I`ve heard.

  • In the US, people like to bitch about every little thing and I believe in Japan, their personality is to not bitch (as much). I think Japanese are more humble and don't constantly complain like we do in the US.
