  • hughes rode oasis dream and he said cc wqas the best horse he ridden, if he was right at goodwood cc would of shit up frankel(the freak he is),not taking anything away from the big orse

  • bloodsucker is wrong, poor supporting cast group one winner tho

  • poor bunch

  • CC should take goldikova in the queen anne stakes2011 that mile was no problem to CC, cant say the same for goldikova who struggled over the line last year at same distance in the queen anne . CC stayed like a true champ in that .

  • i think canford cliffs could get 10f

  • great horse

  • Paco Boy had 4 cracks at Goldikova in his career. 3 in 2010 alone, and although close in the Queen Anne and the Foret, he could never get the job done. Even Dick Turpin has had one crack at Goldikova himself. In the Foret along with Paco Boy. Now that we know Goldikova is coming back in 2011 to go after her 4th Breeders Cup Mile. Surely Richard Hannon can find occasion to run Canford Cliffs against her at least once in 2011 somewhere? I think he'll fare best of the three against Goldikova. JMO.

  • @GBeret83 id say they will meet at ascot

  • You rarely get easier winners of a classic than this, especially over a mile. Superb.

  • Canford is the exceptional 3 year old of the season, followed closely by his very unlucky stablemate Dick Turpin.

Goldikova is an outstanding mare and is so hard to beat over a mile, but if anyone can get close t turning her over its Canford- what a turn of foot this boy has. It depends how clear Goldikova gets and Canford Cliffs would need perfect timing by Richard Hughes.

Regardless- a pair of outstanding milers.

PS if Dick Turpin meets this on softish ground, get on him ;)

  • @forsoup yes i agree but as you said dick turpin likes it soft and canford cliffs likes it good so they wont meet very often.

  • Not many like Canford Cliffs more than me m8, hes a great 3yo and the best of the milers, probably the classiest 3yo this year full stop. I agree that he is the one horse who could give Goldikova a race but he wouldnt beat her I dont think. Shes close to unbeatable over a mile, she has everything, cruising speed, acceleration, ability to sit anywhere in a race, heart, toughness and durability plus she goes on any ground, a true group 1 champion.

  • The Queen Ann was run a second fast than the St James Palace but times dont mean much over here, still no chance Canford could beat Goldikova in her prime, NO CHANCE

  • @ashleycolemobilefone hi we all have oure say in what we believe and quite rightly

you have said what you believe these are to very good horses but to be honest i am a canford cliffs fan and dont no much about the other horse but winning 10 group 1

speeks for itself but would be very intresting you cant take nothing away frome these two horses but if they did meet this year ,we will never no.

  • if you listen to richard hughes comment after canford cliffs winning the irish 2000 guinease he mentiond that in the english 2000 guinease he let the winner go proberbly meaning that he will beet the winner next time. you bet of corse he will it was a costly error but he is only human and we all make mystakes.

  • Not gonna happen. Because this will be Goldikova's last season racing. But I'd love to see how Canford Cliffs would fare in the same starting gate over 1 mile against Goldikova and Paco Boy. My gut says his turn of foot would give him a real shot at winning. Even against Goldy. Who's by far the world's best miler. JMO.

  • @GBeret83 as you no i am a canford cliffs fan,i got it wrong when i said that he would go to stud next year lukcily he,s not but i do think canford and paco boy will meet and i see that paco boy is rated 2lb better than canford cliffs what do you think.

  • @GBeret83 just pointing out what you said about goldikova not meeting i agree,to be honest i do not no anything about goldikova until i wached her win at ascot she is a flying machine so i can see where you are comming from ,it would be intresting and to be honest i agree that if they did meet would be very hard to pick the winner but i would still back canford cliffs.

  • Isn't it amazing if your Dick Turpin that you've won the 2010 Greenham Stakes. Ran 2nd in both the English and French 2000 Guineas. Ran 2nd in the St. James's Palace Stakes. And came back to absolutely destroy the same horse that beat him in the French 2000 Guineas in the Prix Jean-Prat, and you're not even considered the best 3yr.old in your stable. LOL. That's almost unbelievable. But you can't deny the greatness of Canford Cliffs either. I know it sure would be great to own both colts.

  • this horse impressed me as a two yeare old have backed him in every race he has run .make the most of this horse as you wont see him next year as they will send him of to stud.

  • in the 2000 guineas it was trial and error it was the first time canford cliffs had been

held up and the first time over a mile he has gone on to win sinse then and will

probably go unbeeten this season then retire to stud next year enjoy.

  • if richard hughes was a jump jockey ruby walsh would not have a job , in england or ireland

  • There are no certs in racing. He looks to have improved past his contemporaries but Makfi and Dick Turpin in particular both have him in the form book. He'll be favourite at Ascot and rightly so on that performance but you can't back him with any real confidence. Not yet anyway.

  • Thanks for posting.

Will win at Ascot - FACT.

  • @SIDESLAM

And he did just that, what a day and thanks to Mr Hannon and Richard Hughes for a special day.

  • He is going to make a huge impact as a stallion if he comes to Australia.

  • I didnt say which guineas either :p

  • Have to say I called it. IN the St Nicholas Abbey Racing post trophy page I said he'd win the Guineas. Have to laugh at all those who thought he wouldn't stay.
