you have to realize, to sing over these tracks, you had to have chops. the energy the funk brothers were putting out, you had to be able to matcht it, and that was a feat in itself. Joan Osborne did some amazing tracks with the Funks, but you can see she really had to work.
I think your assessment is third rate. Give me a break, these girls could sing. Maybe that is why they sold more records than most groups, men or women, than most artist could only dream of.
Hi sandfordway, thanks a lot for uploading this instrumental version. You did a great job.
What a dynamic and powerful sound written by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Edward Holland, played by Motowns best musicians: James Jamerson, Earl van Dyke, Robert White, Joe Messina, Jack Ashcroft and all the other Funk Brothers.
Today, you cant find something brilliant like this!
Awesome track! Mary & Flo make singing in unison so incredible! I like how on this track, they actually start the hook in harmony and finish in unison, even at the end. Thanks for sharing this!
Hmm.. am I the only one who's thinking Mary was bloody good looking? She was on that BBC documentary recently and um...she still doesn't look too bad - Not that I'm into having sex with grandmothers.
Having said that, if she was my granny I'd definately go there.
Ok I'm leaving.
But yes, Sandfordway - you've put up some brilliant instrumentals here, thanks so much man :)
Any picture or film from the 60's of the supremes that I've seen, it always strikes me that Mary is best looking, Diana always had a kind of emaciated spindly look but I guess thats what Berry was into
Yeah - D' was scarey looking I can still hardly look directly at her... I NEVER understood why some other good looking chick wasn't put into her place...ah the magical power of the feminine anatomy; her relation with Berry paid off. The others always looked so much nicer than D who looked desperate for our adulation - the others had confidence and genuine smiles..D always looked fake, and like she was trying to hide her disdain for the oethr two.. I always saw through that.
Get a grip. Tell me how many photos Dross was edited out of. The fact that she contributed next to nothing to this track does not warrant every picture having her mug on it.
You worship her if you want to, I don't.
And if you think you are mighty enough to preach to me about jealousy and pettiness, why don't you write to the lady in question.
Someone here is not a Diana Ross fan ... It's so obvious by the editing ... Diana was cut out of some of the photos.
I'm a bit surprised especially after today.
Some people paved the way for the glorious event that was possible today. We all need to open our eyes. We need to let go of jealousy and pettiness. Move on.
This is a new world and I'm so happy to a part of it.
The world already knows the highs that Diana's voice took The Supremes to! So it's actually refreshing to hear the supporting acts for a change! Great posting.
Thanks sandfordway for this instrumental version. You simply have the best Supremes instrumentals without a doubt. This is my favourite Supremes record and the instrumental bedding track is superb!
I've heard Nella Dodds version, even heard one yesterday by Barbara Mason and they cannot compare to the mastery of the Supremes combined with the Funk Brothers. The music is sharper, the vocals powerful, lively and uplifting. Whew! I guess I never knew how truly special Motown was until now after all these years.
Diana is singing in that background with Mary and Flo, which is why those sounds are so rich!

I was enjoying this video and then started to notice that many of the people featured are long gone. Florence, the Funks......
Thank goodness, they left behnd a historical legacy and thank you Sandfordway for bringing good music to the attention of the masses here at Youtube.
