It's true Otto started making some real clunkers in the 1960s, but "The Cardinal" (1963) is a very well directed movie, for which he was Oscar nominated.
I love Arlene. She's one of the smarter panelists. And seems nice, has a sense of humor and talks like a normal person does, unlike Dorothy Kilkallen.
Iove Bennett, but he really was not a great player in the league of Arlene and Dorothy...very often niceness can make up for a lot. Very often he excelled in getting mystery guests. I know he was a good friend of John's.
Producer / director Otto Preminger one and only appearance on WML -- YHWH be praised.
Any man who directs "Laura" cannot be all bad, though most of his 1960s films challenged our definitions of badness. He appeared to plug his 1960 film, the (as we would classify it in the English Department) mockdemiepic "Exodus." I wonder how different American film history would be if William Wyler had directed Exodus and Preminger had directed Ben-Hur.
and "anatomy of a murder" might be the best courtroom drama ever. it's so nuanced that you can watch it over and over and still discover things you'd missed the first dozen times.
Exodus wasn't so much bad but bad casting. The only person who understood the chartacter they were playing was Paul Newman, confirmed Pro-Israel until his death. Sal Mineo? gimme a break!
Wyler wouldn't have done any better.
The better scripted picture and more realistic was Cast a Giant Shadow

Frozen dog food that is delivered by the manufacturer ... here's an example of WML as a history lesson.

The comic potential of dog food is not sufficiently appreciated. "Is this a product I could use?" "Is a lot of your product consumed at Thanksgiving?"
Arlene Francis is at her funniest when she gets hit by flashes of revelation as in 4:06 . Priceless.

I like the way Arlene's head swivels around at 3:30.

I Agree! And suddenly I had the lovely picture of an Arlene Francis Bobble Head doll on my dash board. That would be something.
