  • Matt, Love your playing..Igor Butman comes to my mind. I'm new at tenor 2 years now 60 years old...late start. and not to savey about electronics.. I'm hoping you would list the equipment you use in your studio. Once again thank you for sharing your music. Dave

  • Fantastic playing and wonderful tone. Would love to hear you play Round Midnight and/or In A Sentimental Mood :)

  • Hello,

What do you use for recording? this sounds amazing! Great job also!

  • Great playing !

  • Matt - one can scour the internet and not be able to find a more melodic and soulful rendition of Autumn Leaves on the tenor. I can't stop listening to it (armed with my own tenor) - you truly play it beautifully. Ditto with This Masquerade. My favorite moments in Autumn Leaves come at 1:07, 1:34, 1:42, 1:52, and 2:33. Just brilliant.

  • what is the root of the song?

  • this is so good - you just can't beat the standards-especially played by a world class player

  • Love this song, and love your playing! :D

  • Very nice play

  • I LOVE that part at 2:16 where the piano kinda creeps back up. It's as if the sax and keys cross paths. This sounds really great.

  • Great job!

  • one sexy instument love it

  • As usual, very nice and brilliant Sound.....one of my favorite Songs...

  • Very good flowing with your notes. It is an invitation to Meditation. A lot of subtleties.

  • This is moooost beautiful... Soothing music. Hope you had a great christmas and please have a wonderful new year !! :)

  • Beautiful. I'm sure you've answered this before, but other than the NT2A and headphones, what's your recording setup? Microphone direct into a laptop? Which software? Amazing sound all around.

  • im so mad at the view count on these. just know that that us 840+ are your devoted listeners!

  • Hi I'd like you to post it as A minor too. I have a backtrack from a guitarist on youtube, clean backtrack, he's keen on using it and posting after, contact me if you want to do it, I'd be so pleased and I'm sure the guitarist will be too.

  • Hey, Matthew. Great playing, fantastic sound.

  • i love the sound of the sax good feeling to express good embochure also.

  • Great stuff Matthew, as always. So goos is your sound on tenor sax, so rich of subtones....I wish I had a fraction of your talent!

Season greetings from your (ex) T901, and from me of course!

  • Matthew - Great playing. The two tenor players I got to hear the most live were Dexter & Gato Barbieri. I know it probably sounds whacky, but on this cut you remind me of Gato. Not in tone, but in phrasing & lyricism. Very nicely done. Hope you'll be posting more in the New Year. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  • Pleased to see you back on YouTube Matthew and with a beautifully rendered jazz standard. I particularly like the camera angle as I might be able to figure out what notes you are playing :-), sadly I can't play be ear. I hope your fans don't have to wait quite so long for your next offering.

Merry Christmas to you and yours and thank you for bringing pleasure to those of us who like your playing.

  • great Matt, where have you been? nice to see you back on line

  • Billiant job. Good to see you back on You Tube. Are you improvising on chromatics/ chords I am trying to get my head around improvisation but not findng it that easy

  • Wow, nice job!

  • Just AWESOME

  • Your setup not to mention your playing to is amazing! I am GASing over that selmer.

  • You play so good!!

Could you tell me how and where to get the music accompaniment?

  • I have one word to say : PERFECT !!

  • Lovely!!

  • Hey Great Job as usual :) I was wondering what headphones you use for recording, because I need to pick up some for recording myself. Any Suggestions? Thanks and keep up the good work there!

  • @SaxInThaCity I use sennheiser hd280's they are very comfortable. You don't have to spend that much though, any closed back ones will do... look for a long lead though and good quality cable/jacks that don't give up after a few months. You should not really mix with headphones, just monitor, so as long so if you can hear the backing track OK then just spend the least you can :-)

  • @crazydaisydoo ..Beautiful rendition...I learned a lot from you..Thank you very much for all you videos

  • Glad to see you back. Your sound is ecliptic.
