yea i love these machines! I work at a bowling alley with the A-2's. Nice solid machines. Worked here 5 years now, and i still love fixing pin jams/ deck jams haha. :)
I love these machines. We have the 80-90's I believe? The newest one out there. Never really seem to break down if they do its just a simple thing like a pileup or a jammed ball.
ok, cool, cos i heard the usual clicking sound as pins were being put into the turret, and then the "shunk" sound as they were dropped into the table setter thingee, lol , it was just a bit slow for an A2 i thought .. anyways man, cool, Im not an expert on pinsetters or anything, but I've bowled on Brunswick my whole life, those AMF machines look more complex - 82-30s and 70s, the "reach-that-drops-the pins" thing, LOL :)
edm, what you had is called a 180 or waiting for pins. Sometime when the machine cycles after a strike ball, the pins will go off of the pin elevator wheel, which is what takes the pins back up to the conveyor. The Bowling Ball Wheel turns the other way as not to hit the pins!
Hey I got an A2 Q: This one center I was at, I got 2 strikes in a row, but then the sweep "locked up" for about 10 seconds in the rearward position, pin shortage? cos my game was a 254, but it kept on doing that, was annoying, cos i was like, co'm on, com on!!! hurry the f__k up!
Pins can only reload so fast...In my center (AMF 82-70 machines) that's the way it is...two strikes back to back, it takes between 5 and 10 seconds to drop a fresh set. I'd say it's normal.
yea the rake will stay back until the turret is full and pins are dropped into the pin chutes. Strikes put alot of pins on the cushion and the wheel just cant pick them up in time. It should only stay back for a few seconds, unless a pin has stopped at the pin gate or something, in which you turn to the trusty bell to get the mechanics attention ;) well thats what we have at my local centre
The center here used to have Brunswick A's They didnt have 90 degree overtravel or shotguns. .amazingly there was very little deadwood at all, maybe had good kickbacks or something. i tend to think the machines work better without shotguns, but that's just me.
We have shotguns on all of our machines..but there are a couple of the machines that like to be stupid and still have a delay before they tigger, leaving deadwood some of the time..Oh well..thats why we have little slaves working in the back to recover it..=]
If that is the case, You need to adjust the turn buckle so that the trip arm is closer to the shotgun latch. Not right up against it in first ball though, because it gets closer on second ball. And the delay is because of the time delay module in the electrical box.

sounds like the m/c was short of a few pins.
not sure about A2's but the amf 82-30 you could have over 21 pins 82-70 21 pins
per m/c to keep things running quick as you could..

Its an A..I work with them.
sycamorelanes 4 years ago
Just out of curiosity, do your A's have shotguns or 90-degree overtravel?
Sharkie626 4 years ago
shotguns.
sycamorelanes 4 years ago
They have shotguns but are triggered not by the ball impacting the pit chusion, but by bowl-tronic electronic triggering. They are A modified.

Is this sycamorelanes in Oklahoma? If so I used to work for K.C. bowling supply and have refinished your bowling lanes back in the middle 80's.
