  • My baby Rose lived to be 15 1/2 she was deaf and as normal as a dog could be,she knew sign I taught her too(my wife is deaf)

  • My 10 week old Dalmatian puppy is deaf also. I was told that 2 out of 3 Dalmatians are deaf in at least 1 ear. Also if they have blue eyes they have a greater chance too. With just 1 blue eye which ever eye is blue they have a good chance to be deaf in the ear of the side that has the blue eye. Our puppy has 1 blue eye but he can not hear out of either of the ears. I've only had him just over 3 weeks, but he seams to be a fast learner. I haven't worked on any signs yet, because I just started

  • Hhhh (:

  • I have been the proud friend of 2 deaf dallies taught them sign and It worked fine

  • Happy New Year 2011! on a deaf specific dating site Deafornot dot c om, it requires members to disclose their condition upfront

  • Amazing! Clarence absolutely stole my heart in this video -- he's so attentive to your every move, and that curtsy-bow combination you two do is cute beyond words.

  • wow, even though the dogs are in pain, and can't do much. They sure respect you and listen to you. I love the fact that you have kept these dogs until they got old! That makes you a great person! :)

  • Hi! I am deaf & my puppy is hearing so its opposite for me. Sam already knows "sit" in ASL and "potty" in ASL any suggestion how to make it little easier teach my puppy ASL?

  • aww thats aweome i have a deafpitbull and wud like too do this she knows sit and lay not any other 1s any suggestions for me email hustlinjoe@aol.com thanks

  • wow. thats so fascinated to see them understanding your sign language. :D

  • as a mother to a deaf dog I really think what you have done is great! people should understand that rescuing a deaf dog can be so rewarding, and not as complicated as they'd think :)

  • my dog isnt deaf, but she knows sign. idk if its real sign, but she will sit, lay down, roll over, play dead, spin, and give a high five if i make the right hand signals

  • Amazing video. Thank you so much for posting.

  • The black dog was 16 years old at the time of this video. She (India) is no longer here because she died shortly after this video. In the video, you can tell she wasn't doing so well because she stayed on the floor.

  • Which Reminds Me. I did a sign language on dog Macey. She was bannanas. It was "Do you want to go for a walk?"

  • I lost my Dal after 14 years. I miss those kisses

  • What beautiful (and smart) dogs! =)

  • That's really awesome! I thought at first that you were training help dogs for the Deaf. It's just as awesome that you rescued them!

  • hi great video ive just found out that my 12 week old dalmatian is deaf but seeing your video gives me hope, how did you train the dogs to bow to you??????????thanks amill

  • Our mother trained her deaf dalmatian in conjunction with a hearing dog so that the deaf dog could see the same asl commands given to the hearing dog. This is a way of mimicking the hearing dog's behaviors, for it to transfer over.

  • that amazing, i have a hard time teaching my brother asl.

  • I have a deaf dog too! It's a BEAUTIFUL Australian Cattle Dog, Daisy. Her favorite words/signs are... walk and car. I don't know which excites her more. ;-) Maybe sometime I can make a video of her.

  • OMG!!!! I WISH I COULD LEARN SIGN LANGUAGE

    I VE THREE DALMATIANS

    PONGO

    PERDY and

    DOTTIE

neither of them are deaf but if i had a deaf dalmatian icould comunicate with it

  • thats awsome they are all cute

  • I have owned Dalmatians for 20 years.. I have had one that was was a brother of the first .. We too taught sign.. that was a long time ago.. seeing this brings back fond memories.. now we own a girl ( Beckett ) That has bad legs and hips... We love her so much .. she is on meds for pain. seems to help.... Thanks so much for sharing moments of your family and bringing back good memories...

  • Those dogs are awesome. I used to have a dalmatian named Murphy, I miss him so much after seeing this video. I'm glad there are people out there rescuing deaf dogs, they desverve the best care a love.

  • Hmm... I never thought teaching sign language to dogs was strange. My tiwn sister is deaf so in order for her to communicate with our dog like we do, we taught her all the commands in SEE sign lanugage. These dogs are beautiful. And the refridgerator one is something I'll have to work on with our Ashley. :-)

  • this is beautiful :) your dogs look so happy! i wish i could communicate with my dog just like you do with yours...

  • thats great!!! Im a dog people Love those dogs too

  • That's absolutely incredible.

  • Wow! Your dogs are smart. I have 2 dogs. They only know sign language "sit" How do you do that?
