  • 0:00 Fantasie Impromptu :D

  • The bass notes beginning around 2:06 spell out a motive from the opera, The Heroic in Siegfried. This is a very important part of the music and the Ring cycle in general and the pianist's approach to the melody in that part is, in my opinion, absolutely correct.

  • I don't think it's the right piano for this approach. A bit bright and without much depth.

  • Ms. Okashiro seems now more widely present on the ProPIanoRecords channel. I checked it out. Try for yourself. You might find it to your liking

  • There is ONE THING you need to know about her: YOU ARE LISTENING TO AN ARTIST.

A SECOND THING you need to know is: In the "piano world," an ARTIST and a pianist, are NOT always the same thing... and rarely are they found in a single "player.

More than a pianist, this woman is an ARTIST!!!! (one who just happens to be a pianist too.)

"Too loud, too fast, too much bass, etc." are mere attempts at pedantic criticism.

FInd her CDs... online if you must... and HEAR ARTISTRY every single time!

  • plateau5valley5 >>>No need to shout. We're not deaf.

  • @plateau5valley5 This man speaks truthzors... A Artist is something entirely different, and a good artist is a treasure indeed!! Piano players are a dime a dozen..

  • This playing has clarity, but IMO many of the dynamics are wrong.

For example at 1:43 there is an FFF followed by a *gradual* decrescendo but I don't hear this all.

The sudden sharp accent on the D minor chord at 3:58 sounds quite ugly.

The beautiful melody in the tenor starts at 2:06 but some notes are much too soft and others are hammered out, this sounds very unlogical.

  • Well - maybe these shocking accords want already wake up the sleeping lady - why wating for the god's grandson ? ;-)

Or it's just meant as the stamping foot of the furious god, who just became aware of his own end ? Sounds like this ...

  • Well...maybe! But musically, I don't like this effect...please listen to Josef Hofmann's superb version!

  • Hofmann's version is superb, especially that one issued by the "musical time machine", I've found by means of your upload ! Thanks !

This "stamping foot" was meant a little bit joking - Wotan wouldn't stamp with his foot, he would take his speer, of course ;-)

  • @pianopera She leaves the chords softer than the single notes. I think that's pretty logical.

  • It's sad that this seems to be the only video on youtube with Chitose Okashiro. Don't know how she thinks about her stuff on YouTube, but she is an amazing pianist, and her renditions of Wagner and Scriabin are extremely sophisticated. Thanks for the video. Oh and BTW she does seem to have a tendency to emphasize bass notes in most of her recordings. But you get used to it pretty quickly, imo, because the rest that she has to offer is worth it.

  • It doen't have to be sad Verdegrand..

Buy some of Chitose Okashiro CD's

and put them up on youtube.

  • i don't like the playing but how cool is it to watch the sheets! tnx for the upload!

  • The lower voice is played way to loud. Otherwise, it's fine.

  • I love this pianist, do you have any video of her playing live? i´ve never seen one... PD: tahnks for posting

  • beyond words. 5 stars.

  • Beautiful transcription. I am nevertheless not sure I would have played the left hand so heavily. But that's a personal opinion.

  • wgner simply greate....good job uploading this..:)

  • thanks for this!

  • great upload man ...

  • Beautiful.

  • Thank you for posting!
