@MrItaliano 1900- it was just my opinion, I really stopped watching racing late in the 80's early 90's so my comment was based on what I saw from the races I had mentioned, and as I said only my opinion. Yes Varenne was an incredible trotter, probably the best ever, but up until I stopped watching those races were the most impressive to me. Ive watched Varennes races on youtube and must say he was amazing, just to clear things up.

@manuraiders let's underline MAYBE , 'cos even Ourasi is behind the best ever Varenne by miles same saying behind the greatest trotter from another planet , you can imagine Ideal who achieved not even 30 % of Varenne's dominance and in a much less significant way ....!!
You look quite clueless about race horses , 'cos the International trot was no Breeder's , Amerique or GP Agnano , it was only a second level race won mostly by average horses , just a lesser race that in fact was cancelled !
no dought was the greatest trotter at that time but sanpail is the new king of trotters and is getting better all the time it sure would of been something if varenne raced today against sanpail because both are world champs with tremendous hearts and also know how to win like no other trotters
