@cretan982 i understand the statement and history quite well.. the British Empire went through 2 major wars to keep a hold over the land so that it would be a buffer land between India (Its best foot hold in south asia) and Russia (the possible opposing force).. the 3rd war doesnt really count because it was after ww1 or 2 i forget and the UK didnt have enough resources to deal with it or fight it.. The USSR fought taliban trained by the CIA as well as fueled with weapons.

This is different because 1) It is an internation force led by NATO, there is billions invested into the aid and reconstruction of the country instead of into funding an enemy insurgency,2) they are trying to win over the people and are doing so very successfully in alot of regions. First N-Korea attacked to S-Korea and was very successful, but then Usa military came to stop this and they almost defeated the N-Koreans.
Thought then the Chinese army came to the war to defend their northern "little brother". The reason was was probably that the Allied forces were already on their border. Finally the war stopped to a cease-fire, Nobody really one the war.
It was a normal "Proxy war" between USSR and Usa.
