  • LOVE BOWIE but not feeling this version.....

  • @agoodday4 I am with you. He seems so... uncomfortable... I liked him singing Arnold Layne, though, in this same concert.

  • rodger has a very nasal voice in this tune and bowie is more singing which actually doesn't fit

  • you know when you did a great show, when the crowds claps and scream for over 45 seconds!

  • Gilmours vocal is so much better

  • comfortably woken!

  • Clash of the Titans

  • David's voice in Comfortably Numb has been the greatest influence on my songwriting. Even in the chorus of my latest single which just came out a few days ago, you can hear the influence pretty clearly. If you like to listen, click my name.

  • @conflictman03 He is mentioned in the second line. Look carefully.

  • Oh my god! This is incredible!

  • You can't do much more with a guitar than what Gilmour accomplishes in the 2nd solo. Just amazing.

  • David Gilmour's voice sounds spot on in this performance. His vocals have that breathy smooth velvet quality that makes this song so moving.

  • @HeavySabre70 he sound %70 same from the studio recording he is amazing

  • @Blueeys200 I have watched a few different videos of David Gilmour singing this tune at different concerts and this is definitely one of the best performances I've heard. His voice must have been in perfect shape that night.

  • R.I.P Rick.....

  • this crowd is evidence of why gigs played to a standing audience will always be more powerful than ones played to a seated audience

  • !!!TWO OF THE MOST EPIC PEOPLE ALIVE ON ONE STAGE!!!

  • What the fuck is wrong with this crowd?? But look at 6:52, this man knows what it's all about! Fucking epic!

  • @JohnKulo the crowd was mindblown by the awesomeness of this song, and therefore it could not move for 8 minutes and 41 seconds.

  • Grandioso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks

  • Freakin EPIC

  • Yes!

  • David Gilmour, David Bowie, Roger Waters, ... made part of our generation, who gives us impulses when we were young. There is no god. There 're is only one life and lots of humans who can influence us.

  • sorry,I love bowie...but for this song water's voice is the best

  • Comment removed

  • I am not a david bowie fan, but i must admit he sings a great version of that wonderful song.

  • Magical music!!!!

  • nothing against David Bowie but to be honest, nobody is good enough to sing that except Gilmour or Waters. it just doesn't sound right to me.

  • Did we all forget Duane allman? Now that,s one bad ass axe player!! Just listen to Allman bros.Live at the Fillmore. Duane and Dicky betts kicked major ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @newspapertaxis1 Duane also played a badass slide guitar on layla

  • Gilmour,Playmore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i just cried uncontrollably watching this. thank god i wasn't there, i probably would have spontaneously combusted

  • I HATE Post Roger Waters Pink Floyd's version of Comf numb

David Gilmour is a great guitarist but he shouldn't have messed around with such a great song

Singing the verses as harmony melodies instead of main melody lines

    shame shame shame

  • @woodyinthevalley Dave Gilmour is THE greatest guitarist of all time bar none, and the solo on this is THE BEST he has EVER done. This is just another interpretation of possibly the best Floyd track ever made. He has'nt messed around with it, just put an amazing edge on it. Take Care Eh?

  • @mr1168726 he is one of the greatest but not the greatest. Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton are easily better

  • Comment removed

  • @mr1168726 so what if Jimi didnt live long enough. if david gilmour had died in 1972 and Jimi had lived on would you still say the same thing. Gilmour has had practice over the last 40 years, meanwhile Jimi has not.

  • Comment removed

  • @mr1168726 I wouldn't go with that. Yes Gilmour is extremely talented but outplay Clapton? NO and certainly not as good as Page. Remember what made these people famous. Page and Clapton were the motivating factors in Supergroups where as Gilmour joined a Supergroup. He is awesome but he only ranked number 82 in the top 100 guitarists. Although in that list there were several less deserving players. Hendrix was overrated imho. And all of that is just that, my opinion. Peace,

  • @killaoflimmus I think it's impossible when talking of Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Gilmour, etc. to be able to say who's the best. I was never a big fan of Hendrix but can see he was way beyond anyone at the time. In terms of sheer expression, I think Gilmour is just incredible. A simple technique, compared to some but who cares? Music is meant to move. Love Clapton, though he went very commercial. Jimmy Page is probably my favourite. A sloppy player live, sometimes but still amazing.

  • @capricious71 I think that's a good view mate. I do agree with you most of it anyway. Page was sloppy sometimes, but he wrote the songs that people tried to emulate. Clapton similarly so. These guys are the foundation stones and nothing can change that and Gilmour is by no means a second rate guitarist I just think the other poster has taken a very narrow minded view. They are all to be enjoyed. And let's face it, how often these days do we get a guitar solo in a track ? Never. So sad.

  • Comment removed

  • @mr1168726 Then you are very narrow minded because you only seem to mention Green/Gallagher. What about Ry Cooder? Jeff Beck? You are missing out and name dropping doesn't impress me. Mark Knopfler is an excellent guitarist and so to was Gary Moore. Snowy White is another and so is Hank Marvin. Look beyond the names that you seem to have limited your listening to. Oh, nearly forgot to mention Justin Hawkins before his drug fest, he showed real promise.

  • Comment removed

  • @mr1168726 Wasn't knocking him mate, but he's not the be all and end all of great guitarists. I am in my 40's so not sure how you'd know who I've seen live........!!!

  • @mr1168726 I'm not commenting on he skill as a guitarist, I am talking about singing the lead melody as a harmony. Its a structural thing and it sounds awefull in my opinion.

Pink Floyd is nothing without Roger Waters

  • @woodyinthevalley Fair enough Mate, But Roger Waters is nothing without Dave Gilmour, Wright & Mason. They all contributed greatly to the "Floyd" sound. Nothing can/ or will ever replace that.Seen most of the Floyd concerts over the last 40 years, and individually, none of them can create that on their own. Shame, but it's all over now. Who can ever replace them? Take Care Eh?

  • I would like to take this time to thank the Universe for all the random and magical set of events that has led and also given me the ability to hear and experience this...........

  • @horseshoerhays1 - Life is not a set of random events. God is the great 'I Am", and has set everything in motion at creqation with a plan, allows and has a reason for every event in everyone's life- including yours. He loves you, and has sent His Son into time and space to die for your sins so that you might gain eternal life. "No greater love has a man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."

  • @MrTelejohn Dying is easy. Anyone can die. It's *living* that is hard. All this talk of gods and death... a Universe of wonder all around us, and all some people can think up to do with their time is reject it.

But: "There are more things in heaven and earth... than are dreamt of in your philosophy." I'll take a random Universe that churns out Bowies and Gilmours (and me's and you's) over grim denial any day.

You want holy? Hit 'Play' again. *This* is holy. This is holy. This is...

  • @horseshoerhays1 Amen

  • you are so right

  • Class.. if this doesn't get to you.. you're probably dead!!

  • thx Dave...

  • EPIC

  • Awesome....

  • Wow What a mix , Brilliant !

  • amazing

  • Love this song!

  • Just Keep Playing It David, Cos We Will Always Want To listen.

  • @Mr230964 Yes!

  • Bowie is so old.

  • I am not the greatest fan of Bowie but he nailed this track, his voice suited this classic Floyd track to perfection. This will be mp3'd and on my player within the next 15 mins!

  • you wont need to show a couple of drunk people dancing every 5 seconds when there are bowie and gilmour at the other end

  • I think this is a great version of a classic. Then I wouldn't like for mr Bowie to become a permanent member of Pink Floyd or so. It was different, interesting, too good to lose, though not good enough to keep. That said I mr Waters may be more legendary than a perfect match for this song too. Not sure who would do the Waters part most justice, actually...

  • I fucking hate hip hop, house, and everything but classic rock and blues. you can thumbs up if your the same way.

  • Terrific performance!!!

  • Both Ds are awesome but DGs fingerwork - wow - how does anyone listen to this sitting down?

  • @Yentonian Drugs. Lots and lots of drugs.

  • WOW!

  • Delirium!!! Oh my God!!!

  • The man, and the guitar.....MAGIC!

  • 146 negative votes.How is this possible????

  • @nLiOkWoEs They were still using a mechanical mouse and the rubber ball was dirty...

  • THIS IS MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i do not say anything about his strat sound, its amaizing, but it would be 10 times better if he would use a gibson, it has a fuller tone and sounds way better with this type of music

  • @adologin no way.

  • @adologin ??????? WHAT ?????

  • just make way for the motherfuckin 2nd solo of this song

  • 2 Davids, double the pleasure :D

  • @TheJ731 you bet man, no worries.

  • greatest solo ever.

  • @dullath I feel ya man, easy there. Im just a teenage kid learnin to love this old music at last, I just feel like if say Ozzy Osborne sang light my fire or Freddie Mercury was touring with ccr it just wouldn't have felt right. No Disrespect here at all but I feel that it's just sort of completly random. Thats all I meant, no disrespect and your right man.

  • @Doors067 teen here as well but I agree with dullath on this. Gilmour asked Bowie to come and do this song and he even asked him to change it up. I honestly listen to this version more than the original because of the change in rogers parts, I think Bowie makes it sound very intense which I really like. We all have opinions though.

  • I need to see my idol live playing with the black strat or my life won't have sense

  • Remember that night

  • I LOVE David Bowie and I LOVE Pink Floyd, but I feel they need to be seperate...just my opionion though...

  • @Doors067 and usually they are. can't they just have some fun together? for one bloody song????? omgosh!!! so many people with nasty comments - and yours isn't nasty, so not you- you ought to try to not be so negative.

  • tops....i was there

  • R.I.P. Richard Wright

  • there's someone having fun!!! check at 6:59.. that guy is hilarious!!!

  • texaschrisc go listen to justin beiber more your style

  • I never seen a group of people look so bored and sober while listening to Pink Floyd before. What a waste of an amazing performance

  • @texaschrisc YOU BLIND OR WHAT ?

  • EXCELENTE MATERIAL, MÁGICO, LEGENDARIO Y SOBRE TODO PROGRESIVO

  • ive played with an orchestra in the albert hall. its nice to know you have shared a stage with legends even if it was only a county orchestra

  • This is AMAZING...what a synthesis of GENIUS....thank you...I ADORE this song and it is very dear to me and my history

  • How could rolling stone possible rate David Gilmour 82 out of the top 100 guitarists. They are obviously numb and not comfortably.

  • @martykate Rolling Stone has its head up its rectum sir

  • @FSXMAO That's ma'am, or captivating princess

  • @martykate oops! my apologies ma'am/captivating princess

  • who cares about the harmony?

I had levitated out of my seat by the end, and then I noticed the entire audience had levitated out of their seats.

    Magic.

  • yeah- the second verse you can clearly hear the harmony, but i believe the recording to be accurate-the listening experience is subjective and i totally respect your view, peace

  • @SuperKinevil Yeah I think your right about it being correct but I just love how it sounds! I definitely respect your view as well :D

  • it doesnt work-i can hear what bowie tried to do but its a minor harmony -it needs the lower minor voice to work...cant believe bowie didnt suss it before...i fuckin luv gilmour, fuckin luv bowie , fuckin luv this song.but this version aint right.....fuck it should be the best ever......shoulda done it in the late 70's.....peace

  • @SuperKinevil Well its possible that the recording didnt do it full justice because on some headphones you can clearly hear the low harmony sung by Richard Wright. Either way I love it!

  • Okay, I love both Bowie and Gilmour, but NOT the two of them together on stage. Bowie shouldn't sing this. He did quite nice version of "See Emily Play" though.

  • ღრმად გენიალურია !!!

  • Sorry David Bowie but you sort of ruined the vocals. It's supposed to be low not high. But I still love you Bowie

  • @7038675309 Lol I believe Gilmour asked Bowie to change it so he didn't ruin anything. I love this version soo much!

  • 7:08 that guy isn't enjoying the show or anything lol

  • Love Bowies vocals on this song.

  • Haters gonna hate 6:50

  • @AndrewMonkey8 Mi dad Nigel.

  • Bowie is otherworldly - this is a great combo. The song still gives me chills and always will. Gillmour on guitar is a gift to us all.

  • @favepic I Agree , Gilmour is a Gift , Hes Amazing ...

  • awsome man bowie and gilmour fuk does it get any better !!!!!

  • David voice looks like Ozzy ousborne voice o.O ?

  • that guitar is beauty

  • FAT BOWIE!

  • omg the goosebumps! i think i would actually have died if i had seen this live, i wouldn't be able to handle such emotion and..well...pure awesomeness!!!

  • Maaan. Bowie still sounds as amazing in this as he always has. This is such a good combination. <3

  • This is fantastic - I wish I'd seen all of Pink Floyd live. I saw The Granmarstonberries play this a few weeks ago (Steve Rothery from Marillion with original bass player Diz Minnitt) - there's a version on youtube , can't match Mr Gilmour , but top marks for trying!

  • thank you so much for uploading this!

  • WTF................that was insane

  • 3:43 You are only coming through waves
