Damn my heart aches for music like this, not that all music today is crappy, but this tune and ones like it are a treasure that can never again be duplicated........
Well, it took over 31 years to even think of this song after hearing it and now know it wasnt Tierra who were the originals, hats off to the originals.
man, right on to london & sons, highwheels and those Tripe sandwiches, but mainly the dances at the "downtown y". I repped Sarah&St.Louis Ave.4LIFE...PEACE2U homie....
a cool early spring night, a clear sky, the radio, a long drive and you, there never was anything better...wonderful memories and this group always provided the best to make them to
Wow... I cant get enough of this kind of music.. A white girl listening to this when I was 10yrs old and on... One of the great old time favorites of mine.. Lets not forget cowboys to girls. Continue to sing with the hairbrush for a mic in the mirror!!
This reminds me of 1967 for real! Sunny days, the older guys driving around in those big red caddy's with the white interiors. Girls is mini skirts. DC comics, Marvel Comics! Cowboy and Girls! Food taste better back then. Movies was cheap to get into. You could take dollar and buy pop, candy chips, and oatmeal cookies and have change left over. It was a time when we was Together!
No group like the Intruders. God bless 'em. RIP lil Sonny, your voice, so innocent, so lush, so real. Glad to have been brought up on this music. Teens today need this quality in their music. But, I guess the age of 'innocence' is long gone...
Timeless classic! Most think this song is by Tierra, a hispanic band. Too bad for them! Another example of why today's artists are so untalented (can't hold a note or play an instrument).
@eljefe77ify TRUE ON THE SONG THE INTRUDERS HIT IT GOOD ON THIS TUNE BUT THE HISPANICS ON THE EASTSIDE OF LOS ANGELES DUG THE INTRUDERS STILL TO THIS DAY THEY ARE BIG FANS OF THE PHILLY SOUND, DETROIT CHICAGO R'B SOUL TIERRA JUST FOLLWED THE EXAMPLE OF THE SOUL SOUNDS ...
Please forgive me. The group's name is The Jaggerz, and the tune is "Forever Together, Together Forever". And if you listen real close, the lead singer is influenced by Little Sonny's lazy singing style. ( He very well may have been coached by Gamble.) Anyway... check it out.
Intruders, Philadelphia International, O'Jays, Gamble & Huff, Delfonics... all fantastic stuff, especially in the late '60s for us Cleveland / Pittsburgh / Philly natives. But I re-discovered a relatively little-known group on the "Gamble" label for that same time period and region called "The Jaggers". If you like this one by the Intruders, check out the Jaggers cut "Together Forever, Forever Together". The lyrics, harmony & horns are remarkably similar, but these guys got BLUE EYES! Solid.
Rober (Big Sonny) Edwards is my father. Always, since i was able to sing, enjoyed singing all of their songs. Following in my fathers footsteps with singing.

@shelleyfletcher1 Wow...your dad and the Intruders were the sound of my childhood. I was born in 1965, and my uncle Donald used to put me in the backseat of his car while he had his girlfriend with him in the front, and he'd drive all over Detroit playing the Intruders nonstop. LOL...man, they sound so sweet and bring back the best memories of my life. RIP Lil Sonny...only God knows how much we miss your voice. And please, tell you father how much i love the Intruders!!!
Shellybellysf the Intruders were always huge in Detroit from the beginning. Like you say it was a different soul strand..Which made it appealing. I bought all those records and loved them so! So many wonderful memories.

Great Performance!!! Great Philly Sound!!! Original Group!!! 5 stars

i grew up listening and loving this music. It made me the romantic I am today. Music produced by Gamble and Huff and Motown can never be duplicated. This era was in a class all its own.
The world would be a better place with The Sound of Philadelphia tunes;
Love, peace, and more love.
Salutations to the lovers and listeners of this music.
G & H productions/mixes were always a "wall of sound" in their their own right. Was always something unique to glean from every release. Never much of a formula approach w/these dudes.
On this one an amazing horn arrangement w/ unbelievable baritone sax, that doesn't step on the vocals.
Always very fond of original versions, even if the Tierra version is more well known. Still very soulful and full of all of the passion of the great soul sound of the late 60's and early 70's Greatest sounds in all of the universe. :-)
I remember wanting to hang out with my older sisters and gay uncle at a party. They treated me like wet paint, but I watched them slowdrag and act like they were grown. Of course, I thought I wanted to do that when I grew up. Shit! I was always guarded. I'll bet that girl kissing that guy in the corner probably has 17 kids now. But I love this song!!!!
Can you imagine being 11 years old when this song came out? Those catholic school kids were dumbfounded when my brothers and I sang this one. I'm sure we blew their minds for a lifetime.
This song reminds me of my high school freshman year and my best friend Shirley who had to move before school year was out. She loved this song and Leroy. Shirley if you are out there HI and I never will forget you. I love this song.

@GarwinEugeneW They were so wonderful....such manly voices, I feel the same awe I felt the first time I heard them. Such harmony is rare these days.....
I'm not sure which one he is but they were fantastic. Thanks for the tribute! I'm sure you are blessed just knowing he sang beautiful songs from his heart. He had to be a beautiful person! God bless.
Yeah...one of the greatest "love you madly" tunes ever committed to vinyl. Soul music as pure and heartfelt as it came in those days, and the Intruders were always one of the best at supplying many love tunes that inspired us to...do whatever we had to do (asking for dates, mood music for quiet dinners for two, marriage proposals, and some other thing lovers do which escapes me at the moment...)
To be young, stupid and in love listening to this in 1967 --- PRICELESS

Yeah...one of the greatest "love you madly" tunes ever committed to vinyl. Soul music as pure and heartfelt as it came in those days, and the Intruders were always one of the best at supplying many love tunes that inspired us to...do whatever we had to do (asking for dates, mood music for quiet dinners for two, marriage proposals, and some other thing lovers do which escapes me at the moment...)
