Have you tried the little thought experiment I suggested? I will assume not for now. This will take more than one comment so I will try to give you the order to read them in.
Those who do calculus refer to a small motion as "dX". I will use that term but you don't need calculus to follow this argument. I will take it step by step.
If you think of walking on a hill, you will get the idea. Walking along the face of the hill you get no higher. Walking up and down the hill changes height. Only the component parallel to the slope changes height.
"Work" = transfer of mechanical energy.
Place one pole at (0,0,0) and the other at some other place. Move this second pole by dX. Notice that the force is only along a line between the poles and that work only happens for a change in distance. See #3
Move the 2nd pole over any closed path so that you come back to where you started. Total up all the dWork for all the dX. Notice that no matter the path, the total must always be zero.
We now have a proof that no machine with just two poles can ever produce energy. Did you follow?
Now place two stationary poles. Notice that we now have a total Work that you can say is Work1+Work2. We already know how to deal with each work and how to add. See #3
This idea can be extended to any number of stationary poles. Now think about what happens when we add a second moving pole. Things are a little more complex. We need to compute a lot of Work values. However, we can save a lot of time by noting that they are zero so we just add up many zeros to get a total of zero.
The two moving poles means that you need to compute a Work for the change in distance between the two moving poles. These total to zero too. See it?
I just get really tired of people saying the v-gate magnetic motor is some type of scam because perpetual motion would violate the second law of thermodynamics. The v-gate magnetic motor is not perpetual motion, you have to keep in mind that if you started it and it ran for 50,000 years before stopping it is not be perpetual motion. It's all about relativity and perspective. When you only live for 100 years 100 years worth of operation appears like perpetual motion, relative to your perspective

The proof that it can't work can be done without any seriously advanced math. You just need the ability to understand some simple logic and you can get there. Here's a hint:
Imagine one magnetic pole sitting at a location we can call (0,0,0) place a second pole at some distance. Move that second pole then move it back.

In any case, the logical explanation I gave should show you why it can never really work. Basically this person has shown you a rabbit being pulled out of a hat. It woud be more convincing if the supports were made of plexiglass instead of something opaque. There are odd little speed ups and slowdowns at different sections of the video.
I think some calculus should be mandatory in primary education. It might be more clear why these things cannot work then.

Calculus is not really needed to understand why these won't work but it gets you there lot faster. You can also use the "method of exhaustion" sort of attack. Assume the time increment is some value and then see if making it smaller can lead to a smaller or larger answer.

Assuming that all the forces between them vary continuously with distance and there is no hysteresis in the force that is direction dependent, integrating (or more simply, just following) the kinetic and potential energy around one cycle of the machine kind of by definition HAS to yield a maximum of zero net energy. You don't need the math to conceptually prove it.

So ultimately is you had a piece of metal and magnetized it yourself.Then you placed that magnet in such a machine as a drive motor and hooked it up to an alternator/battery. When the magnet was depleted you would find you had not gathered enough energy in the battery to fully magnetize the battery again. You can extract cheap work from magnets, but that work causes the internal magnetic particles to lose alignment slowly, and the strength of the magnet will eventually drop. It's still very useful, but not perpetual.

There has been exhaustive work on over unity machines by thousands and for hundreds of years and none of them work. This is why you don't see any today. It's not big oil or the government that stops these devices from working its the laws of thermodynamics. The fact is no matter what the condition is perpetual motion is statically implausible. For any device to overcome the outside forces of its environment by means of the same force it is converting from pe to ke would violate the conservation of mass law. The conservation of mass in both terms of mass and energy relate and are forever interlocked in transition.

A spring only works if it wound, which requires more energy then it will give off because of friction. magnets can not impart a positive force on an object they will always exert equal parts of pull and push nothing more. The shaft of the central rotor is inserted in small pancake DC motor connected to AAA battery in the post. The downfall of every "perpetual motion machine" is friction and this one isn't frictionless.
If you can understand how magnets attract and repel each other,then you can think thats this might be possible. The fundamental element missing in the video; the motor is stopped. If it were a functioning motor it should run until friction slows it down to a stop or it turns continually.

The "plants" that pumped up the wave guide would be in places like Niagara where power is cheap. The receivers would be in the places where the power was needed. The earth is a fairly good conductor. The air in general is not a conductor but as you get towards the vacuum of space it gets easier to ionize. Tesla intended to pump RF energy into the upper layer with his transmitters. This would form a second conductive layer above the earth. See more

Once RF energy was pumping into this resonator, it would circle the earth. ie: it would be trapped in a path that went around the earth and not leave into space. This is mere speculation on Tesla's part. He did not actually build anything like this. At that time, little was known about cosmic radiation etc. Notice that most of the page is characterizing Tesla's words and is not a quote from him. He can be forgiven for getting this wrong during his life time because he was working with the knowledge of the day.

Calculus is not really needed to understand why these won't work but it gets you there lot faster. You can also use the "method of exhaustion" sort of attack. Assume the time increment is some value and then see if making it smaller can lead to a smaller or larger answer.

You can extract cheap work from magnets, but that work causes the internal magnetic particles to lose alignment slowly, and the strength of the magnet will eventually drop. It's still very useful, but not perpetual.

The fact is no matter what the condition is perpetual motion is statically implausible. For any device to overcome the outside forces of its environment by means of the same force it is converting from pe to ke would violate the conservation of mass law. Things like the V-gate are classic cases of people not understanding what they are seeing. If you really care about the future learn some physics and learn how to do science. The fundamental element missing in the video; the motor is stopped. If it were a functioning motor it should run until friction slows it down to a stop or it turns continually.

@knowledgemonge: I'm clever enough to see the possibility of how this works. The two magnets for one on top and the other on the bottom help to keep the spinning to continue. It is a very clever system in place. I don't know if you know this, but free energy generators has been around for at least 120 years, it is a very suppress technology.
So instead of having this absurd "it's fake" mentality, see into how it's work.

The force between two magnetic poles is always along the line between poles.
Work = Force (dot) Distance.
The (dot) style of multiply means you take the parallel components. There is a step that requires you to do a dY/dX. Give it a try and see how you get on.

@minxel16 The thing you pointed me to: (1) I had read previously and (2) does not support your claim. He is talking about receiving energy from one of his transmitters not from some environmental source. The "radiant energy" is the energy his transmitters radiate.
Look for words like "By installing proper plants". These are references to his intended array of stations that would have pumped up the wave guide formed between the earth and a high layer. (more)

@knowledgemonger (more) This idea was one that Tesla spent a lot of time on. We know today that it would not have worked but the best science of his day suggested it would have. The "plants" that pumped up the wave guide would be in places like Niagara where power is cheap. The receivers would be in the places where the power was needed. One proposed place being the flying machines he sees powered from it.

@minxel16 No, you really don't understand what he was doing. It takes a little knowledge of the science of these things to grasp it. I will explain:
The earth is a fairly good conductor. The air in general is not a conductor but as you get towards the vacuum of space it gets easier to ionize. Tesla intended to pump RF energy into the upper layer with his transmitters. This would form a second conductive layer above the earth. See more

Once RF energy was pumping into this resonator, it would circle the earth. ie: it would be trapped in a path that went around the earth and not leave into space. This would then allow the energy to be tapped off where needed. It was the best science of the day but today, we know it would not have worked.

@knowledgemonger but read my link it talks about cosmic rays from the sunn and how if these are absorbed through his receiver and then pumped out again through the potential difference between the earth and ionisation in the air(which he states himself) a large voltage is created and therefore a flow of current since for energy to be received the apparatus must be in a lower energy state. Similar to exothermic/endothermic reactions when the reaction alters balances the variables you change

@minxel16 I will assume that the quote is accurate although it seems uncharacteristic for Tesla.
This is mere speculation on Tesla's part. He did not actually build anything like this. At that time, little was known about cosmic radiation etc. Notice that most of the page is characterizing Tesla's words and is not a quote from him. He can be forgiven for getting this wrong during his life time because he was working with the knowledge of the day.

@Jamieduk999 You see all the parts. All you need to do is figure out for yourself the hidden power source you want to use to make it go. I have thought of a total of 4 methods. Some wouldn't have the problem of slowing down slightly over time as this one appears to. It is a very well done magic trick but that doesn't mean that you couldn't do better.
