This event is almost the smoking gun that we need. So many people were injured, in fact several villagers even died. Some thing was there. And it is undeniable that the Brazilian Air Force covered up whatever hurt the villagers. To this day skeptics can't write it off, because they themselves realize that the best explanation is that aliens were involved....

The big problem UFOlogy has is, it is too far away from oridnary science. Although many longer lasting sightings existed, not one UFOlogist ever came to the idea to grab scientific data, like spectrograms, magneto- and gravimetric records, etc. Without further data, one can believe all the reports, or not. However without proof, we can only speculate; particularly since human people tend to exagerate unusual experiences.

I've watched the whole episode and they did mainly a posteriori investigations (eye-witness reports, collection of claimed cases of radiation sickness, etc.) If one wanted to discover the reason for a particalur sithing he had to do i) in vivo analysis of EM-spectra, B-fields and gravitational interactions to prove a craft - the easier part. Then ii) he had to identify the operators. That's the harder part, while sitting like stunned bunnies in front of a unusual appearance can't help.
