There is a VZ R8 manual with only head and cam, on street tyres and eaton tru-track differential running 11.4 sec down the 1/4 running a mild cam.

What people dont know is, that the HSV is actually quicker off the line but the typhoon will beat after 100km.

@8gunnerz i owned a HX ute with 308 (rebuilt extractors balanced cams pistons etc) previously before i bought my BAII xr6 turbo. It was rubbish, spent more time off the road than on it. But its not like you can compare it to a Barra engine, it's like mike tyson fighting an infant.

@8gunnerz - Not just Top Gear mate, try reading most car magazines out there. Alot of them state the the FG XR6 Is the most affordable Sports Sedan in the Southern Hemisphere. Its Kilowatt to Dollar ratio is the best currently avaliable. And dont forget its practicality. But yeah i agree with you about top gear major fail. I own an XR6 Turbo mate, ive spent $215 on It and already gone from 240Kws - 280Kws. Nowhere near a 10 sec car. But still good for cash!.. :) Maybe 11-12 Seconds @ $3000 :)

fords aren't bad cars, im a big fan, but had i the chance id go subaru or nissan, i reallyu dislike chevy, they use really old tech, not sure if the motors they use over there are any better than the ones in the states or not tho. and ford is lazy, they have potential and waste it. All sti's are great just make sure you switch the clutch and rebuild the motor IMO because they're like evos and tend to get abused from racing, good luck on the new car man
