I might thin that you guys are just SIBLINGS!!

  • Love the info box

  • you look a lot like Linda Hogan :) you are beautiful

  • u look kinda like meryl streep

  • ohmygod! i cant believe you have a son thats 35! you look sooooo young!

  • no way you have a 35 yr old son - YOU look no older than 35!

  • @Krati I officially love you!

  • Wow, u r old enough to be my mom! I'm almost 35.I like the way u color yr roots, very smart idea.

  • Lana I just love your videos!!!! I'm sooo happy to hear that somebody else does her own hair. I had the same experience with my long hair. Went in for a side bang and ended up with 1/2 inch bang. TERRIBLE!!! I so enjoy all your videos!! Great work and love your honesty!!!!

  • @ndladybug That's awful! WHY do they do that? If we wanted short hair, we'd ask for it. I swear they are sent to ruin us! Gaaaaahhhh!

Stay just as Fabulous as you are! xox

  • you mentioned grey (sorry) does this whiten grey to look blonde or does the grey stay silvery?

  • Your hair look very healthy. How often do you trim the ends?

  • I just do it myself and nick off the very ends once a month or so.

  • Aw Lana, I adore you :) Your hair is so beautiful! I'd love to have that much of it and the length.. was the name of that kit at one time called Quiet Touch? That was my first intro to any coloring and it was -- like you -- right after the birth of my son! My hair began to darken. I like your hair parted down the middle, btw! Thanks for this one.

  • I think it was named that at one time!

Thanks for the sweet comment love xox

  • Lana all your videos are 5 STAR !!!

  • your tips are good and that lady who did that to who was stupid xD!! but anyways your roots there alot easyer way they have root touch up kits with bleach that will be easyer and more even and also get all your roots all over in just like 5 mins =) just leting u know but what u doing now works too XD i use to do that too its cheaper then root touch up kits

  • your son is 34 OMG you look great!

  • Thank You~

My oldest son looks just like Matthew McConoughy only much cuter xoxox

  • Thanks for the great vid. Lana!

I'v never dyed my own hair, my mom always did it for me..

But now I really wanna give it a try and right now I really need to do my roots, and this is really helpful for me..

I'm gonna try it the same way, because I wasn't sure how to start lol..

    Thanks! =)

  • Just be sure to always use the SAME Brand. Such as, if you have used L'Oreal in the past, stick to that brand. Switching brands on color treated hair may cause it to turn orangey color. I have never done this but it's what I have heard.

  • Alright I wil, thanks! :)

  • not true........ just dont get off brands.........plus all bleached do things diffrent i always get bleach that as red and oranage remover its a lil package u add to the bleach and it keeps ot from doing that... real hair bleach comes with those i should know i do hair for a living=) sorry for the bad spelling i am on a laptop and type really fast and my back key dont work =(

  • hello lana, is that like regular hair bleach? it looks like it

  • It probably is. I have never used any other hair coloring but this one so not sure what others are like. This one is gentle but effective. xox

  • you are gorgeous!!

  • xoxox<3

  • I hope i can get this online as im in london, thank u so much for replying!!! xxx<3xxx

  • Lana please please please tell me what nail varnish and colour are you wearing in this i have been looking for a colour like that FOREVER and cannot find it anywhere :( YOUR TRULY AMAZING and i hope at 54 i look as good as you!!xxxx

  • Vicky~

This color is Milani in Pink Lady. So pretty yet so Cheap!

You may have to go 3 coats tho.

    xoxox <333

  • Like J.LO's song-Throwing on my Louboutins..lol

  • Who is this FTC if I may ask?

  • New FTC Rules state that we have to disclaim any and all products shown or used in our videos or face fines. So... I have decided to write them "Love Letters" to confuse them.

  • Oh Lana: It doesn't look that funny. My Dad's second ex-wife used to have her hair streaked. They would use aluminum foil and layer strands of hair on the foil sheets working it up to the crown. By the time she was done, she looked like she could tune in Mars with all that foil in her hair. Now that was funny looking! Have you ever thought about putting a schmear on your brows just to even things out? I would try it, but since I'm starting to go bald, I feel that it would be redundant.

  • You are a pistol lady.I love it.Not to many women will ist there with bleach on their roots and look so damn good doing it.

  • LOL... I would have NEVER done this 10 years ago but now... Why Not?

    xoxox

  • You remind me of Angie Dickinson.

  • I have been told that alot before.

    Thank You!

  • Lana you are soo funny and the most kindest person and i love watching ur vids you are just sooo amazing!

    xoxo stephanie ;)

  • Stephanie~

I hope you felt that giant hug I just sent you. What a LOVE you are !!!

  • Lana, you are so funny! I love your FTC ltr. It is too funny. I have been coloring my hair for years. It is too expensive at the salon. I have brown hair and use l'oreal excellence creme. I do roots only like you and I use a small soft paintbrush. Works great! I have gray to cover up is my main concern.

  • I think it's silly to spend so much at a salon if you can do it yourself at home. Myself, i'd rather spend my cash on a FAB pair of Shoes! xoxoxo

  • Brad is busy...I think he is on his way to my house...lol

Thanks Lana for doing this video. I'm 40 and have been dying my hair since i was 15!! You make it look easy! I As usual you are stunning in this video!

Thanks again...One of your many friends in Canada

    Tracy

  • Tracy~

That Brad is one Dirty Boy! He sure does get around. I think he has hit every one of my female subscribers and a few of the male ones too! lol

Stay Beautiful, my friend in Canada!

  • Love your hair Lana :-) I do mine almost the same way. I have been blonde since the day i was born too, but have gotten darker. I do the roots just like you do. Only difference is i use a tooth brush, works great!

  • Someone else had mentioned a toothbrush and I will have to try that. My poor old brush is so tattered and old. I am so glad to have an alternative in case this old thing dies.

PS. Blondes really DO have more FUN, huh?

  • You are so funny. Call me Brad. I was kind of concerned about FTC until I read your comment. You are hysterical. Love your videos.

  • LOL.. The new FTC rules are such a pain, I have decided to write them love letters

  • beautiful hair,Lana!!!!!

  • Thank You so Much Love xoxxo

  • Love the disclaimer lol. x

  • lol... the FTC rules are a pain so I am going to write them love letters

  • You so beautiful :0)

  • You're so sweet. Thank you!

  • You are so stinkin' cute!! Thanks for teaching us how to look good while being practical. You looked so glamourous blow drying that gorgeous blond hair!

  • Aww.. Thanks Love xoxox

  • How do you color the back?

  • About once every other month I just paint stipes along the back only at the top.

  • thanks for another great video lana!!

  • xoxox muah xoxxo

  • Now I know why my hair gets all broken when I get the roots re-done. The stylist always puts a "toner" on all my hair after doing the roots and I think that colors the whole growth. So that's probably what has been breaking my hair off. Thanks so much for sharing this!!

  • I had a hair stylist that did that and she bleached my hair entirely WHITE blond. It looked... horrific!

  • lol...you are so funny!! great tips too!! and i hate the cap method too!!

  • ouch, just thinking of the cap method hurts my head

  • I used to use this! I don't color my hair much anymore, but I used to use that and I loved it!

  • I love this method and it works xoxox

  • You are exceptionally beautiful in this video, Lana. Like you, I have an aversion to salons where they never do what you ask. Gah! This is why my brunette hair is now in the center of my butt. I need a simple trim and I'm even scared of anyone doing that, seriously! My trust has been shattered far too many times, e.g., I came out with a Dorothy Hamel haircut in my teens & cried bitterly for weeks. wtf?!?

  • omg.. That's awful... Dorothy Hamill cut was cute but not for me! Or you either! I bet your hair is beautifu nowl!

  • Thanks, Lana. There's plenty of time for uber short hair in the Nursing Home when we're in our 80s or 90s, but certainly not now. :O My hair is well, okay, but I urgently need that trim and frankly trust no one. Hopefully I'll find confidence in somebody and get it done, I need it! I hate to lose length but I can see about 3 - 4 inches coming off but it will help "lift" my dragging hair. :D

  • You are such a doll! Take care and Happy Holidays.

  • Same to you darling xoxo

  • I have had bad hair cuts before. I think the worst thing is that I always smile and say it looks good and pay for it. I have never said it looks bad and then not pay. The last bad one I got was a bob at chin length. When I got to the car and brushed it, I had a lot of long hairs. I went home and cut it but had to go to another salon because it was crooked. Ouch, paid again for another cut and it wasn't flattering to boot!!!

  • Lana, I don't think any of us have seen you ugly!! I also dye my hair with Perfect10. I'm on a lot of pain meds and my hair takes a hit. Also,at50, I'm too young to be gray!! I also do my eyebrows because they are so light you can't see them. Sparse too. I'm very careful and use a cotton swab (no violation for saying q-tip). I leave it on for about 8 min. and voila! I have some brows! Never had a problem and my hair matches it. People have thought I was a real redhead!! Much love to you!!!

  • I love watching you... I hope when Im youre age, I can be as cool as you!! :D

  • You remind me of Linda Evans :)

  • Im so gonna try that product, thanks so much!

  • whoa this really helps me! thanks!

  • Your hair looks great- I am with you in leaving a little darkness on the root; there is nothing uglier than someone with bleach blonde hair that is freshly done- it gets this strange solid color and hair needs dimension! To think of all the money you save bc you do this at home!

  • Hey Gorgeous!

  • I love this video, thank u so much for the tips!

  • You are so beautiful. I love your hair.

  • Glad to know that you do your own hair too!! I figured out how much I would spend coloring my hair vs going to the salon and I've saved myself sooo much money!! ~$720 vs $70 per year~

  • You are so cute and I am cracking up right now :) You go missy!

  • Lana I just love your videos! :) XOXO Charlotte

  • Charlotte~

Thank You. That means SO much to me.

    xoxox :)

  • I log in solely for the purpose of checkin' out a lipstick and I see a Lana video so of course I must watch. I get soo wrapped up.LOL...I get so happy when i see you have made a video. Please go to Hollywood and make a show so that we can all come and be in your audience. Love you girl!

  • LOL.. You're two cute. I love you for this wonderful comment but I do believe I will keep my day job.

Did you find that perfect lipstick?

    I hope so!

    Love You too, darling xoxox

  • Too cute not two cute. der

  • Lana!! You are the best~ I just love you! Very helpful tip. I hate going to the salon! It is such a waste of time. Have a wonderful holiday!

  • Waste of time and money! I'd much rather have a pair of Fabulous shoes!

You have a safe and wonderful Holiday too, Love xoxox

  • omg, the FTC is stalking you? lol. funny, they call people...lol

  • Lana you look a lot like Linda Evans in my opinion, you are gorgeous and i love your hair.

    bye!!

  • Thank You~

    You're way too kind xoxox

  • You're so funny LOL!!!!!!!

  • LOL xo :)

  • Megan~

Thank You SO Much Love xoxox

  • Megan~

This is MAC in Pink Swoon but I always apply that and then add a dash of MAC in Peaches over the top to get that Peaches and Cream look. I think i just really love to mix colors. xoxo

  • Same here. I currently have a Katie Homes short cut, which I'm growing out and I told the hair stylist - I am growing this out - and I walked out of the salon with the same short Katie homes cut (sigh). This next round, NO hairdresser, and I'm going to color my hair with Loreal Paris Feria 'deep bronzed brown'. My color is already brown, so I'm sure I'll be fine :-)

  • Why don't they LISTEN??? I think when we tell them what we WANT, their eyes glaze over and they do what THEY like.

So frustrating. Oh well, I am saving my hair care money now for FABULOUS shoes!

PS. I bet Your Katie holmes Look is adorable tho. xoxo

  • You look soooo gorgeous in this shirt and makeup:o) Extra pretty today!

I only do my roots. I've been dyeing my hair for 16 yrs. The directions clearly state to just do the roots. I never knew why people would come to school and say their hair burned off and broke off?! I guess they didn't read the directions! LOL

*big hugs* From one blonde to another:o)

  • Deana~

Your hair always looks so gorgeous. I am in LOVE with that adorable pink streak you have. But then... You ALWAYS look like a million. Love You Blonde xox

  • Lana...You need to do a tutorial on your eye-makeup...you are so beautiful!! Okay but a gorgeous freak! lololol..I am serious..do you ever have a bad day? watching you do this when your hair is away from face...you are stunning!!! Yeah..what color is on your cheeks? What would be do without you. Love the FTC disclaimer! lololol

  • Moira~

I will do a tutorial on this eye shadow. I have re-fallen in love with my Coastal Scents Palette! The Cheek color is MAC in Pink Swoon then I always add a dash of Peaches on top of that just to confuse myself. I like to mix colors and I love that combination. LOL @ the FTC. They will probably come handcuff me for that! Ha!

PS. I think I look like a NYC RAT with Wet hair so Thank You. Love xoxox

  • Love it! Oh, was there a specific color on that product that you use?

  • I do think it comes in different shades. More for what color hair you may have to begin with. This is the lightest blonde but they have it for the darkest hair and tell you how to achieve your desired color. Key is NEVER mix Clairol with say another brand such as L'Oreal. That can be a disaster! Pick a brand and always stick to it. The formulations are all different.

  • Do you ever use protein treatments on your hair? Its a must for bleached hair! You can get aphogee protein packets from sallys for 99 cents, and they are amazing. They rebuild and restore your hair. I use a clarifying shampoo first, then a protein treatment, then deep condition.

  • I have used them. I have gotten those placenta packs at like Sally's and they really are amazing.

    *Note to self...

Go to Sally's for Protien Pack*

  • Lookig lovely as always even with globs of white bleach in your hair. =p hehe Draik says your one hot woman. =D

  • Whew... I was worried Draik would be mad at me for mentioning Brad in my videos. He gets pissy like that, yanno.

I love you and so happy you are here with all of your subscribers and hope to see you for MANY more years! xoxox

  • Wow Lana you look very sexii with your hair wet. Your a great inspiration to me and I always look foward to your videos. I never know what to expect from you lol.

  • LOL... My channel is a Potpourri of Confusion.

Ok, I just described my life! I was afraid to show my face with wet hair. i think i look like a giant NYC rat!

  • they sell the clairol conditioner in stores now, or at least they do now in canada. over here it's sold in the regular shampoo and conditioner aisles, not in the hair dye aisle...

    great video!

    .at

  • at~

Thank You! I am going to go shop online for that stuff. It really does moisturize your hair. The tiny bottle they give you is just not enough xoxox

  • Lana i did hair for 20 yrs- why in gods name cant they listen.,its like most of the girls now- know one hair cut at differnt length, i have to cut my own,, i cant find any one- the last one i paid for i looked like a hillbilly.. short on top long on the bottom= a mullet.. nothankyou.!!! a DUPE for the nice and easy hair color condishioner is RUSK "calm" conditioner.

you can use a tooth brush to apply the dye also.. how your doing it is perfect!!! it also helps your a natural blonde. X shelly

  • Shelly~

OMG... Another cute comment from you. I have had that hillbilly "mullet" cut and it's, well, it's butt-ugly!

I love Rusk products so I will look for that next time I am shopping. Never thought of a toothbrush. Thanks for that tip too.

    Love You xoxoxox

  • lana here is another hair tip..*smile*

have you tried the chi refinsihing mist? to die for (if you have colored hair)

for beautiful curls any size you can put perm rods to huge rollers in the microwave with a little water to steam them hot ;place in hair to cool (curls that last!)hug shelly..

  • I'm a hairstylist and not all of us are bad. I only retouch the outgrowth (unless the client wants to go lighter or darker, and then only if it won't harm the hair), and I never do anything other than what the client wants, as long as it's safe. I try to educate people about what I believe is best for their hair and have refused to do chemical services if I feel it's not in the best interest of the client, or me, either! Good job on your hair, LOL Lana! xoxoxo

  • Ah Joan~

I would never want to imply that ALL hairstylists are bad. I just seem to always get the ones that refuse to listen to me.

Not many take the time as you do to educate and assist. WHY can't you live closer? Am I going to have to jet up there for a good cut and style? Love You xoxo

  • if you go to my site AvaAndersonNonToxic . com you will see why not to use hair color. even when your not pregnant

    xoxox love your videos Lana

    -Ava

  • It can be hard finding a good hair dresser. I had one who would do exactly what I wanted. She want on to better salons, but I found someone new. Hooray!

I've colored my hair for a long time. My oldest daughter makes me. "Mom, you look too young to have gray hair!" LOL

  • I LOVE your daughter!

You're very fortunate to have a hair dresser that listens to you. I think I may have a sign on me that says "Here Comes a Sucka" and so they do my hair the way THEY want to.

  • I don't think they spend a lot of time learning how to deal with long hair so they tend to want to use the scissors on it.

  • I agree! Well said.

Most of the stylists I know all have short hair!

  • lol I love how you cut yourself off while you're talking at the end! Like...ok Lana, that's enough now.

You need to do blog tv, I'd love to hear you ramble!

I went blonde once, but it's such hard work. Plus I looked so stupid that I decided bright pink would look better.

    It wasn't...

  • This comment is so adorable!

I would love to see the bright pink look!

I always have to edit and edit and edit my vids just b/c I go on and on and on!

I am afraid if i ever did BlogTV, I would put 73 people to sleep at their computers!

    Love You gorgeous xoxox

  • Whoa!! What a sexy mamma when your hair's all fluffy after freshly blow drying!! Love the way you do your hair!

  • Thank You! XOXO

  • Thank You!

Life is what you make it and by George, I want to make mine a blast!

PS. Horray for women in their 50's and up!

  • Lana, I swear you can make ANYTHING look like fun!! You're wonderful!

  • Thank You Love xo

  • Adding hair colorist to your list of talents & loving you in your pastels! Keep making these can-do videos. So many times we think we "can't" do something; however, I know my limits; as a brunette, I still feel I need my h/c done by a pro- NOT me :(( But I am a lot about trying to do things for myself, just can't save bucks in this instance-awesome for you that you can! :) Send Brad over when he gets his strength back please ;D

  • Patti~

Seems Brad is a Dirty Dirty boy. He sure does get around!

I have friends that go to Chicago, one to NYC just to color their hair. If I had to choose to color my hair myself or buy some Fabulous shoes... I'd pick those new shoes every time! After 33 years of painting my own hair, I'm just going to keep at it.

PS. I'm off to buy some FAB shoes!

    Love You Gorgeous xoxox

  • you always look gorgeous.

Can you do a Jewlery video?? That HUGE diamond rock on your finger is breathtaking, would love to see it up close. you can sink the titanic again, with that ring.

  • I will do a Jewelry Video soon. Imagine the hate mail I will get for that one!!! Eh, What do I care?

My Dear Husband designed my wedding rings and I am so proud of them. He's my best Jewel! Love You~ xox

LOL @ Sink the Titantic * still Laughing*

  • Thank you for this video! I love it! But what I love more is your letter to the FTC! lol! =)

  • The new FTC Disclaimer Rules are such a pain in the butt so I am going to start writing them intimiate notes and just HOPE the hubby doesn't think I'm cheating on him with an FTC man! xox

  • Hi Lana, How did you manage to wash your hair without ruining your makeup? Mine always get ruined.

  • Jenny~

I usually wash it out in the shower but today, I did it in the kitchen sink and I do make a mess of myself. I just kept a towel ready to mop up my mess. xo

  • Hi Lana, you have beautiful hair - thanks for sharing your hair colouring routine and the product you use - I have tried to colour my own in the past - but the colour turned our far too yellow for me!! BTW your eyemake looks lovely - the blue colour really suits you. Thanks for sharing your technique with us. Have a great day :o) JA x

  • JA~

I have just rediscovered my Coastal Scents Shadow Palette and all of the wonderful colors! I have some of the most expensive makeup out there and still love my CS Palette. I am going to do a video on that subject soon.

    Always love your comments xoxo:)

  • Loved this video....I was coloring my own hair as i watched it!! ha ha!!

    Love ya!

    Sheila

  • Sheila~

Great minds must truly think alike, huh?

    lol xoxox

  • You are just so lovely in every way :)

  • Aww... What a sweet thing to say xoxxo

  • Oh Lana, I freaking LOVE you and all your videos, you are so brave to do this on camera, lol. Keep them coming girl!

  • Michele~

    LOL.. Brave or CRAZY!

All of my subscribers know I'm a goof already, why not cement it.

YOUR videos always make my day xoxo

  • Ok this eye look is your most beautiful one ever - you look stunning, you should wear these shadows all the time :)

  • Poli~

You know what? I just re-found my Coastal Scents Palette! Isn' that so funny?

I think maybe from watching all of the wonderful YT Guru's has just helped me to know what and how to apply shadows better. I have so much expensive makeup and now my favs are the cheapest!

Thank You for the great comment. I may do a video on this very thing! Love U

  • Thank you for this video ! You have a beautifull hair. Your color is so perfect.

  • Thank you Love

  • Haha, i love your FTC. It's such i funny idea. And thanks for sharing the tips in the video, now I may dare so paint my hair. I'm so afraid to damage my hair, but you have such a beautiful hair.

  • I think the key is to just not repeat doing the entire head. I never do the length, only the new growth. xox

  • Lana, I have been watching your videos for a long time, you are a little foolish at time;) but I don't think you have ever had a day where you looked ugly;)!!!!

  • lol lov your FTC note! great idea

your so beautiful i want to get older as nice as you, (no offence]

  • No offense taken love.

    Quite the compliment actually xoxox

  • my mother in low does the same think i help her to get the back of her head

  • You are SO FUNNY! Love your write-up in the sidebar and the Brad stuff!

I use Clairol too; my hair is brown and I just want to cover the gray.

So how is this product different from the "Root Touch-Up" kits that I use? Kinda sounds like I could save some money with this product!

  • The new FTC disclaimers are just a pain!

So... i am going to write them Love Letter from now on!

  • Ha! Love your note to FTC!

I can not understand gals that use that plastic cap thing and pull their hair through either...ouch! I did that once way back in the 80's and it hurt SO much!

I love your hair, it's the perfect blond :)

  • Ouch! It just hurts to even think of doing that!

The FTC will prob come stalking me now for REAL!

  • Beeuteeeeful! It's so funny because I'm getting ready to do my roots too! Good timing. Great job and your hair looks so pretty.

  • omg! i wish i can do that my self... well, im not blond but my natural hair is dark brown and i paint it black :P

  • Lana you look gorgeous as usual, but i couldnt stop laughing,Not at you.I was laughing at the stuff you wrote in the side bar. We sooo have the same sense of humour! Take care my lovely

  • LOL... Isn't the disclaimer we have to add to all product videos a pain? I am going to just write mine in the form of love letters from now on to confuse them!

    Love You xoxox

  • The disclaimer is so stupid, but i like your idea of doing yours in the style of love letters. Love you too

  • Lana, thanks for sharing this with us! I have very dark brown hair and a friend of mine suggested using Clairol Natural Instincts (washes out in 24 shampoos) and I love it! I just need it to cover the gray, so I get something as close to my natural hair color as I can. I can't afford the maintenance of going to a salon for highlights, etc., and the Natural Instincts is fabulous! And if Brad calls you, give him my number!

  • I have seen the Natural Instincts at the store. I may have to try that. Indeed, who wants to spend $200.00 on a color job at a salon. I'd rather spend it on SHOES!

As for Brad... He sure does get around a LOT!

  • Comment removed

  • lana I am a cosmetologist and have been for 25 yrs. I say ( fabulous job your doing ) the hair looks awesome

  • Thank You SO Much! Coming from you, that's quite a wonderful compliment xoxoxo

  • love your FTC note ;)

  • lol.. thanks. I hope the FTC doesn't REALLY stalk me now

  • wow thats scary. The ftc is creepy if they are sending you that. How did they get all your info ?

  • lol... it was a joke. It's such a pain to have to write out a disclaimer now on all of our videos so I decided to make it funny.

  • yu look so good i can`t get over it

i always love seeing older women blowing the young ones out of the water

& it rly does happen so often !

i`m white blonde so i always alternate between $300 bleach jobs & revlon frost & glow bleaching kit !

what i find easier is to part my hair from the top of one ear and keep bleaching & parting until i get to the other ear

might work for ya too :O)

  • Oh, that sounds like a marvelous way to do it! I am going to do it that way next time. Thank you love xoxox

  • can please do a video about selftanning and which product have you used, which are the best.
