  • What a beauty <3

  • Wasn't Air Force #1 a DC 6 with President Truman???

  • am I the only one who think planes looks better in chrome??

  • @Infantry969 Not chrome...polished aluminum! but YES a very beautiful finish for an aircraft.

  • @55chh oh, thanks, whatever, I love that paint!!

  • I always thought the Connie was the most beautiful propliner, but I have to admit this plane is gorgeous - it looks like a piece of jewelry!

  • Can see it live whenever it starts :D

(currently live near the Salzburg airport)

I love the sound and the sun reflecting of the shiny hull when it flies by!

  • I love those old engine sound

  • How long it has taken to come full circle to what excites us about airliners! I remember when the DeHavilland Comet 4 and the Boeing 707 were the superstars of the sky. Compared to piston airliners, the early jets were sleek, elite, and quieter on the inside. They were the exciting heralds of "the future."

Now, with globalism, treason, betrayal, tyranny, anomie, nihilism, and malaise abounding, this Red Bull DC-6 is a salute the Old Republic, when we WERE America and flying was beautiful.

  • muy bonito avion

  • What a beauty.

  • I may not agree with the product redbull produces but i for one am glad a company with there financial backing has brought so many fine old ladies back from the boneyards of the world. I want to thank all of the talented men and wemen who heep them flying for my generation to enjoy as well as my children.

  • It discusts me that a company like Red Bull still exists by selling a drink that has the same ingredients as speed and is causing so many young people to have heart attacks and strokes. The FDA should have shut that company down before they got that powerful. Now they ruin a beautiful aircraft and paint it Red Bull... This really pisses me off to no end!

  • @richdaman71 i overlook what they make i like redbull because they do so much for aviation and it is your choice to drink so stop complaining

  • @richdaman71 i overlook what they make i like redbull because they do so much for aviation and it is your choice to drink so stop complaining

  • @richdaman71

Wow, you should really talk to your dealer, because he's ripping you off! Speed is not coffeenated sugar pills (that - with water added - is what Red Bull essentially is).

But yes, you're right. It should be banned, right together with Coca Cola, Pepsi and all the other sugar drinks. People are too stupid. Look at how many obese people there are in the US. No wonder there are so many heart attacks and strokes!

  • Great piece of videography. I have had the privilege of flying in this great machine.

  • talk about beautiful music in those piston pounding engines!!

  • Nice ending animation.. Really haven't heard about this plane anywhere though, I suppose it flies to airshows.

  • So this is what i'm paying for with those $3 dollar can of red bulls.... no seriously tho, beautiful aircraft.

  • this is a DC-7... My dream plan is either a G-I (G-159) or DC-4. someday : )

  • What a gorgeous plane! Thanks for the great post!

  • Was redbull on a plane buying spree or wat cause this is the 2nd or 3rd plane redbull has bought.

  • As a kid I had the 'privilege' of flying on several propliners under the Trans Texas Airways, Eastern Airlines and Delta Airlines liveries - from the DC-3 all the way up to the Super Connie. On the overnight flights, I was somewhat disappointed to see the blue exhaust flames slowly disappear as the sun came up. When the Lockheed Electra came into service, it was a bit of a letdown for a kid that loved piston-powered start-ups with all the smoke, some flames and the unmistakeable recip roar.

  • soo shiny, so beautiful. you know, you got a appreciate this machine, which looks like it has stood the test of time. nice job

  • just imagine....almost every propliner in the 50's and 60s sounded like that at takeoff....what a gorgeous sound <3

  • Beyond comparison.

  • Red Bull.. It Gives You Planes!!

  • i flew in a dc 5 of thw guatemalan air force in 1986

  • @rickkflores: the last DC-5 was reduced to scrap some time after 1955 according to Wikipedia.

  • @ronfb1946 it was i dc 6 brother from guatemalan airforce or also look under fuerza aerea guatemalteca f.a.g

  • Sex on wings right there!

  • Delta, United or American sixes never looked that good. Nice....very nice.

  • The DC-6B uses the final development of the R-2800 CB-16/17 @ 2500 HP each with water injection (ADI). The fuel used determines if it is the CB16 or 17...

  • My gasoline combustion heaters are on board that bird.4 each at 300,000 btu's per unit. They are used as leading edge deice and cabin heat . Each heater burns 10 gph!

  • What a noise..

  • Oh I love that Plane Awsome machine !!

  • proprio uno splendido aereo complimenti

  • I hope redbull didn't wreck this like they wrecked the Scencruiser they have.

  • Seriously, this puts a big grin on my face seeing this bird. I wish I had been around when these birds were flying passengers.

  • They still fly these in Alaska. Northern Air Cargo have an entire fleet comprised of 6's until several years ago.

  • What a fantastic noise of the DC-6 roaring by on take-off!

I simply love the sound of the PW R-2800 Double Wasp radials!

  • Comment removed

  • good engine audio! love radial engine noise!

  • Gives me the chills. Ah, nostalgia! What a gorgeous piece of machinery! Might have to go slam a Jaeger bomber to help support this thing... It looks better than new.

  • Great video! Awesome sound!

  • Bravo!

  • Sounds so raw and mean. A real mans plane. I bet the pilot chops down trees with a blunt axe and kill bulls with his bare hands after flying. In fact, the pilot might be the guy who single handedly squeezes the juice out of the bulls to make Red Bull.

This plane flew over my house at low altitude last year, and man, I almost crapped my pants. My dream is to fly in one of those.

  • @anoonymuse Come to Greece for vacations. We have the Bombardier Dash 8 for the islands, and some Dornier 228 for the smaller islands. :) I especially like the Dash 8.

  • splendido aereo complimenti...

  • wow is like 2 have 1 of these

  • Gorgeous! I flew in many a DC-6 as a kid in the 1960s. The constant drumming of the pistons/props made conversation aboard one "interesting". Try talking through the blades of an electric fan to get the effect.

  • Ray Anderson builds great R2800's, doesn't he?

  • That my friends is a work of art!

  • what beautiful airplane!!!!

  • Learn about "chemtrails"

  • @TrutherD1 There's no such thing as "chemtrails" you dumbass.

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule There's no such thing as you. :P

  • @TrutherD1

Thetre's such a thing as an intelligent riposte, and this wasn't it.

  • @AndreiTupolev Perhaps not, but at least it gave you something to add to your superiority complex.

  • Beautiful !!

  • Put down the tin foil hat.

  • That sound is great but even better are the harmonics of the 4 engines that you hear in the cabin. That's music.

  • Man, that brings back memories.

  • Redbull rocks... DC-6, HU-16, all kinds of flying wonder.... Thanks RedBull for being Vintage....

  • that plane is beyond mint...

  • Tito and K.Kaunda !

  • for some reason old planes are alot safer than modern jets

  • there made simpler

  • the reason is the velocity

  • they were made like tanks compared to todays jets, thats why NWA/Delta still flies 40 year old DC-9s, old planes were built to last =)

  • Red Bull has outdone itself; this is the most beautiful airliner restoration I've ever seen. I flew myself over 20 years and have attended well over 100 air shows and have never seen the likes of this; even the American Airlines DC-6's and 7's back in the '50's didn't look THIS good. Again, congratulations to Red Bull; hope to see it before my emphysema takes me...

  • couldnt agree more!

  • I have to agree with you! Beautiful aircraft. I have always loved the DC 7. Listen to those engines. Nothing sounds like it! Red Bull had a beautiful bird there flying

  • @doc2usmc

I think I have to agree with you on your statement. That is a gorgeous aircraft. Gorgeous.

  • @doc2usmc I hope you had your chance.

  • @doc2usmc it's on display in Salzburg airport, Austria

  • @doc2usmc I wish you the best of luck!

  • Even though i am not really a DC Plane fan i must agree that this plane is beautiful and sounds great

  • I saw that Mini in sweden a while ago :) Cool car

  • Wow! What a beautiful sound!

  • fantastic

  • history plane¡

  • Beautiful restoration of a classic prop liner. I would just love to fly in her.

  • Mmmmmm

    What a nice sound at T/O :)

  • Great Plane !!!

  • Beautiful. I only hope that you can offer the public (surly plane enthusiasts rids in that!

  • ay ay ay! what a fantastic job!!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful just plain beautiful

  • It speaks volumes about the good taste in Red Bull's owners to restore a DC-6 to its glory. High dollar biz jets all look alike on the apron but, this really stands out!

  • Goosepickles guaranteed!!!

  • Gleaming aluminum, noise, dripping oil, flame and smoke belching power! Now, that's an airplane!

  • @rickey5353 makes my skin crawl in a good way

  • @rickey5353 ..couldn't agree more, glad to see somebody having that opinion other then myself.

  • @rickey5353 –noun

    1. a heavier-than-air craft kept aloft by the upward thrust exerted by the passing air on its fixed wings and driven by propellers, jet propulsion, etc. Yep, it qualifies :)

  • wow,what a beautiful plane!!!

  • wow, beautiful sight and sound!. What a shame we all fly in jets these days, yawn :(

  • I think they could use a few L-188 Electras for show :)

  • Love the chrome on that aircraft, gorgeous.

  • OK thats fuckin awesome . I will never buy a red bull Rich pricks .

  • Show me any Lear, Citation X, Hawker XP, Airbus, Boeing or anything that can have such a majestic sound, and a graceful movement!! Can't be done, turbine boys!! By the way, how many dozen people are employed to polish all that aluminum!! WOW!!! Great Vid!!

  • i saw it fly yesterday over steyr/upper austria ca. 1000 m height. beautyful old plane

  • Art deco + shiny aluminum + big giant radial engines = magic.

  • Neat, neat, NEAT, count 9 blades and magneto on, pow pow pow smoke and they're turning and burning. That was my office years ago as a Navy flight engineer! 2800's were great, Pratt Whitney Dependable Engines.........well sometimes! I loved props.

  • Wow would've been great not many people can say they've been so close to these old birds now days. I had a great chance last week to fly a Beech 18 with R-985s and almost learned the hard way of what a bastard thing PWs are to run on decent from cold and high though!

  • I don't drink Red Bull. But I keep it in the fridge just becouse the company supports aviation. Go Red Bull!!

  • It is said that the owner put more money into this plane for the restauration than it's new price.

If you look at this perfect work it could be true.

  • Great video and love the special effects too.

  • Wonderful, I barely remember flying in an Eastern DC-6 or 7 out of CMH as a child, but have never forgotten the sound.

  • im VERY glad to read this comments I feel very happy to hear it and see it flying, just look at the part where they film the engine the props and part of the cylinders in the so call NACA cawlings WOW, Mr Douglas most be smiling from heaven

  • Beautiful aircraft

  • I won't use any energy drink, let alone Red Bull, but ya gotta admit they did a great job bringing back the DC-6. We need more radials flying around, and hopefully soon we'll see that DC-7 flying more.

  • There's nothing like "Old Iron" I love the sound of those piston engine birds of the past!

    Nice video! Thanks!!!!!!

  • I'm retired Navy(1992) flighter engineer on these old birds. It brought big tears to my eyes seeing this video. Have over 2000 hours in these birds and haven't been in one since 1982. Great to see still flying!!!!

  • good times when fuel, oil, hydraulic fuel, a bunch of screwdrivers and some concern were all that planes needed.

  • Quite to the contrary... radial engines took a lot of maintenance compared to the relative simplicity of a jet engine.

  • it's not the engines so much, it's the electronics. Those were the days when the pilot flew the plane, and not someone at base programming the most fuel efficient flight plan into the computer.

  • What about the in-line liquid-cooled engines? Did they require a lot of maintenance too?

  • the sound is soo cool damn

  • Donald Douglas, wherever he is, must be smiling and very proud of this eagle and of the people who take care of it. Great plane, and great video.

  • Very, very nice video. Best I've seen. This is a really interesting aircraft. Go to the Red Bull Aircraft website and read her storied history and astoundingly-expensive-but-loving restoration.

  • Look´s brand new!

Fantastic!. Take good care od this old lady now boys!

(Not a dry eye after this video)

    :)

  • Thank you so much for this awesome video......Great.

  • In Europe there are currently 2 semi-operational: Red Bull's (PAX) and Air Atlantique Classic flight(Cargo)

Red Bull operates several other classics and has a museum at Salzburg airport. For more details please check the internet.

    Regs,

    Donald

  • this dc6 used to be based in namibia. good to see it again

  • This is one of the best on Youtube for sound and video quality. Nothing sounds quite as good as 4 old radial engines-Bravi!

  • Superb !!!

  • Very nice!
