  • I love this song but it needs to be sang at the pace it is supposed to be, otherwise it doesn't get the intensity level up like it is supposed to be.

  • I love the part at 3:56

  • about to sing this in the chester county district chorus auditions, yay

  • AMAZING :) ALLELUIA!

  • sounds great, but smile. alleluia..

  • Don't breath between Alleluia's

  • Our choir is singing this tomorrow after only 4 rehearsals :O It helps tremendously to hear how it all fits together. Beautiful!

  • mostly interested in the altos (who are almost always unnoticed aurally) maintaining their tones to keep the sopranos and tenor members afloat.

the basses came through in providing the RUDDER assistance that is foundational.

    great job.

    Indiana too?

    lol

  • Very fine job. There were 3 or 4 spots that were'nt quite right in terms of energy, phrasing or tone, but most of it was perfect and very pleasing.

  • Oh sopranos...

  • Im singing this tonight, beautiful piece, we mess up in one spot, but I love the contrast in this choirs voices.

  • Fantastic job. This really brought back memories! We sang this in high school in the early 80s.

  • Gorgeous tone, but the "LAY"s are driving me nuts.

  • @ifinditamazing Totally agree.

  • Love this song, also sang it in my high school choir 30 years ago. u guys did a great job!

  • this is my favourite Alleluia, we sang it in my quire also, love it :))))

  • Search for the performance by NTU of this piece. Definitely the definitive version.

  • ALELUIA!

  • 2:14 - 2:34 my FAVORITE part of the song! whenever i hear it i just zone out...

  • w3.youtube.com/watch?v=VyQ05h_Iyo8---

that link is nicccccccerrrrrr theres spirit.. just try to listen

  • This was just wonderful. The control in the voices made this the best Thompson Alleluia on youtube. Amen

  • Amazing........

  • The straight tone... it burns!!!!111oneelventyone

  • This is good. But for the right way to sing it, search:

    Alleluia-Philippine Madrigal Singers

  • It's unfortunate that only half the choir was seen throughout the video. I think that's a disservice to this hard-working choir. Perhaps the video was made by a parent or friend of one of the singers that we can see.

  • Ouvir esse tipo de música só nos trás inspiração e com toda certeza no aproxima de Deus, o todo poderoso!

  • Love this song... sang once couldnt get enough of it

  • Great

  • Bravi! Fatto molto bene!

VERY nice performance of this lovely, moving prayerful anthem. Thank you!

  • Bravo!

  • i had to sing part of this song for my All County Chours audition.

  • I'm so happy to know that the college this choir comes from is only 20 minutes north from where I live. =) I can totally dream about being a part of this choir.

  • For such young voices, a very mature rendition. A bit fast, though. It sounded rushed, when it should actually be savored word by word. Thompson gave each Alleluia its own statement. That said, I enjoyed it very much for its balance and tonal clarity. Excellent soprano work. Tenors were accurate, and I have no doubt the basses were fine though I cannot hear them well with my speakers. This choir and its director should be quite proud. I know Thompson would be!

  • Very fine job. I felt that there could have been a little more phrasing through dynamics. Especially retreating from from the final syllable of Alleluia. Also the middle minor section should have a distinctly different sound. But very nice sound overall and good blending. Occasionally sopranos were a little too loud.

  • I really enjoyed this. This was my all time favourite piece that my high school choir sang. I was shocked to discover that I could still remember every note of the alto part, even though I learned it in the early 70's.

  • @Pcfreshman11, The tenor part is hard, and very high but in the end it actually sounds very good :P, I'm pretty sure the people who give 'crap' to tenors actually appreciate them. :P, I'm a tenor as well xD and I'm singing this song in choir :P, I love this song so much xD and

@wierdwolf2, they had a good tenor part, especially in the begginingish, you hear the tenor part xd

  • I log in just to rate this video. FIVE STARS!

great job, we sung it with the conservatorio chorus once. Not easy

  • I am a freshman and we are singing this song in our choir. I love it! It's so hard and so pretty. But one thing that bugs me about this version was the pronunciation. People tend to say AH LAY LOO YUH, as our choir knows =D But you are supposed to say AH LEH LOO YAH. I had to work so hard ro get rid of that habit.

  • we just sang this song for our winter concert. [; yu guys did a good job. [:

  • this would be great if they had a sronger tenor part.. but besides that, it's wondrful

  • Do you know how hard it is to sing the tenor part of this song, it is incredibly high for a man to sing, lay of the tenors, everyone gives tenors crap when we have the hardest part every single time!

  • @pcfreshman11 i do know i sang this song this year i'm a tenor

  • I sang this song a few years ago so I can try out for my OMCEA All County Chorus and I sang tenor.

  • Work on separating your alleluia's, there's comma's for a reason. Besides that, very good.

  • 2:36 - 3:00 was always my favorite part to sing.

  • Very, very nice. My semi-pro choral group sings this piece often and I know it's difficulties. Superb job by these young people.

  • Such a beautiful version of this song and the kids look so ernest and respectful.

  • buena afinación. Le falta seguridad a los tenores... en especial en la parte 3:46 y ahi es donde se demuestra que son tenores tenores tenores

  • the intro is piano... good group affination, but you really need to fix some important details bout this beautiful thompson's piece.. ligatos, p, ppp's, f's, etc. You have to follow them as written as they are... This modals are really important at the time you sing this piece, they cannot be ignored just like that, cause they give this characteristical beauty to this kind of works.. Succesfull... Kisses...

  • Agree with your comments .... I sang this many times in the past, in the Boston area, where I grew up, and one time had the privilige of singing it with a choir under the direction of Dr. Thompson himself. . ... Very nice job done, in this vid, by a sweet, young group, and some of the voices are ppretty good! ... but, it's not as musical as it could be. And, the group Dr. T conducted WAS a group of HS kids. He was very pleased ... our music director had prepared us v. well.

  • hermoso

  • very beautiful

  • So very lovely. Thank you. I especially loved the colors at 4:05.

  • beautiful

  • Well done! Tough to stay on pitch with this piece, and of course Thompson loves to have the basses end on a low D--brutal!

  • This is beautiful! My choir is doing an SSAA version of this song. Your version was helpful :)

  • Absolutely wonderful rendering of an absoultely wonderful composition. I sang it many years ago in high school and again several years ago in my church choir. Somehow, it was easier for my high school choir to learn. I guess those daily rehearsals would be the reason. Thanks for posting this.

  • A fine performance. Ignore the nitpickers who can't resist slinging inconsequential criticism.

  • Outstanding.

  • alleluia!

  • Nice sounding... A bit on the bright side though. But Good job...

  • exelente

  • the beginning should have been 'ppp' and then built up as the song went on, but overall it was a great performance =]

  • Nice job guys....muito bom....love it. Amei

  • Wonderful!

  • This is one of my absolute favorites. I sang it in high school and again in college (2nd Bass) and always loved it. This is also a lovely performance which brings back great memories!

  • WOW, great job guys. I try to sing my part along(2nd tenor) and I just cant do it without tearing up. My choir performed this 1985 winter concert Kenai High School, Alaska
