  • you americans are so outdated! start embracing the future, go clean, go green.

  • why bush has to kill 1.2 million iraqis,

    just to steal their oil?

its exactly the same with bank robbery, and kill ppl in the bank

    1.2 million ??!!

can we label that as terrorism?

or just stay with the hypocrisy

  • Yes, the pop'n is high, around 6.5 billion people. But those of you who blame world population are missing the point.

We in the western world consume 30 times more resources, especially oil, than someone living in dire poverty in Africa.

It's the disproportionate consumption of the West that is the problem, not the few billion people in this world who use a fraction of what we use.

  • Burning oil wouldn't be so bad if the world had fewer people. Quit popping so many babies people! Sheesh!

  • Wise... in this day and age... people who made this clip, they know whats goin on. LEARN and ACT. time to wean from oil.

  • this is brilliant

  • It disturbes me greatly that whenever a discussion on a subject starts on YouTube some opponents use such foul language that I am really offended. It's not cool at all, it's just uncivilized and disrespectful. Period.

  • if you can't filter out the ingnorent, then perhaps you've not found the forum that suits you. the only thing people dislike more than a foul mouthed prick is a whiner. no one invited you under the pretext of a white washed, sanitized, church-like experience. if you are offended go elsewhere, don't expect the world to change for you. i know it's inconvienent, but there are articulate people here to talk to, just as there are imbiciles to ignore.

  • wish i could talk that fast

  • I told a friend of mine that I had been bike commuting and loved the fact that I was only filling up my car's gas tank once every 2-3 weeks. His response initially shocked me but then made sense.

He said that we shouldn't conserve oil. We should use it up as fast as we can, because only once the oil is completely gone will Americans wake up and start looking for alternative fuel sources in earnest. Greedy big oil will suppress alternative energy development as long as they can.

  • those will be the same people to control the new sources of energy. you will be trading one addiction for another, but you will still be a slave to the same drug dealer.

  • fucking amazing

  • there are alternatives.

  • omg lol

  • Very nice. Not only the US but also all the other nations of the world must do that.

  • but USA use 25% off the world oil, with a population of ca 300 millions

  • conclusion- usa = greedy selfish pigs with no concern of the environment.

  • "to heat the earth" is a valid answer to the question "why do you drive an automobile?"

  • To see how ExxonMobil, the worlds largest and most powerful company, affects the gov, the media, and the public when it comes to global warming, search "Out of Balance trailer" in youtube

  • NoWaPoo, your comments help no one. Perhaps the folks who made the video use green power, ride their bicycles to and from work, use recycled computers... basically walk the walk? You present no data, just empty rhetoric. Pony up boyo.

  • The only data you need know is that crude oil is a finite resource. Consider the implications of that. Consider that at the current rate of consumption the world's proven reserves will run dry in 43 years. Calculated from consumption/reserve figures in the CIA's world factbook.

  • do whatever u can to get that oil! i dont care what it takes i want my oil. exploit those people!!! get me my gas i dont care!!!

  • vandalize - aren't you up past your bedtime?

  • WNanette, look your 50 years old trying to pick a fight with a kid? whos the kid now.. o yeah do u know what sarcasm is? now go and kill urself loser and pick more internet fights with kids. bye

  • dont worry WNanette, this douche starts shit with everybody on this site, he is a typical american, go figure

  • Like that spot. Very nicely done. My non-profit transportation group is thinking of making some parody videos in a similar vein. Not about oil, but other maladies...

  • nice work - kick the addiction...one day at a time....

  • Burning Fossil Fuel for electricity is our energy past. Big Oil wants you to think that the economy won't survive if we don't burn oil. Biomass, geothermal, solar, wind, and tidal/ocean produced fuels and electricity are our energy future. Ultimately, the only alternative to living sustainably is extinction. Google Easter Island.

  • Uh...or they could just switch to biodiesel, hybrid tech, or fuel cells (working in over 5K city buses in Chicago and LA). Fuel cell energy requires 2 split the water molecules, and hybrids require a plug that draws energy from the nearest powerplant. It seems we're talking about a major system overhaul of our energy network. Is it surprising? Its never been done b4. Hell we put a man on the moon in 8 years. We can figure this out...

  • These guys whine about the government's mercenary attitude toward oil while they gorge themselves on the fruits of an oil based economy. Let's see how principled they are when the price of an Ipod triples because the injection molder, the trucking company, and the electronics retailer slap their pampered asses with a fuel "surcharge".

  • Life here in America would SUCK with expensive oil. Really. Who do you think benefits from the administration's constant effort keep the oil flowing? WE DO. Honestly, do you know what high oil prices do to the cost of PLASTIC. You're staring at plastic right now, you're typing on it. [continued]

  • Who benefits? The people selling the oil, of course-silly question. Yeah, petroleum is very good for making plastics. For getting around, it's an incredibly antiquated, obsolete technology; if we lived in an actual FREE MARKET economy (ie no government subsidies to oil Cos) would have been replaced or drastically improved fifty years ago.

  • Have you seen the bill for the war? If this war was a pay-as-you-go deal, it wouldn't be going anywhere. Don't kill innocent people for me. I'd rather get a car that gets 40mpg. And Bush ain't doing this for you.

  • Hey, guess why "the administration" is chasing oil reserves. Because our - yours, mine, your mom's - quality of life is directly dependent on cheap hydrocarbon fuel. That's right kids. The dorks who put this video up did it with computers run by electricity, produced by fossil fuel plants. They drove to the studio in gas powered cars, on roads paved with cheap, durable ASPHALT. [continued]

  • Actually most of walk, bike and take public trans to work. Not sure why you're so negative but i don't think its helping your cause. When we went to the moon in 6 years people like you were ignored & then looked foolish after American ingenuity accomplished the impossible. Oh...and we don't have a studio, but thanks for thinking so.

  • Very nice

  • Try substituting the word "food" for "oil." When will America finally kick the food habit?

In case you forget, it takes oil to harvest food, to make electricity, and to create the power to run the Internet so you can post videos and inane, intellectually bankrupt comments like Shasman7's...

  • Really. People were successfully producing food LONG before oil. If you don't think our dependency on oil is a problem, you're nuts.

  • actualy it doesnt require oil at all. they can run a carborator on water if they wanted or just as easily an electric motor, but they always buy the rights to it and never use it so they can keep selling their oil. that electricity comment made no sense at all; there are several ways to make electricity and all are equaly hazardous or inefficient. all we need oil for really is plastic and rubber.

  • That's part of the point. It takes too much oil to produce food. People ate food for thousands of years before oil and the era of tractors, long distance trucking, and chemical fertilizers. Raising some of your own food, buying locally when possible, and buying organic are 3 ways to cut down on the oil footprint of your food supply. We'd better learn how to get back there gradually by choice before we're forced to get back there quickly by price.

  • Awesome! hope ya get featured.

  • Very well done and thought out. Thanks!

  • this was good!!

  • nice ncie

  • Hilarious, yet sad. When will America finally kick the oil habit?

  • Great work folks. Love the message..subtle but striking.
