I am making this tomarrow. I have the roast I have all but the wine. But I can still make it? You are so very right about the rice. The peas well that is what I have and what I buy. This is great. Hope you do not mind I do not use the wine. Thank You and have a good day.
How much garlic do you put in the pot roast recipe - fresh or powdered. Heard you talk about it, but never saw you put it in.
Thanks to you, my wife is luvin' me even more - 'cause of the tater salad recipe. I have to make it at least once a week - it's just like my Momma used to make!
Haven't tried the bisuits yet, but that's coming.
Keep the videos coming - Momma would be proud of you!
Shit! Crap Shit! damnit Im starvin and Im trying to skip lunch but then of course I had to go and watch this just like I do everyday. Now I wanna go get food but the only damn thing around here is a Subway... Laawwwwdddd!!!
That Golden Mushroom soup was a great cooking ingredient in the States, as were Cream of Celery and some of their other weird flavors. I think you'd like home French cooking, especially regional, the Paris food isn't very good. I never put salt on red meat to start with; it seizes up. I cook the dry rice in a little oil until it starts to go transluscent, then add BOILING WATER, double the amt same as you, put the lid on, simmer, peek only ONCE, turn off the heat and let it finish. Uprated.
Pot roast looks killer! I like doing it sometimes in the pressure cooker. Forces all those flavors to like each other or else.
It tickles me that people make such a fuss about rice, and how "hard" it is to get it right. They even go out and blow money on "rice cookers." The "secret," like you say, is measure it exact and then leave it the Hell alone. Rocket science...
Got the Camellia shipment Monday, made red beans and rice today. I'll NEVER again eat store bought beans. Utterly amazing!!
It was my first order from Camellia beans, after JB's constant nagging that they're the best. He's NOT kidding. I bought Reds, Blacks, BlackEyes, Crowders, and Lentils, and I'd just cooked the first batch of Reds. They're utterly incredible. I've seriously never had beans as tender and as full of flavor, and it was in half the cooking time and with no pre-soaking. Since then, I've cooked up some Crowders and some lentils, and they're AS good. I'll never use store bought again.
@anmoose Thanks a lot, I stumbled on JB's channel '' what a cool dude '' and watched his red beans and rice dish, man it looked so good. I never cooked beans myself yet, just learning to cook really. I guess i'll have to order me some from the web site and make some JB's red beans and rice..... Thanks for the info buddy, have a good one.
Glad to help. I've been hanging with JB for a long time. He's a great guy and a lot of fun. Just don't tell him or he'll get a swelled head. LOL
I'm an experienced cook, and I've learned a lot from him, especially about Cajun cooking. He even reminds me sometimes of tips I knew years ago and forgot about. If you want to learn, this is a good place to do it. Hang on and enjoy the ride.
@anmoose Uh Huh, JB or ANYONE from Cajun land knows what good & what sucks. Them blackeyes & crowders are great with PLENTY of smoked bacon. And of course a heapin cup of Holy trinity too (Means with garlic) Beans & peas are very good for you also
Ha! Yeah, y'all know it, but you keep the good stuff secret. Can't get Camellias at Publix, or Krogers, or Winn Dixie. Nope. Us outsiders never even know they exist. Took me 67 damn years to find out what a real bean tastes like, and I had to sneak into Cajun land and mail order 'em. LOL
Made another batch of Crowders today, w/ bacon, Holy Trinity, a good dusting of Slap Ya Mama, cooked per the bag. Same reaction. I've NEVER had Crowders that tasted this good. Ever! BOY!
Do you remember when you said that beef fat is good for making fries? I saw a fish and chips video and they fried in beef fat.. they can buy blocks of it.. Have you ever heard of this? The blocks for sale that is.. Other than that... videos Rocks as usual BOY!!!
@CookinWithSurfinSapo Its called Beef Tallow, You can buy it from food service suppliers. Once I trimmed a brisket of most of the fat, Ground up the meat & made brisket burgers then rendered the fat for french fries.
@CookinWithSurfinSapo we call it dripping over here! check wikipedia for details, apparently its different to tallow. fish and chips does taste much better fried in dripping, not a lot of places do it now though!
JB, beautiful! I love me some pot roast! You are spot on with the rice as well. I do it a same, but different way. 1 part rice 2 parts water, just like you, salt too. Bring pot to the boil, stir in the rice, bring back to a boil. Place foil on top of the pot, place lid on top of foil, place in a 350 degree oven for 20 min. Take out, uncover after 5 minutes. Perfect rice every time :) I hope I said that right, as I am tired tonight lol :)
Yum boy! I've been watching you for over a year and a half now!!! Over a 1000 videos, going strong! Keep it up!!! Greetings from Southern California!!
@PontVedra Ms. Eula Savois's products are top notch. Only thing better is make your own Smoked sausage from scratch. Can't do it on WSM , Gotta have a low temp smoker. I have Polish buddy who is a smoked sausage master. PM me for a link & details
gonna try this soon, weather's cold, this'll warm my sons up.

Is that au jus gravy at the end of the sideshow? If not, how did you make the gravy. Can you show the food being eaten by other people soon?
CookinWithSurfinSapo 7 months ago
@CookinWithSurfinSapo The 2 cans of soup & 2 cups of stock made the gravy. Other family members don't like to be on camera much.
