I use my 111 for garden tractor pulls. Weight bracket on the front(usually put about a 40lb stone on it). Custom hitch on the back with a clevis. One factory style weight in back, wheel weights, tractor tread tires full of water.
why dont you sell that 111 and buy a 110/112 or 200 series square fender. that 111 is NOT going to hold up pulling that kind of weight. you can get a square fender 112 cheap. its much heavier and has a cast iron transaxle which will hold up pulling that tank fully loaded. it has a variable speed drive. the more you let of the pedal the faster you go. simple. i can almost guarantee the 111 wont last long
Well, it's been more than a year of pulling since I put the video up. 111 is still going strong, and I even used it this morning. I choose to use this tractor, even though I own multiple JD 110/120/318 series tractors. I'm retiring it soon as a gift to my brother--he's got an easy lawn job for it. I'm replacing it with another big sears tractor just for pulling the tank. Eventually I'll put videos of all my JDs together in action.
This video has been up since 1/08, and here we are in 11/09. Guess what? It is STILL running and still pulling that tank through the sand. Plenty of "experts" out there telling me "it won't last"--you're all wrong.
dude i wasnt talking to you i was talking to ad356 he said " you just let out on the pedal to make it go faster because hes a dumbass. u have a nice tractor and it should last for anothe 10+ years! no hard feelings
No, you're right. I'm just a little sensitive when it comes to my tractors ;) I appreciate your kind words, and I see that you have some cool videos too. Thanks.
I have a heavy sears tractor that will pull harder, but may not work out because of the attachment point design. On the 111 the hitch point comes out a little more off the back than the hitch point on the sears. I may have to modify the sears before using it for this job. The JD keeps running though, and so I'm just not inspired to mess with the arrangement yet. The sears tractor is on one of my other videos. Thanks again ;)
Out of the blue technoviking! I made a bet with my buddy if he learns the viking dance and performs it at our first sping cookout I'll buy him a case of whatever he wants.
Those 111s can pull way more than 1 ton
